Yeah, those Maya Angelou courses must be really difficult, Thacker, at Wake.

What’s that you say? Oh that’s right. Wake just put that whack job on the faculty and her “office” is actually a broom closet. My brother is an alum of Wake from the early ’80s and quit giving about 15 years ago because of Wake’s trading of previous high academic standards for ACC basketball status.

As for Notre Dame being “Catholic.” That’s nostalgia for the days of yesteryear when the school actually followed Catholic teaching….

Good thing we’ve got all those Viking Super Bowl victories under our belts, ay?

FLORIDA, OU, TEXAS, and yes USC, all one loss teams chasing an undefeated ALABAMA for a spot in the national championship game. With one week left to go the BCS and the “pollsting lobbiest” will be in full force. Of all the teams left here, USC has by far the best defense in the country while Oklahoma has by far the best offense. Oklahoma can spot any team in the nation 50 points and they still lose by an average of 12 points. Any other year and a USC win over Notre Dame counts for something. This year, at 6-6, the Irish can’t help themselves let alone anyone else. While my bias, (and the stats), say USC deserves to be in this championship mix, I’m afraid they are still on the outside looking in. more here

ND is great for college football, and I hope they get back to their winning ways soon.

Even though I’m a die hard USC football fan, I think Florida and Oklahoma are the two best teams this year. USC and Penn St. will make for a great Rose Bowl.

Yes, the football team is down, and often overrated, but ND has given me some of the best friends I could ask for.

Not to worry though because they are CATHOLIC. And we all know all things Catholic are better than things non-Catholic, right Ed?

If they don’t lower their academic standards some, they can fire as many coaches as they can hire, but ND won’t be breaking the top 20 often or for long.

Wake Forest (ACC champions 2006 with the smallest enrollment in D1) says ‘hey’.

Notre Dame can get whoever they want, and they do. They aren’t good because they don’t have to be. I assure you that the current roster of ND players would likely flunk out of Wake. Wake is notoriously bad, but with the newer rules concerning how many players you can offer, there are plenty of good players available that can both do athletics and academics. I am absolutely certain that ND has plenty of people on the roster that can’t pass regular college courses and is taking easy athlete courses.

‘Academic Standards’ has nothing to do with why ND is so bad.

The Irish will be lucky to score.

So far, Jammiedamus appears to have the thing correct. Hardly a difficult prediction, but as I watch this train wreck of a game I wonder if I am watching the Trojans play the JV squad at St. Clete’s School for Wayward Girls.

I would rub my private school in your face but BYU lost last week so nah
