Just removes all doubt that NBC does not deserve a bail out no matter how hard they beg.

Mornin’, Brother.

Yep. Turnin’ 50 Wednesday and having a degree in Radio, TV, and Film gives me a bunch of probably useless trvia on the history of Entertainment. Some of my best memories are sitting with my Mom and Dad watching all those shows. I can still hear my Dad laugh at Red, Jackie, Flip, and Dino.

Then to see that piece of hateful garbage destroy a format that was fun and entertaining with her own political opinions and massive ego.

To quoter beththebaker: Oy Vey!

kingsjester on November 28, 2008 at 10:38 AM

Rosie seems to be clinging to her Lesbianism and liberalism, and antipathy towards others.

Anyone notice a distinct similarity between Rosie O’Donnell and Lori Drew?

leetpriest on November 28, 2008 at 10:38 AM

quoter=quote
oops.

kingsjester on November 28, 2008 at 10:40 AM

is there ANY reason (other than sports) to EVER EVER EVER watch NBC or any of their chain of networks…..

My God, who could think this bumbling, fat, incredibly stupid, uneducated bag of hot air (sorry) would succeed…..isn’t America dumbed down enough yet with the chosen One’s election???

SDarchitect on November 28, 2008 at 10:56 AM

There’s a niche for Rosie somewhere. Comedienne extraordinaire at gay bath-house steamrooms , or, the recurring role of abusive mean warden female prison if they ever revive that 70s-80s prison bad-girl movie genre. Outside of that, I don’t predict much in the way of schedule for her.

Marcus on November 28, 2008 at 11:38 AM

So when ugly, fat, angry, Hollywood has-beens can’t get a man they declare themselves gay?

Okay.

ex-Democrat on November 28, 2008 at 11:51 AM

Ugly bag of mostly water.

wccawa on November 28, 2008 at 11:53 AM

ex-Democrat on November 28, 2008 at 11:51 AM

Oddly enough, that assertion works with both genders.

wccawa on November 28, 2008 at 11:56 AM

That said, I find Rosie O’Donnell to be possibly the most worthless and repulsive load on the planet (OK, maybe Olbermann and Matthews are worse, but indulge me here for a minute).

You forgot to add Jimmy Carter.

There’s a big difference between Rosie and those that hosted variety shows in the past: Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason, Red Skelton, Andy Williams, Perry Como, Glen Campbell, Carol Burnett, Dean Martin, Flip Wilson, etc.

I think the man in black, Johnny Cash, deserves at least an honorable mention in that list. An incomplete list of musical guests who appeared on the 3 year run:

Bob Dylan, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Kris Kristofferson, Joni Mitchell, The Carter Family, June Carter Cash, The Statler Brothers, Carl Perkins, The Tennessee Three, Roy Orbison, Tammy Wynette, Derek and The Dominos, Neil Young (making his network TV debut), Louis Armstrong, Minnie Pearl, Buffy St. Marie, Glen Campbell, the Monkees, Merle Haggard, Ray Charles, Roger Miller, Mama Cass Elliot, Arlo Guthrie, Kris Kristofferson, Gordon Lightfoot, Charley Pride, Waylon Jennings, Neil Diamond, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, Rod McKuen, Judy Collins, Rick Nelson, Buck Owens, Linda Ronstadt, Liza Minnelli, Jose Feliciano, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.

There’s a clip on YouTube of Cash, Perkins and Clapton playing together on the show.

rokemronnie on November 28, 2008 at 11:59 AM

Rosie is the poster-child for what has gone wrong with this country.

The fact that she would be given time on a national network to do whatever it is that she does is emblematic of how low this country has sunk.

Nobody watching her is a tiny ray of hope.

But I would prefer she be drawn and quartered at sunset and pooped on by fetid petards rather then just be cancelled.

notagool on November 28, 2008 at 12:00 PM

rokemronnie on November 28, 2008 at 11:59 AM

Good catch. I remember being a little freaked out because I didn’t know Mike had left the Monkees already when they appeared.

kingsjester on November 28, 2008 at 12:04 PM

Keemo,

Yeah, who would have thunk it… Rosie, the great uniter.

rokemronnie (or anyone else interested),

Not sure how many people on here are fans, but Elvis Costello is debuting a musical variety show on Sundance Channel this week. Think his first guest is Elton John. Apparently at the beginning of every show, Elvis will interpret a song by the show’s guest. Could be pretty interesting.

Tom_Shipley on November 28, 2008 at 12:05 PM

Bottom line: Rosie sucks!

pilamaye on November 28, 2008 at 12:43 PM

Gushing long article on Fox News site right now headlined “Can Rosie Save NBC”. VERY complimentary both of Rosie and of her show. Can the Fox writer (no byline name) have seen the same production as what everyone here saw?

NahnCee on November 28, 2008 at 12:56 PM

Remember when Rosie O’Doughnut used to try and pass herself off as some kindly, cheerful person, until she decided to show the true colors of her “rainbow”, the colors of hate and intolerance.

*Waiting for Ellen Degeneres to show her true colors as well* It will happen.

along with campy production numbers featuring sexy dancers and cute little children.

Hopefully not at the same time. Though, knowing Rosie’s morals(or lack thereof), I wouldn’t put it past her.

re:wccawa – Love your Star Trek reference up there! :) How appropriate. Though in this instance I would change “water” to “bile”.

Sterling Holobyte on November 28, 2008 at 1:06 PM

Larry the Cable Guy said of Rosie,

“Now there’s a turd that won’t flush.”

Tom_Shipley on November 28, 2008 at 12:05 PM

Elvis Costello is a bigot. He called Ray Charles an “an ignorant, blind n*****” in 1979 while discussing American Music in a bar with other artists. Bonnie Bramlett of Delaney and Bonnie supposedly slugged him and knocked him on his ass.

If I ever feel compelled to listen to anything by Elvis Costello, I can’t help but hear Ray’s version of “America” and just pass on Costello.

My friend…

Kini on Nov 27,2008 at 11:56PM.

Kini: Sorry for not responding sooner,at least Ellen isn’t
using her show as a protest forum like her so-called
comedy show back when!

Oh,btw,I’m not defending Ellen,in any way!

Rosie playing Betty Rubble was really good, and its
the only time I liked what she did!

Yup,I always loved Gazoo,but I’m a bit perplexed,
I know he was an alien, but I wonder if he was legal
in status,Ha Ha!!

And as always, nice hearing from you Kini!

Oh btw,in a different thread you mentioned you owned
a 1967 Chevelle SS,my parents owned a 1967 Chevelle
wagon,and later on,I owned a 1969 Chevelle SS 396,
4 spd!:):):):):):).

canopfor on November 28, 2008 at 1:49 PM

The beauty of this genre in the past, was that the host stepped back and let the performers perform. Hosting a variety show is not well suited to a narcissist.

Which brings us to Rosie.

manwithblackhat on November 27, 2008 at 9:33 PM

Using the words beauty and Rosie in the same post will get you banned…

right2bright on November 28, 2008 at 2:25 PM

And from now on we must find another moniker for this Rosie thing…something like this:
the thing that spews like a whale, or
the thing one must not step in…

right2bright on November 28, 2008 at 2:28 PM

NBC’s “gift to America” this Thanksgiving was to leave a flaming fudge bag aka Rosie O’Doughnut on everyone’s doorstep. The vast majority wisely kicked it to the curb, the liberal/progressives brought in into their house as an air freshener to cover up the smell of their burnt Tofurkeys.

Nahanni on November 28, 2008 at 2:34 PM

Here is video of Rosie hearing about her epic fail from the network.

Costello immediately apologized for the comment, plus maybe see his next album, Get Happy!!!, as an attempt to make amends by paying tribune to American soul music. Most importantly, he’s never really shown himself to be a racist person since. But, to this day, he
shows regret about making the comment.

I don’t think it’s really fair to still hold the comment against him.

Tom_Shipley on November 28, 2008 at 2:50 PM

Did somebody mention Cash, Clapton and Perkins?

Rosie truths:

Fire can’t melt steel.
Guns kill people.

and a psycholesbian truther whale isn’t funny after 1999.

Black Adam on November 28, 2008 at 4:10 PM

That old saying:

“It’s not over till the fat lady sings”..

…Rosie should have never opened her own show. Doomed from the beginning.

NBC is jsut trying to save the whale(s) that’s all.

*Gag*

She makes me sick

I decided not to watch pigs wearing lipstick some time during the campaign of ‘08.

Yes, that was cruel. I meant it to be.

Spiritk9 on November 29, 2008 at 5:30 AM

I thinks she should still get therapy for Bush Derangement Syndrome, it seems to be keeping her from being funny.

la.rt.wngr on November 29, 2008 at 10:18 AM

When will NBC, MSNBC, CNN and the rest finally realize that ROSIE is not a star. She is a wannabe comedian, a social climbing liberal, and a very not entertaining chubby lesbian. VERY NOT entertaining.

afotia on November 29, 2008 at 12:46 PM

I don’t think it’s really fair to still hold the comment against him.

Tom_Shipley on November 28, 2008 at 2:50 PM

Do you think it’s fair for the media to hold comments against folks like Jimmy the Greek, George Allen, Trent Lott and on and on. They never even used the n word.

hawkdriver on November 29, 2008 at 2:47 PM

along those not hating her I hate the view as well those commie hags wouldn’t know the truth if it was a black mamba and bit them many many times

i meant lines but oh well

Christiangothkitty on November 29, 2008 at 3:48 PM

Rosie despises what is good and pure because she knows that virtue is out of her evil and vile reach.

All the is good is an affront to her.

TheSitRep on November 30, 2008 at 8:44 AM

One reviewer observed that O’Donnell tried to slip children into the show to give the illusion that the filthy bodyparts jokes and underlying unhealthy bitterness were really “family entertainment”. The abuse of children by O’Donnell in this instance is a window into her personal life. I’ve long advocated the removal of the poor innocent children who O’Donnell has been “purchasing” solely to be used as props to legitimize her dysfunctional lifestyle. They are the true victims of the Rosie persona.

Your gay bath-house comment gives me an idea for Rosie. Put a little shadow around her chin, dye her hair blonde, dress her up in a too-tight off the shoulder number, give her a feather boa–VOILA! The first female, female impersonator! With apologies to Divine; may s/he rest in peace.
