Video: The great gallery of awful Obama impersonators

posted at 9:33 pm on November 25, 2008 by Allahpundit

Tapper says Armisen must go, then posts nine amateur clips reminding us that Armisen’s not so bad after all.

Most are unwatchable, but these two are in the ballpark. Treat the second clip as a radio bit and close your eyes after pressing play.

He needs a cigarette in his mouth and a Chicago thug hat on his head…

The first guy looks more like him, the second guy is a bit better in his uh uh uh delivery.

There’s some ambigously white/black/whatever guy with really big ears who is about to make a fortune. As for Michelle, pretty much any rough-around-the-edges whore is in the running.

Soon it will be illegal to impersonate the President-in-Training.

As well it should be. How can we have change if we continue with our old ways of laughing at presidents? This type of racist humor represents America’s shameful past. Obama can only do so much without our help. We need to join with him in bringing the kind of change we know is possible so that our children, which we won’t have, will never have to laugh at another president again.

Did I miss it or was there no mention here of the Conservative women calendar that Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Mary Katherine are in? I’m sick of all-O, all the time. Coulter especially looks primo in her mink. Saw the calendat story on Malkin’s site.

Marcus on November 25, 2008 at 10:10 PM

Do you think anyone would notice if we kidnapped the President Elect and replaced him with the second guy?

Actually, Obama will reach out to the “winner” to get tips on how to act in these situations.

Remember Hillary’s first State of the Union speech where Joe Lieberman literally had to guide her through the proceedings in a way that wouldn’t embarrass her? The camera caught him showing her when to clap. Obama’s even more over his head than that.

They were both hilarious.

Critics have said it’s not accurate or funny.

Critics like Chicago’s Maureen Ryan who complained the Armisen doesn’t have the right skin color to impersonate Obama.

Even President-elect Obama disparaged it in an interview, saying “compared to Tina Fey and what she’s doing with Gov. Palin, my imitator isn’t doing that good of a job.”

This is a surprise? Mr. Thin-Skin wouldn’t be satisfied with any impersonate unless its Will Smith or Denzel Washington or Jesus Himself. Obama doesn’t like Armisen’s take because they emphasize his big ears, stutters, and goofy speaking style.Thankfully, Loren Michaels doesn’t bow to pressure too easily. Well, we hope he doesn’t with The One. And surprise, Ryan is still pushing for that affirmative action actor.

Allahpundit, I sure hope we can expect four years of this………

Let’s stop that kind of sh*t right now. This is not DU.

CherokeeJack on November 25, 2008 at 11:49 PM

That second guy was dead on!

HawaiiLwyr on November 26, 2008 at 12:08 AM

I’d like to see SNL bring back Tim Meadows to do BO. He kind of looks like him. See him as Sammy in the following video:

http://www.hulu.com/watch/3517/saturday-night-live-uncle-jemimas-pure-mash-liqour

If you’re offended at this video, call the folks at SNL. They made it, not me.

mikepatr on November 26, 2008 at 12:13 AM

Marvin Hill was spot on. . . He’s got at least 4 years
of employment somewhere.

Texyank on November 26, 2008 at 12:16 AM

Marlin Hill, hands down. I’m still waiting for somebody to do an impression of him trying to sound black. He’s a riot when he’s trying to sound black. God, do I miss Richard Pryor.

warbaby on November 26, 2008 at 12:49 AM

I’d just go with the Japanese guy if I were SNL. Sometimes it’s funnier when you go with completely ubsurd without caring at all about authenticity. Hell, let Andy Samdberg play him.

Typhonsentra on November 26, 2008 at 7:55 AM

I would say just let Darrel Hammond do it (since his Jesse Jackson is so spot on) but he will be busy doing Clinton for the next 4 years. I want to know how they will replace Amy Poheler as Hillary.

Armisen is not that bad.

He has Obama’s fidgets and “uhhhs” down pat.

Squid Shark on November 26, 2008 at 8:13 AM

However, seeing SNL this year bring back Ferrel made me realize how much I missed his GWB compared to the Biden-guy doing it.

Squid Shark on November 26, 2008 at 8:14 AM

If SNL does not pick the first guy up they are wasting 4 years of air time.

MSGTAS on November 26, 2008 at 9:46 AM

I’m almost certain that the first Obama impersonator is also the one who gives the voice to the “thumb debate” here.

Richard Romano on November 26, 2008 at 11:06 AM

I suspect SNL will keep the same one they have in “black-face”! That way they can support diversity idealism.

gary on November 26, 2008 at 11:42 AM

Didn’t expect to see my hometown radio station on here today. I used to listen to WKLH (Milwaukee) on the way in to work each morning. Good impression!

(BTW, Frank Caliendo got his start in the Milwaukee area, partly due to some good airtime on this station.)
