When I say shallow, I mean his stream or pool of people he can pull from is shallow. He has so little time spent in office he doesn’t have a group of experienced people to draw from.
I don’t know anything about him personally, so I just remark on his lack of depth as a leader…it is shallow.
We are saying the same thing…although I doubt he is “lazy” and he certainly is not stupid…foolish and politically naive maybe, but not stupid.

Bwahahahahaha!!!! We lost because we nominated a democrat lite instead of a real conservative. McCain’s disgust for conservative principles at CPAC last year was the capstone of his political attitude toward conservatives. His basic political philosophy can be determined by the legislation he supports. CFR, Shamnesty, etc. His days as a voice in the republican party are drawing to a end. Good riddance to bad trash.

Only if you want nuclear proliferation to spread and NATO to fall apart- the Germans could probably build a bomb in a year or so. Ukraine probably a few years later. Plus, those socialist countries will never pony up for conventional forces. Watch Russia start to run wild if Obama has his way.

Well yeah the deal with the Iraqi government pretty much ends Iraq and Obama wanted to concentrate on Afghanistan anyway. I don’t think this represents some sort back track. It is pretty much what he campaigned on and now with the success of the surge it is the Bush policy too. Everyone should be happy.

Well it will sure be cutesy on the nightly news when Republican Gates, with Obama’s hand up his back, mouthing the common sense of defense cutbacks and base closings.

There actually are lots of bases that still could be closed without harming the military. There’s no reason the Naval War College has to be in Newport, RI. That’s amazingly expensive real estate that costs an arm and a leg to heat…and students have to live in horrible neighborhoods because military pay isn’t up to Newport prices.

Hanscom AFB in Boston–same same. Los Angeles AFB. Everything at Minot AFB could be moved down to Grand Forks, which is a hell of a lot nicer place to live anyway.

Canon AFB in New Mexico is another armpit…those assets could move elsewhere and no AF members would mind. Send everybody to Dyess (Abilene, TX) or Luke (outside Phoenix, AZ) or Creech (northwest of Las Vegas).

1. While SACEUR and EUCOM Commander, the NATO ministers LOVED him. He worked tirelessly to keep NATO together through some rough times with the Bush admin.

3. Jones has most recently been Bush’s Israel-Palestine Security Coordinator, with little success.

How this will work out, if Obama follows through with his promises to drawdown nucs, kill missile defense and divide Jerusalem, will be really interesting. Jones brings some sense of stability, but his policies align closer to Obama than Bush.

Yep, the question is how much damage will Obama do? Carter’s policies are still paying dividens for our enemies and Obama is left of jimah. Armed revolt is looking better everyday……

I understand what you’re saying, and my faith my turn out to bite me in the ass…but it is what it is. The only “professional” the democrats had (being out of power for as long as they were) was Holbrooke. There simply was no other choice. If there had been, then things would be different. But you’re wishing for something that never was man.
