Finally: Palin to meet Obama in Philadelphia

posted at 7:52 pm on November 25, 2008 by Allahpundit

Hope and change? He did forgive Lieberman — although Lieberman never accused him of palling around with terrorists.

Which, of course, he did.

The governor is planning a trip to Georgia to campaign on behalf of Georgia Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss early next week on her way to Philadelphia to meet with her old foe, President-elect Barack Obama.

Obama is meeting with governors of both parties in Philadelphia to talk about the ailing economy. It’s not clear how many governors are going to attend the Obama event, which the National Governors Association helped put together.

“I don’t know if she has a one-on-one with (Obama),” said Palin spokesman Bill McAllister. “It may be, given that they were both involved in the national campaign.” McAllister said Palin will be in Philadelphia on Monday and Tuesday, and the state will pay for it. He said the Chambliss campaign will pay for Palin’s side trip to Georgia.

Surely The One wouldn’t hold a grudge by refusing to meet with her personally, would he? Well, according to Joementum, he tried calling Obama after the election to congratulate him and was told he was busy — and as of last Sunday, hadn’t received a callback since. Hmmm.

Blowback

Palin in GA..I’ll be much more excited about that than having to vote for Saxby! Oh, well,(a lot of) somebody’s got to do it…

beththebaker on November 25, 2008 at 7:56 PM

I hope SarahCuda will be loaded for bear,
politically speaking of course!

canopfor on November 25, 2008 at 7:56 PM

After all the nice things she’s said about him since the election he’d be churlish not to meet with her now. But, from his pov, why should he do anything that would lend credence to the perception that she is a leader in the GOP? He might just let her stew just to show off how powerless she is now. We’ll see how petty he can be.

ramrocks on November 25, 2008 at 8:00 PM

Take him out to a basketball court and “use” his scrawny butt, Sarah!!!

Gohawgs on November 25, 2008 at 8:01 PM

After meeting with Gov. Palin and finding out that she is indeed an articulate, intelligent, and personable woman, Obama’s first words at the post-meet press conference:

“This is not the Sarah Palin I’ve come to know.”

Of course the nutroots will never forgive him and he will have lost a key segment of his base.

Mallard T. Drake on November 25, 2008 at 8:03 PM

I doubt very much that it is one-on-one.
Palin has no “human capital” to bring to the table, now, does she?
What do you think, O Creator of Worlds?
lol.

matoko_chan on November 25, 2008 at 8:03 PM

Surely he won’t be able to look her in the eye because he knows she only told the truth.

So i’m betting a one-on-one is not likely.

However, sociopaths don’t think or feel like the rest of us…

I believe our Sarah truly does not like the Messiah.

I believe she loves her country and views Barry as a grave danger to us all.

She should demand an answer from Barry as to how exactly he plans on keeping us independent from foreign oil.

Let the games begin!

DeweyWins on November 25, 2008 at 8:05 PM

I think I’ll frame that comment there above – you know, the one that calls the President-Elect a sociopath – and whip it out the next time any of the regular crowd here accuses the Kos Kids of being deranged. Just ’cause, you know, I care.

Scary, isn’t it? That’s the power of the presidency. And we have just given unimaginable power to BHO. He can almost behave as tyrannical as the emperors of old and there’s little we can do about it with the Dems controlling everything.

The tone of this story really pisses me off. Like her, hate her, make her perpetual fodder of sexist threads but Palin IS, in fact, one of 50 governors. I’m sick of everybody acting like the HS quarterback just passed a note to the head cheerleader.

DeweyWins on November 25, 2008 at 8:05 PM

She walks a fine line as governor of Alaska. She wants the feds to open up ANWR — though it’s not likely that BHO will do that. I’m not sure if she needs to work with the federal government on her natural gas pipeline, but if she does than she will want to play nice with BHO. That’s politics.

ramrocks on November 25, 2008 at 8:18 PM

O Sublime, I believe Obama only acknowledged Palin 2x during the campaign.
The “wink” tv ad which never actually mentioned palin, and the joke he made that riffed off of her terrorist comment.
I don’t think Obama has ever considered Palin as a political peer.
He never responded to any attacks or to any comparisons with Palins “executive experience” (lol).
It was almost as if McCain was runnin solo…..like Palin didn’t even exist.
Kind of a snub.

Sarah has proven that she takes her position quite seriously and can handle anything. If Obama thinks this meeting is about kissing the ring, she won’t have any of that, unlike her former running mate.

sherry on November 25, 2008 at 8:21 PM

I think many people in the media are bound to make Sarah admit that she was too mean to Obama and apologize for some of the things she said on the stump. Wolf Blitzer tried this already in Miami. They will never forgive her for opposing The One. This is why Sarah should stay the hell away from Oprah Winfrey. It will be an ambush. Same with Babba Wawawawaahh. Screw ‘em.

matoko_chan, If I recall correctly. After the National Republican Convention all Obama talked about was Sarah Palin.

They eventually realized that attacking the vice presidential candiate would bring Obama down a notch and leave McCain harmed.

Indeed.

Funny how I STILL have arguments with liberals where they argue that Obama is a smart guy, and Palin is dumb.

I’m still waiting for all the retroactive admissions that John Edwards, who also had never run anything, was completely unqualified to be VP.

But Palin? The two-time mayor and sitting governor?

Oh, wait, she’s a woman AND a Republican.

Nope, totally unqualified. Oh, and stick her head in the toilet, while you’re at it.

Obama did say that he would be “our President too”, remember? Here is a chance to be all bi-partisanny and changely-hopitude. I wonder if he will take the opportunity, or use it to snub her and hand the media another chance to rip her up for a cycle or two.

If he wants to be my President, show my gal some respect for her current position as Chief Executive of the most energy and mineral rich state in the Union. This could be a win-win for all, if he plays it right.

I was thinking the same thing. And when Palin is at the Governors’ meeting, I’ll be looking to see if she gets the level of press attention she received recently when the Republican Governors met. My guess is, she’ll continue to exude star power out on the campaign trail for Saxby, and draw large, enthusiastic crowds. Having been ‘born and rasied’ down South, I’m anxious to see how Palin is received in the deeper South. When she drew big crowds at The Villages in FL, I didn’t count that location as what i view as the American South.

Further, she’ll attract quite a few media types when in Philly for the Governors’ meeting.

Myriad of out-of-state photo ops? She attended the Republican Governors Association meeting. It’s an annual event that was on her calendar well in advance. Her only other recent “photo op” was turkey pardoning done a mile from her home in Wasilla! Yeah, that really distracted her from governing her state.

You haven’t a clue about what the chief executive of a state does. Your suggestion that time out of state means time away from the job is just idiotic. When the POTUS travels abroad, as he does constantly, does that mean he’s not working? His he just going to all those G8 summits for the photo ops?

Further, she’ll attract quite a few media types when in Philly for the Governors’ meeting.

I think she’s got a fine line to walk there. I think playing it low key is probably the way to go for this meeting. Not that she shouldn’t answer questions, but the press are going to try to create drama. So, I think she’d probably be smart to skip the press avail after the meeting to avoid the inevitable questions about the campaign, etc. Obama and Biden aren’t going to the presser, and she has an easy excuse since she has such a long flight home. She can answer a couple of questions on the way in saying how much she looks forward to working with the administration and promoting Alaska and energy, but leave it at that.

She’ll get plenty of personal press off the Georgia trip. Wish I could go!

If Obama’s first term is marked by bipartisan cooperation with the likes of a Jindal or McCain…he diffuses a “change” election in 2012. benny shakar on November 25, 2008 at 8:56 PM

Yet she has accomplished so much in such a short time.

Obummer on the other hand has never accomplished anything. Before anyone says “He got elected President” I’d like to point out that he did not elect himself. I’m not ready to concede his lakeys ability to drag legions of homeless crackheads to the voting booth any sort of accomplishment of Obummer.

In any event, her presence and her accomplishments should humble him if he has any humility whatsoever.

Oooh…good one Brian. The whole “it’s a free country” argument. What are you, in 2nd grade? Tell me then Brian, what exactly is it about your beloved Sarah that floats your boat. And give me something more that her status as some sort of fundamentalist MILF pinup model clinging to her guns and religion. Or is that it?

Of course it’s yours – consider yourself complimented, by having used it already.

Here’s a little sign of repentance:

Toilet Bug™

Feel free to cut and paste it :)

zorro, at least come up with something original. “Chicago thug”? Really, that’s all you’ve got? Lame.

dakine on November 25, 2008 at 9:06 PM

Take it from someone who lives in Chicago, Zorro’s response was dead-on accurate. Obama has been trained thoroughly as a True Chicago Thug. Holding a grudge is an art form for Chicago politicians.
