Video: Olby devotes six and a half minutes to the Palin turkey clip

posted at 9:50 pm on November 24, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

The purest “Countdown” segment you’ll ever see: Not only is his reaction a foregone conclusion before the tape begins, but the commentary itself is largely dispensed with in favor of a sustained, closed-captioned sneer. Why they don’t use this gimmick for all footage of Republicans, with Olby’s theatrical mugging acting as a form of sign language to the nutroots faithful about precisely how disgusted they should be, I don’t know.

No special comment, at least. In the spirit of the season, for this we give thanks.

Olby only wishes he were a thought bubble that close to Palin.

Right Olby ?

I don’t know why you post the vids of Olby, AP, cause there ain’t a chance in hell I’m gonna watch them. Foregone conclusion indeed. If you’ve watched one tired Olbermann freakout, you’ve watched them all.

Not only is his reaction a foregone conclusion before the tape begins, but the commentary itself is largely dispensed with in favor of a sustained, closed-captioned sneer.

Fact of the matter is that what is going on in the background isn’t all that unusual or appalling in the part of America that isn’t focused on DC, LA, and NYC. The only thing I found annoying in that clip is that idiot who kept jumping in to make comments.

highhopes on November 24, 2008 at 10:08 PM

Keith Olbermann needs to start taking advantage of NBC’s employee assistance program.

sherry on November 24, 2008 at 10:09 PM

You know I get the distinct impression that Olbermann is definitely the type of guy who enjoys being Turkey slapped. The funny thing is though that that clip is probably to closest that Olbermann will ever get to getting a face to face interview with Governor Palin.

Wattlegate

How many idiots think that their “organically raised” turkey ended life with friends and family at the bedside to recount all the good times?

Fact of the matter is that there is a whole lot of steps in the food chain before ground beef ends up in styrofoam trays wrapped in plastic, pork loins appear in the grocery store, or turkey is ready to be stuffed and put in the oven. Of course, it isn’t the background of choice for politicians but let’s not pretend that each and every turkey sold ended life in that way.

Bathtub boy has never seen this clip before but a clip from an 80’s sitcom ready to play? I call bullshit. Not only is this douchebag the Worlds Worst Journalist, he’s not a very good actor either. Number two on my Celebrity Fight Club list, right behind Bill Maher, and ahead of Franken.

marty0378 on November 24, 2008 at 10:20 PM

It goes to show you, it doesn’t take a high IQ or common sense quotient to be a commentator…..

DL13 on November 24, 2008 at 10:21 PM

Now that I’ve seen the “unblurred” version, I can’t figure out why there was ever a blurred version. I’m not a farm girl or a huntress, never seen an animal killed, so it’s not like I have a high tolerance for that sort of thing, but it didn’t bother me at all. But apparently, I’m supposed to be outraged or grossed out or something. Whatever Keith.

tikvah on November 24, 2008 at 10:23 PM

Why does Keith Olbermann need the turkey clip? He can attack her on her accomplishments as a governor and her moral character.

Tommy_G on November 24, 2008 at 10:23 PM

D’ohbermann makes it a point to say the “dumbest things I’ve ever heard.”

While he was wasting his attention on the fate of the turkey, he totally missed Palin’s explanation of the fiscal responsibility that she was aiming for in shaping Alaska’s budget. What a moron!

I have never heard Olbermann critique anyone on the left for anything. I never heard him mention William “Cold Cash” Jefferson, Tim “I’ll destroy my mistresses” Mahoney or any of the lobby money that Nancy Peloski gets. He mentioned Edwards is a “Stern-Fatherly” kind of way and lamented the mandatory time he’ll have to spend away from politics. Has anyone ever heard of him go after a Dem?

Dead on!!

What really needs to be hammered is the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee Charlie Rangel and all the taxes he
has been skipping out on.
I mean come on man,this is bullsh!t.
Joe the Plumber having a $1200.00 tax lien made front pages.
This corrupt liberal is getting a total pass:

CHARLIE’S LATEST CHEAT

http://www.nypost.com/seven/11242008/postopinion/editorials/charlies_latest_cheat_140422.htm

Here’s a good rule of thumb: If Charlie Rangel owns it, you can bet the tax man’s not getting his fair share.

Get ready for the liberals and their “swift boating”,”this is just a distraction” lines to cover and protect anyone who
who has a (D) beside their name:

STEP DOWN, CHARLIE

http://www.nypost.com/php/pfriendly/print.php?url=http://www.nypost.com/seven/09172008/postopinion/editorials/step_down__charlie_129514.htm
September 17, 2008 —

So much for the Democrats’ promise to “clean house” in Congress.
Rangel’s moral claim to any top leadership post became debatable in the wake of the revelations of his four rent-stabilized apartments (one of them used as a campaign office) and his failure to report $75,000 in rental income from a Caribbean beachfront villa.
And he certainly didn’t help himself with a series of astonishingly inept excuses – capped by his ham-fisted “they were all speaking Spanish” defense.

And you can bet, that if super smart and ethical Nancy is not covering for cold cash Jefferson, then she is covering for this lying corrupt liberal.

And, after two closed-door sitdowns with him in 12 hours, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she has no intention of stripping him of his prestigious position – no matter how big an embarrassment he’s become.
“I see no reason why Mr. Rangel should step down,” she said yesterday.

No,No,No, lets spend all our time getting our panties all in a wad because Palin dares to actually support and gladly share air time with the middle class working Americans that
liberals always talk about from their wine tasting adventures and coffee shops.

Hell, if olberwuss ever gets invited to sleep at the whitehouse, the Ghost of Theodore Roosevelt will wake his sorry butt up at 3 in the morning and practice judo throws bouncing olberdung off the walls for about an hour or so.

Next, Olbermann will find that the he is the grizzly attacking Roosevelt in the Badlands as Theodore lines up and puts a round through his brain.

Then back to the whitehouse where Roosevelt makes olbercrap box with him. Olberschuck throws innefective girly punches while Theodore lands punch after solid punch.

At 5 am the staffers hear crying and whining coming from oblbergirl’s bedroom. They enter to find olbersh*t in a fetal postion crying and sucking his thumb with yellow and brown stains over the sheets.

The obamas wake up and hear a ghostly but loud voice going down the hallway “BY JOVE THAT WAS BULLY!! I WILL RETURN TOMORROW TO SHARE MORE OF THE STRENUOUS LIFE”

I had two young men, one in the Navy, one Army in my home tonight who are home on leave. In years past, we have taken these boys hunting, fishing, vacations, et al. I’ve baby-sat them and councilled them during adolescent love affairs. I can remember chastising them and pow-wowing with their parents on the mutual punishments we would hand out to our kids for some pretty bad crap that they did. (Mostly stupid: bad from our standpoint but not bad from a headlines standpoint.) I’ve seen them go through both trouble and triumph. And the most important part??
I am so very proud of them both for protecting our nation and our way of life. I have told them this in no uncertain terms many, many times. Kinda puts it into prospective though when people, who’s diapers you have changed are fighting like dogs for your freedom. God bless these soldiers!

Mallard T. Drake on November 25, 2008 at 12:00 AM

I think Sarah Palin borrowed a page from Mike Rowe on this. He’s proven with his successful series “Dirty Jobs” that the public wants to see people do the dirty work that makes society tick. I think she did a service by reminding the people that someone has to despatch the turkeys they eat on Thanksgiving.

ivrydov on November 25, 2008 at 12:00 AM

olby looks constipated for most of that video..

DaveC on November 25, 2008 at 12:02 AM

I have just recently moved from suburban Sydney to it’s semi-rural outskirts. A few miles from me is a slaughterhouse. I know what happens to the sheep and cattle that are huddled up next to it.

These people need to see how the other half live once in a while.

Crux Australis on November 25, 2008 at 12:12 AM

If the Khalidi video were released, Olbermann would hail it in his Hitler-like fashion. The man is clearly damaged and I am beginning to feel bad for the man. I know McCain joked about him living in a room with padded walls, but it’s probably more than that. He is likely straight-jacketed for 23 hours a day.

The left goes apesh1t over this non-story but think everything thrown at Obama was a “distraction.” All I can say is that I hope this is the nature of the attacks on Palin in the future.

V15J on November 25, 2008 at 12:25 AM

I don’t get the media hoopla about the background reality to the Palin Turkey-pardoning.

If you eat whatever that at some point was alive (even plants), then there’s been an act someplace in the line of food processing that took that life and delivered you “food.”

Human beings today, so out of touch with reality.

You know, I get that Olberdick’s shtick is to be the grand poobah leftwing douchebag, and that’s fine. I have little objection to that. If he wants to be a buffoon and flaunt his witless ignorance to his audience of morons, viva the free market!

What I object to, however, is the way that this imbecilic clown is allowed to position himself not merely as a clown but also as a newsman. That’s the part that grinds my cheese.

Perhaps it’s dOlberman’s own way of trying to shield himself from further parody…by becoming a self-parody.
