Put me down as another conservative who prays for the day when Hannity is replaced as a spokesman for the Right. KP would hand him his lunch. Let's hope Fox replaces Colmes with another incompetent leftist. Hannity is just simply not bright enough to handle anyone with even a smidgen of intelligence. Simply put, I'm embarrassed by him.

This gives Fox a chance to dump the whole show. Start a brand new solo show with someone else like Larry Elder, John Gibson, or Dennis Miller.

I don't vote for any of these bcs I don't know all of them.
I think Hannity needs a counterweight, but it needs to be an intelligent liberal (where are those people?!).
Maybe there is no such thing, but it would be nice to see people actually debate intelligently rather than use emotion.
One thing for sure, I don't want to see Hannity go away, but sometimes he needs to chill out.
We still need a passionate conservative like him around.

I vote for Carville because when Mary comes on it will be really fun politics. On second thought, it's not worth the pain.
*Speaking of "pain" (in the arse), that would be Beckel. The left wing bearer of left wing talking points. No practical discussions there. He never veers from that stance.
*Powers? Hmmmmm Much too serious, no animation.
*Juan? I like him most of the time. He's been a mostly fair moderator, so would hate to see him put in a position where he would be required to be a left wing hack.
*Susan? I can't get past the voice (no fault of her own)to listen to her opinions.
*Hannity alone? Too much for this type of format.

How about this?
A right wing panel: Hannity, Levin, Matlin, Ingraham,& guests.
A left wing panel: Powers, Estrich, Beckel, Carville & guests.
Mon and Wed: right wing
Tue and Thurs: left wing
Friday: reps from both sides discuss the week in review.
A win, win for all.
I can plan Tues and Thurs for the History channel or ?.

KP = Beauty and the Beast, not sure which would be considered the beast yet.

Beckel = arguing with Jaba the Hut.

Estrich = an hour of Estrich voice is worse than an hour in the hot box of a prison camp.

Carville = the best way to show the world the way liberals really think about you the public and the result would be either an exodus from the left or a strengthening or right when they really see what the left intends to do to U.S.

My votes for Powers

I have watched and listened to Powers go from your typical left wing talking head in the 04 campaign to someone who does a pretty decent job of expressing her viewpoints factually and without very much vitriol.
Do I agree with a lot her viewpoints,no.
But I am able to listen to her opinions without it pissing me the he$$ off.
I listen to her on Fox and Brian and the Judge to get a solid understanding about the lefts viewpoints and direction which makes me research my positions deeper to make sure I am making an informed opinion or decision.

I think she would give as good as she gets, and not dish out
anything she could not take unlike most liberals.

Hannity would have his hands full.

Ok, if Colmes is getting a new show and Glenn Beck is getting a new show, and O'Reilly stays, who gets bumped from the FNC evening line up?

Does the Hannity show go away?

A little history lesson for the Begala/Carville supporters:

Once upon a time, CNN had a discussion forum show called Crossfire. For many years, men like Tom Braden and a not yet Moonbat Michael Kinsley debated from the left while men like a not yet bitter and deranged Pat Buchanan and Bob Novak debated the issues of the day.

It started out with Braden and Buchanan in 1982 and according to my dad (wasn't watching it myself back then, y'know, being five years old at the time) it was an excellent discourse and must see TV, for people seeking to be informed at least.

Bob Novak signed on in 1985, during a Buchanan sabatical (the first of many) and in 1989, Braden signed off for the last time and Kinsley took the Left Chair.

John Sununu joined the crew in 1992, mostly as a replacement for Buchanan, (yet another sabatical), ushering in, for my money, the show's golden age.

Then Kinsley split after '95, replaced by the "man" that I believe Alan Colmes has always aspired to be, Bill Press and the woman he always wished he was Geraldine Ferraro. Bill Press can't be described as anything other than a smug jerk, but at least he pretended to listen to opposing viewpoints. Ferraro had some credibility back then also.

Meanwhile, over on the Right, Mary Matalin jumped into the rotation in '99 after Sununu left in '98. Tucker Carlson replaced Matalin in 2001 when she took a job on Cheaney's staff.

I'd been watching since 1992 at that point and, while Press seemed to bring the civility level down a couple notches a raise the demagouging level up a couple, at least it was still watchable.

In 2002, Bill Press left and CNN decided to hire Clintonistas Jim Carville and Paul Begala.

It was the beginning of the end.

Prior to that point, the guys and gals on the show had been mostly pundits with a few of them actually being politicians and a few of them having held political appointments.

Carville and Begala were a departure from that dynamic. A dramatic departure from that dynamic as neither were pundits or elected officials or appointees, but were the slimiest of all beasts: political hatchetmen.

For those of you who didn't see the show in it's death throws (I stopped watching about 6 months in to the Begala/Carville run) the show ceased to be a forum or pannel discussion, and instead turned into a constant political attack campaign from the Left side of the panel.

Best moment of that period?

Novak walking off the show in mid-broadcast declaring he didn't have to take Begala/Carville's "sh!t".

By June of 2005, a once proud and informative televised forum for informed debate was dead.

Begala and Carville were THE reason that show died.

Supporting either of those hacks to replace Colmes is basically the same thing as saying "I want Hannity to lose a show.".

Ever wonder why neither of those tools has gotten a regular TV gig since then?

Someone said Ferraro & Hannity. I think that would be a good team. She's pretty sharp, but doesn't raise her voice. I like that.

I'm so sick of the common theme of whoever can talk over someone the best. I'd really like to see some civil debates on the points as opposed to someone spouting talking points and trying to score zingers. (that goes for both sides)

Not Juan Williams. Working for Fox — that is, not working with his side’s choir — has had a moderating influence on him. Best not to put him in a position where he has to… take the position.

Same thought here. Juan's too reasonable to fit the niche. Ditto for KP. I only voted for her because there was no "other" choice by itself, and I didn't want my vote misinterpreted as a vote for James Carville (who shouldn't be picked either, IMHO).

I vote for Kirsten Powers (no relation to Austin)

If she doesn't take the job, how about one of the following: Kathleen Parker, Peggy Noonan, George Will, Brooks, Frum, Colin Powell, Adelman, baby Buckley, et al?

Hope the screen door doesn't hit Colmes on his way out...

Carville so there won't be any sympathy when his neck gets stepped on.

I like KP, for a Dem she demostrates quite a bit she has some good sense. Wouldn't be any fun watching her have to defend idiotic democratic stances night in and night out.
