Does anyone know FOR CERTAIN (I've seen implications in both directions) whether the "challenged ballots" are counted but over-turnable, or will only be counted after the challenge is adjudicated?

If they are counted, but have the potential to be overturned, I see an advantage for the team that has challenged the most; if they are not counted until challenges decided, there would be an advantage for the team that has challenged the least.

So, anybody know FOR SURE?

Hmmm

"Lucas Davenport"

Are we sure that is this guys name??

"Lucas Davenport" is the name of John Sandford's hero cop, based in Minnesota, in about 10-13 best selling novels (the "Prey" series)

strange coincidence if the guy is on the level

adagio

I bet they all believe that, too, y'know? It doesn't take too much of a leap to believing different "cultures" shouldn't be expected to obey the law, either. Jesus.

And you know what? Sadly, I imagine Samuel Barber was a liberal, too. But damn, that is the most stunning chord resolution.

re: "The recount melodrama could drag on for another month, with Franken favored to eke out a victory thanks to the fact that so many Democratic voters are 'free-spirited,' i.e. stupid."

Apparently, that is not a paraphrase, but a direct quote from an attorney :

“Democrats are [thought to be] more creative, free-spirited, so the idea is they’re more likely to make a mistake that the optical scan won’t pick up,” explains Hentges. “But when they recount the hard copy, those votes will be counted for Franken. If you talk to Republicans, they say it will be Franken’s advantage, because Democrats are stupid and will screw up ballots more often.”

See? This is a side of conservatism that the libs and the MSM never get to see. There's comedy-gold on this thread!

By the way, I went to the LP website and their platform is simple, straightforward, and can be summed-up in two words:

When an elections close enough to require a recount, we should just flip a coin with all due ceremony, and be civilized about the result. Why do we sacralize the difference of a handful of votes in a million vote election?

I prefer pistols at 20 paces.

Well - what if we institute my coin flip suggestion - but also bring back dueling?

Deal?

As for the other criticisms:

1) "every vote counts shame on me" (highhopes)

As far as anyone knows in my scenario, every vote WAS counted. Plus we've already seen that some ballots aren't as equal as others, and don't get counted for any range of reasons, good and bad and arguable. And anyway, would a Coleman victory mean that the Franken votes didn't "count"?

2) "alternative complicated whole bunch of balls procedure" njcommuter

Nyah - keep it simple. A coin flip. And not one of those funky Obama coins. An Indian Head nickel maybe, or a Liberty Silver Half-Dollar.

We could give it to the loser along with other parting gifts and our sincere thanks.

As for putting Franken in, is he really so much more embarassing than Barbara Boxer or Robert Byrd, among others? The whole thing's going to Hades. Having Franken up there would be a standing reminder that they're a bunch of comedians, and that it's past time (and getting even further past time) to get serious about the unfinished part of the Reagan Revolution, the part about shrinking the federal government down and getting it out of our lives.

When an elections close enough to require a recount, we should just flip a coin with all due ceremony, and be civilized about the result. Why do we sacralize the difference of a handful of votes in a million vote election?

Well – what if we institute my coin flip suggestion – but also bring back dueling?

Deal?

As for the other criticisms:

All this stuff counts because, as John Kenneth Galbraith said in response to von Bismarck's "Politics is the art of the possible", "Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists in choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable."

What that means, in simple terms, is that anybody who didn't vote for McCain and Coleman voted for 0bama and Franken. End of story. The endless hairsplitting ignores the simple reality that this time the choice was between the unpalatable and the disastrous. The self-indulgence of the navel-gazers allowed gangsters to steal our Presidency.

Other threads on this site are still nattering about how "unfair the media coverage was", and how "we'll never listen to them again." Difficult as it is to accept, those smirky little snots with the "Kill Your Television" t-shirts are right. If you even waste the breath to complain about the crap that is, and has always been, on television, you're just playing with yourself.

The election's over. We lost, and the thugs that won don't care that we're indignant about it. Everybody better just pay attention to the fact that we're in a war here. Feeling like you won something because Allan Colmes quit is the act of a child, and plays right into the hands of the hard left.

you wouldn't get an argument from me. I am totally astounded at the stupidity of those who voted for Franken. Is BDS so pervasive?... Good Lord!
