Obama advisors: Um, it might take five years to solve our economic problems

Via Breitbart, let the halo removal begin. I wonder, who’s going to be the one to tell Peggy Joseph that she might have to worry about paying her mortgage after all?

Hey, Bob? If things still look grim three and a half years from now, rest assured, you won’t have to worry about solving those problems anymore.

Four years will be long enough to get this Mistake out of the White House

two years will get us a repeat of 1994

Is that Jerry Stiller?

mylegsareswollen on November 21, 2008 at 6:07 PM

What!!!!??? You mean the messiah can’t just say ‘Peace, be still’ and all our problems be solved. But.. but.. what about hope…and change….?

Obama wrote the 2012 commercials already, didnt he?

He had one ad that said “how will things be in 4 years from now?”

lorien1973 on November 21, 2008 at 6:09 PM

Yeah, BECAUSE YOU ALL ARE CAUSING IT AND NEED IT TO PUSH THROUGH YOUR DEMONIC AGENDA TO DESTROY AMERICA.

I could be wrong, though.

Mommypundit on November 21, 2008 at 6:09 PM

No maybe 4 years when the obamanation get voted out!! Then the economy might recover

grapeknutz on November 21, 2008 at 6:09 PM

Might have wanted to say nine years just to cover their asses a bit better.

OneGyT on November 21, 2008 at 6:09 PM

Where exactly is Obama hiding these days? Trying to avoid getting the stink of the auto bailout on his hands? Or did he have a breakdown when he realized all eyes would be on him to solve the mess that his fellow Dipocraps got us into?

anniekc on November 21, 2008 at 6:10 PM

Without any manufacturing jobs, I don’t think unemployment will ever drop below eight again.

A five-year plan from the Obama Administration? Who would have thought.

Mommypundit on November 21, 2008 at 6:09 PM

You are not wrong.

The socialism agenda push begins through setting expectations.

Kini on November 21, 2008 at 6:11 PM

Five year plan?

I’ve heard that somewhere before…

catmman on November 21, 2008 at 6:11 PM

I guess, with all this talk of BHO being the new FDR, they started looking at FDR’s actual record on the economy. Five years would be overly optimistic, by that measure.

progressoverpeace on November 21, 2008 at 6:11 PM

Oh crap. I was expecting the markets to bounce back on January 20.

Obama is going to vote present for the next two years then he will calm the waters. But hey don’t worry the main stream media will tell us how great he is doing.

blueboat on November 21, 2008 at 6:13 PM

Heck, all of us know what to do. Why will it take four years for them to get it done? I hate on the job training!

BetseyRoss on November 21, 2008 at 6:14 PM

I guess in 2012 either BHO will have to resort to running for reelection based on his looks OR his SoS Ms. Clinton will resign her SoS job before 2012 to start running again for POTUS herself. Now that will be a fun campaign to watch.

Unfortunately for BHO, a president does not tend to retain his looks after 4 to 8 years in the Oval Office. Clinton and Bush 43 both look like badly aged cheese at the end of their terms.

Sweetness0726 on November 21, 2008 at 6:15 PM

Obama is going to vote present for the next two years

blueboat on November 21, 2008 at 6:13 PM

You bring up a good point, but BHO will have to adjust to the Presidential equivalent of voting ‘present’. I have a feelng that we are going to see a lot of bills turn into law with no Presidential signature over the next years.

progressoverpeace on November 21, 2008 at 6:17 PM

This reminds me of the newly-hired football coach who, when asked how long it would take to make the team a contender, replied “Four years.”

Late, after he was fired, he was asked why he said “Four years.”

“Because I had a three year contract. If I had a four year contract I would have said five years.”

Every time I hear or see Robert Reich, I feel strangely compelled to skip down the yellow brick road. Indubitably.

However, if it’s going to take five years, then we certainly can’t take the risk of a change of administration in four. So let’s just cancel the next election.

It will take at least one re-election, of course.

And if the economy gets worse in the next four years, it will all be BUSH’S FAULT!

Reporter in 2010: “Pres. Obama, Congress has implemented all of the programs you suggested and yet the DOW refuses to rise above 2000. How do you explain this.”

Obama: “Well, sweetie. The Bush Depression is so bad that it will take at least another two years to get out of it. And more spending. And taxes. And regulations.”

Reporter: “I want to have your child. I’m in room 205, here’s the keys.”

End of interview.

A] get Congress to authorize a 5 year extension to the Bush tax cuts…
B] lower the Cap-gains tax to 10%…
C] lower the Corp-tax to 10%…
D] public repudiation of ‘cap-and-trade’…
E] sponsor a FEDERAL ‘right-to-work’ law…
F] declare a 5 year moratorium on all eco-litigation involving energy (and energy resource) production…
G] declare intent to negotiate free trade agreements with any democratic state that wishes to do so…
H] make a ten-year moratorium on internet taxes…
I] add ten years to all CAFE targets…
J] sponsor ‘loser-pays’ tort reform…

Hmmm…that ought to be a good start. If everyone agrees, it shouldn’t take more than a month. Now then, wasn’t that easy…

Then we could have a 1] growth-oriented economy, 2] lots of people making money [at least the ones who want to work...], and 3] the government gets lots of tax income.

Ooops…I forgot. Our new ‘Dear Leader’ is only [truthfully] interested in one of the three above…

Why haven’t the libs figured out yet that this man has absolutely no idea what to do and never did. He sold them a bill of goods and now they are calling in their markers. Let’s see how long the masses can stay quiet (i.e. Jesse Jackson). Maybe five months, but not five years. Your campaign promises have spun out of control, haven’t they?

He is not worried about restoring confidence to the public, he is only worried about not having to call the UHaul in 2012.

A 5-year plan. How convenient, since elections are scheduled every 4 years. That means in 2012, they can say, our plan comes to fruition next year if you re-elect us.

Unfortunately for the obama, the voting public doesn’t have that same sense of a 5-year patience. If the economy is not humming right along by March 2012, at the latest, it will be too late for them. And the very thing that brought them to power, will cost them power. The bad economy giveth, and the bade economy taketh away. It’s poison for any sitting party.

That sounds about right.

First 1-2 years making the problems worse by trying to play FDR.

Next 1-2 years, after a major course change(maybe socialism ain’t so hot and capitalism done right ain’t so bad after all), recovering from that.

Then, with the major course change still in place, solving the problems.

Well, my investment accounts and my retirement plans would dearly love to see economic recovery within TWO years, but that would happen only if Obama is smart and brave enough to dump or defer his taxing, spending and wealth redistribution plans.

And if the economy is still bad four years from now, the Obama administration and Democrats will blame it all on Bush. Whether the argument will pass muster with the electorate then, who knows.
