Jim Martin #11: Gun rights

The NRSC has another in its series of web ads in the Saxby Chambliss/Jim Martin runoff race for the Senate seat in Georgia. Today they take a closer look at Jim Martin’s record on guns:
As I noted before, this goes back to his questionnaire answers in 2000 at Project Vote Smart, and Martin’s not completely awful on Second Amendment issues. He wants increased background checks on gun-show purchases and mandatory child-locks on firearms, which the NRA opposes but aren’t exactly gun-grabbing, either. Martin wants better enforcement of existing gun laws, which the NRA also wants. He opposes concealed-carry, which is just foolish, and for some reason opposes the 10-year minimum sentencing for anyone carrying an unauthorized weapon on school grounds.
The bigger issue with Martin and guns is whether he would stand up to Barack Obama on gun-control legislation. Martin has practically campaigned as Obama’s Igor during the general campaign and the run-off, telling voters that Obama needs him to ensure that his platform sails through Congress. Obama cut a 60-second radio spot for Martin with the same message. Who wants to bet their guns on Martin, with that kind of rhetoric?
It’s another reason to act now to help re-elect Saxby Chambliss to the Senate. You can help by contributing to Saxby Chambliss here or at the NRSC, and learning more about Martin’s record here.

Is there a way to see how all these adds are playing with the Georgia voters.

Woohoo another gun nut thread… *grabs popcorn*

This is really a weak stab at an ad: no video/audio from Martin?
Come guys, you can do better than this.
You’d better do better than this!

benny, guns scare you, don’t they? Don’t be ashamed to admit it. That phobia may have something to do with the bedwetting problem. The first step is admitting the problem, then we can move on to helping you.

If memory serves, these are web-only. So they’re not affecting anyone who doesn’t deliberately go to see them.

bennyshakar Troll, why are you here? Doesn’t your wrist get tired?

Benny Shakar,
There’s no such thing as a “gun nut”; the people you lump into that group are indeed “Freedom” nuts, or simply, nuts about freedom.
Yes, I place myself in that group.
If you consider yourself a freedom nut but not a gun nut, then I am suspicious of what you consider “freedom.” Hint: it’s not freedom in the same sense as what other countries call it, such as India’s “Freedom to be employed.” That’s just feel-good hot air, something real freedom nuts avidly abhor.

benny shakar, you, like most leftists, hate the Constitution because it affirms our rights to speech, to own firearms, and hold those accountable that would attempt to take those rights away; that frightens you, doesn’t it?
Barrack Obamanazi, his lap-dog Eric Holder and the Democrat Fascists in Congress will try to end-run the Constitution in trying to prohibit constitutional rights guaranteed in the First and Second Amendments which will again be the end to Democrat power in Congress.

You could ask me.
I live about 15 minutes north of Atlanta. I have never seen any of the ads that have been featured here on HA.
Saxby is 4 points up in the polls here. It’s impossible to predict what’s going to happen in this topsy turvy world of ours…but my guess would be that more conservatives would be willing to head out to the polls again than the other side.
Only time will tell.

My daughter and I went to vote today (early voting)…We both voted for Saxby.

Just bought two more fire sticks in anticipation of tax hikes or bans. hehe

I hope that sucker Martin doesn’t win! I love my guns, anyone tries to come to my door and take them. Well, they won’t walk away. I won’t give up my guns. Is not the gun that kills. It is the person with the gun. Wish these stupid Liberal’s would realize a fact. But, they can’t go on a fact. Pathetic sheep Liberal’s and the Obamabot sheep like Benny shakar.

Great ad. Fine work by Chambliss’ people.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Why couldn’t the McCain campaign have put out some flashy ads like this to grab the eye of the attention-challenged MTV generation?
Instead, every one of McCain’s ads ended with a close up of his face with what appeared to be dust swirling around him. And of course he “approved” every one of them. Made him look like an old relic. That’s one reason why he got his ass kicked.
Who the heck was making those ads for McCain/Palin? They should never work for another R candidate again.

Please people of Georgia…OUR guns are in your hands. I will continue to “cling to my guns and religion” as long as the Dummycrats are in control.

This also points out the weakness of the McCain campaign. McCain REFUSED to touch Obama’s hatred of the 2nd Amendment with a 10 foot pole.
