Video: Palin rocked by Turkeygate

posted at 10:07 pm on November 20, 2008 by Allahpundit

Starts cute, then takes a turn at around 2:30. Pay attention to the mocking chyrons as the video rolls, which are par for the course on this network for this particular politician. They could have and should have treated this lightly, as a shared laugh at a goofy moment, but Shuster’s tone at the very end says it all.

Adding to the discomfort: Hearing the ‘Cuda repeatedly utter the word “amnesty.” Shudder.

Palin lied and turkeys died.

NeoKong on November 20, 2008 at 10:11 PM

I went tofurkey hunting once.

Didn’t get one though.

It’s funny because they’re serious. Anyone wanna bet David Shuster eats over-priced steaks and poultry and some NYC restaurant?

SouthernGent on November 20, 2008 at 10:15 PM

joey24007 on November 20, 2008 at 10:11 PM

Don’t waste bandwidth with a non-comment like “Who cares?” If you don’t care, don’t comment.

Allahpundit on November 20, 2008 at 10:16 PM

Anybody who has a problem with this shouldn’t be eating turkey on Thanksgiving. They weren’t born dead and ready to be shipped to your local grocery store.

Mark1971 on November 20, 2008 at 10:17 PM

Don’t waste bandwidth with a non-comment like “Who cares?” If you don’t care, don’t comment.

I meant … why does MSNBC care enough to report it

joey24007 on November 20, 2008 at 10:17 PM

they think it will make Sarah look bad.

ousoonerfan15 on November 20, 2008 at 10:18 PM

I forgot to mention that I demand MSNBC show what goes on during an abortion.

SouthernGent on November 20, 2008 at 10:18 PM

As for Schuster, sorry bud, but you’re a backbencher and always will be; no name at an ignored network.

Bishop on November 20, 2008 at 10:19 PM

Mmmmmmm….. Turkey.

CurtZHP on November 20, 2008 at 10:19 PM

She’s a great sport. Her “Amnesty Speech” was way too long though. As for the Turkey killing, I doubt it would bother a woman who enjoys killing, gutting and eating wild animals at her pleasure.

Liberal weenies are taken aback by such a mild display of “gore”. They seriously have no comprehension about the nature of food. To them, food is a magical thing that appears all wrapped up at the grocery store.

Guardian on November 20, 2008 at 10:19 PM

UGH, who approved this terrible shtick. Absolutely awful. The post shtick interview was pretty funny though.

muyoso on November 20, 2008 at 10:19 PM

Oh, that wasn’t even close to the worst possible backdrop. I mean, she could have been in the MSNBC newsroom.

Snowed In on November 20, 2008 at 10:19 PM

I eat meat and all, but it pains me to see this.
I love animals, but I do respect hunters and those that bring food to the table.
Sarah, choose your interview locales wisely.

But,but,but,what about the whales!

canopfor on November 20, 2008 at 10:20 PM

I guess at Schuster’s house they eat the turkey with feathers on and head attached.

Note to David: Here’s a shocker for you Nancy, foul are slaughtered before they get to the supermarket.

What a goofball. Obviously he never spent any time near a farm, or America’s heartland.

fogw on November 20, 2008 at 10:21 PM

Thankful: David Shuster isn’t on my side. Don’t have to defend/vouch for him or his intelligence.

silverfox on November 20, 2008 at 10:21 PM

Actually, this is as humane as turkey killing gets. And they appeared as healthy well-kept birds. Where’s the beef here?

It’s just another slow news day.

manwithblackhat on November 20, 2008 at 10:23 PM

Does MSNBC even try to be a news channel anymore? What ever will they do when their selected candidate is at the top and they have to bag the snide commentary for four years?

alflauren on November 20, 2008 at 10:24 PM

Oh, I left this out.

Sarah always looks gorgeous.

fogw on November 20, 2008 at 10:25 PM

Gosh,, do you mean to say they actually kill the turkeys before we eat them????

JellyToast on November 20, 2008 at 10:27 PM

OMFG! What an odd backdrop, given what she was talking about.

Unless you never eat turkey, no crying about how they die. I know it looks bad, but it’s one of the most humane ways for them to go.

BadgerHawk on November 20, 2008 at 10:27 PM

What a cold hearted b-itch! Palin’s lucky Alaska doesn’t have the death penalty or I would’ve had done to her what was done to that turkey!

barry norris on November 20, 2008 at 10:27 PM

What a bunch of bugs at that network.I want to put that candy ass Shuster in a headlock and give him a wedgie.
I notice he doesn’t make fun of Chelsea Clinton anymore as he almost lost his job.

NeoKong on November 20, 2008 at 10:27 PM

Oh, and MSNBC is a joke. You could use those exact same captions on the bottom in an onion video.

BadgerHawk on November 20, 2008 at 10:27 PM

This is the main problem with liberals…the pardon was for one turkey, not all of them.

this is going on BEHIND her but withing camera range.

HOW CONEVNIENT!

not “unfortunate” but STAGED.

fogw on November 20, 2008 at 10:29 PM

I actually love how it doesn’t even occur to Sarah that people would be bothered by the turkey-slaughtering…she’s had to live a practical life from the day she was born.

Shuster would lose his lunch at the sight of arugula being chopped.

Jim62sch on November 20, 2008 at 10:30 PM

what’s with the censor blur over the turkey? like we’ll be throw chunks if we see one step in our dinner prep?

why not use that censor blur whenever pelosi is on tv? talk about nausous

gatorboy on November 20, 2008 at 10:31 PM

I eat meat and all, but it pains me to see this.

jencab on November 20, 2008 at 10:20 PM

Don’t feel bad for the turkeys. Their head comes off quick, and there’s no pain for the bird. Plus, those turkeys looked really healthy and well fed, and weren’t overcrowded. They had a pretty good life.

BadgerHawk on November 20, 2008 at 10:31 PM

Eh. I am a meat eater and know these things go on, but I do wish they could have cropped it a bit. I don’t think any less of Palin and I am still eating turkey on Thanksgiving, I just don’t want to see how it gets to my plate. A lot tougher people than me go hunt. I just want the end result. The process kinda grosses me out (I know, I’m such a girl.)

However, I am far more disgusted at having clicked on an MSNBC Countdown link. Shuster…yuck!

XWing5 on November 20, 2008 at 10:31 PM

Fuck MSNBC.

Stankleberry on November 20, 2008 at 10:32 PM

Wanted what as a background? Note Shuster didn’t say. That would at least provide a context.

Anyway, where does he, and his other leftist sycophants, think that meat in their supermarkets come from? Growing under the asparagus already dressed and wrapped?

My grandfather used to tear off the heads of chickens in front of me (I was 9 or 10 at the time). My mother disapproved, but I thought it was fascinating. By the way, no supermarket chicken can ever match the flavor of fresh chicken. Pluck those feathers off, cut it up, then deep fry it in an iron pan. Umm, ummm, I can taste it now.

joey24007 on November 20, 2008 at 10:29 PM

It sounded like she knew and was cool with it. It’s just odd to see it as a visual, when she’s talking about being happy to be there as a part of the event (talking about the turkey pardon, not the turkey slaughter).

BadgerHawk on November 20, 2008 at 10:33 PM

who knows maybe the person taking the interview set her up and she didnt notice…i do agree she needs a good PR person to not allow this to happen….its pretty ridiculous…but i cannot believe MSNBC “Turkeys Die as Palin does interview” lmao too funny.

Conservator23 on November 20, 2008 at 10:33 PM

I love it. The best part is when she was clearly upset they were pardoning a big one. Heh.

The head choppin’ was choice, too. Why the hell would she noticed? She field dresses animals that weight a hundred times as much as that turkey.

Editor on November 20, 2008 at 10:33 PM

I love Sarah, but I would still love to see the SNL/Fargo woodchipper take on this starring Tina Fey and Fred Arminsen as the creepy guy in the background.

Did they really do a “Breaking News” segment for this? MSNBC is pathetic.

John on November 20, 2008 at 10:34 PM

Looks to me like Alaska has the death penalty. I had to laugh at it. Some day this will be a classic.

boomer on November 20, 2008 at 10:35 PM

The same people upset over this can’t understand why Sarah didn’t abort Trig.

Just to really tick them off, I think they should have waterboarded the turkeys first.

The hotair audience for this clip was probably larger than the audience for the tv show. Thanks once again to another Palin-obsessed (and not in a good way) reporter: Allahpundit.

ashleymatt on November 20, 2008 at 10:40 PM

With the blur on there and my ignorance about how they typically get snuffed out, I was not even sure exactly what was happening in the background(I have seen the chicken neck snap thing before – not one of my greater memories). I got that they were getting “prepared” for dinner, but I couldn’t figure out the specifics or why it took so long. Though I guess it was all that extra movement at the end he had to wait for. Great to see right before bedtime…. ;)

Attorney general collapses
By MIKE ALLEN | 11/20/08 10:22 PM EST Text Size:

Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed Thursday night while giving a speech to the Federalist Society in Washington, according to three senior administration officials.

Details about Mukasey’s condition were not immediately available.

Audience members said they began praying, fearing a stroke.

Mukasey is a former federal prosecutor from New York City who succeeded former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

At 10:30 p.m. Eastern, medical officials were still working on him on the stage, administration witnesses said.

As a wise ol country lawyer said “Don’t crap in your neighbor’s crapper” then with a wink he drove off in his old red pickup truck.

Bradky on November 20, 2008 at 10:45 PM

Typical liberals. “Let them eat cake soy.”

I’ll take Uncle Ted’s advice.

If you want to save a species, simply decide to eat it. Then it will be managed – like chickens, like turkeys, like deer, like Canadian geese.

and then there is this classic…

Vegetarians are cool. All I eat are vegetarians – except for the occasional mountain lion steak.

Bwahahahahahaa!!!!

Only the tools who watch Olberdouche would be bothered by this and think she should have done anything differently.

Sarah threw a rock at a pack of dogs (the MSM) and the one that yelped (Olberdouche) is the one she hit! I noticed we have some folks on this thread that have their panties in a twist also. Guess what? The jokes on YOU! Nobody with a lick of common sense is bothered by this.

It’s amazing that even with all the exposure to the loony liberal mindset there are STILL folks on Hot Air that get fooled by the Olberdouching of stories.

I want Sarah to shoot a Moose, then gut and skin it with only her teeth! Olberdouche would go batty and spin the story in a way that folks here would be squealing that Sarah should have hired a PR guy to sanitize her image.

Olberdouche and the rest of the MSM are Sarahcuda’s 8itches!

joey24007 on November 20, 2008 at 10:59 PM

I had to watch it again to hear the questions the reporter was asking. One was about which state programs would be “on the chopping block”, rather appropriate. heh

These people are just plain assholes, and should be given what the turkeys got. Just kidding about the second part…sort of.

rlwo2008 on November 20, 2008 at 11:02 PM

I think this is funny, I didnt watch the video but someone said this was on countdown? This should be a wonderful 4 years seeing what Olbermann comes up with for his show. Bush is a lame duck so there is nothing else to talk about, Cheney will be out soon, so its going to be 4 years of finding dirt and embarrassing situations for any Republican that could possibly run in 2012.

Thats MSNBCs job from now on.

broker1 on November 20, 2008 at 11:02 PM

Turkeys do not come naturally in packages at the store libs.

I wonder if the same people complaining about this will go picket the theaters at the next showing of horror movies,SAW series can be gruesome. How about a write in campaign against the Time-Life war stories series commercials that show bodies being bulldozed- or maybe hit up Nick Studios for the cartoon animals promoting violent acts-Tom & Jerry, the Simpsons, SouthPark. Elmer Fudd was always hunting-lets go protest Elmer.

Its just another day and another way the left tries to bring Palin down. I am making an extra donation to prolife charities every time they do this to her. I think the schools should inform every student as part of their sexual education in high school exactly how late term abortions are performed and how early the first movements of a baby are felt in womb.
