Obama during Campaign: "I will change the failed policies of George W. Bush."

Presdient-Elect Obama: "I will not change the <strike>failed</strike> successful policies of George W. Bush."

Change you can believe in. Maybe, until he changes his mind.

Troops coming home from Iraq in <strike>16</strike> <strike>20</strike> <strike>24 months</strike> when Maliki says so, as Obama has always said.

I don’t get that quote. Is Crazy Harry saying qualifications are a voter registration card?
Republicans need not apply?
Why would Gates even want to stay?

Kini on November 20, 2008 at 11:22 AM

Pretty telling slip on Reid's part, no? President-elect Bambi ran on a platform of changing the partisanship in DC and it turns out that he didn't mean it! I am so shocked. ;-0

As to why Gates would want to stay, I'd put power and prestige up there along with wanting to make the transition smooth.

I think he's a fool to stick around as Bambi's convenient scapegoat. Nevertheless, the troops have little trust in Obama and even less loyalty. They'll obey orders but Obama had better not go in like Clinton tried and start using the military as a lab for leftist social experimentation.

I sure am glad to know Dingy Harry is concerned with the most important qualifications for a SecDef.

I was hoping for Kucinich.

Hahahaha. Dennis actually used to be my congressman before I moved.

The people in his district have no clue what a loon he is. They just have this emotional attachment for him going back to when he was mayor.

Barack Obama = Bush III. I can’t wait for the campaign commercials. In 2012 the Republican nominee can run against Obama by running against Bush. Nice little twist there.

I love it when Harry Reid is stumped. Watching him all through the Bailout Crisis, he clearly doesn't know what to do. He is in a permanent state of ignorance and doesn't know what to do about anything. Neither do the rest of the Dems including the President-Elect. Keeping Gates is probably the smartest thing Obama can do for the country. None of the rest of his advisors know anything about competence or accomplishment except for their own grandiose ideas of who they are. Being insane is not a resume inhancement.
