Quote of the day

posted at 10:42 pm on November 20, 2008 by Allahpundit

“[I]f Obama really wanted change, if he really wanted to honor progressives who backed him early on and then did the grunt work against McCain, he’d nominate Dennis Kucinich as Secretary of State.

That sure would indicate a welcome departure from empire as usual.

But at this point, progressives are getting absolutely nothing from Obama.”

What’s a “progressive”?
Joe Pyne on November 20, 2008 at 10:51 PM

Try this:

In the first half of the twentieth century, there was however an alarming development: Even before they were in control, the current Middle group did not pretend to others or to themselves that they were seeking freedom and justice for everyone—or anyone. “In each variant of Socialism that appeared from about 1900 onwards the aim of establishing liberty and equality was more and more openly abandoned. The new movements which appeared in the middle years of the century…had the conscious aim of perpetuating unfreedom and inequality.” The real goal was to freeze history once the Middle had once again overthrown the High and become the new High themselves: This would be the last revolution ever; the new High would stay in power indefinitely by a conscious strategy. The people who aspired to become this new aristocracy are described as “bureaucrats, scientists, technicians, trade-union organisers, publicity experts, sociologists, teachers, journalists and professional politicians“, with their origins in “the salaried middle class and the upper grades of the working class”.

That Obama would kowtow to his minions? The entire Obama cabinet looks more and more like the Clinton cabinet of yesteryear every day. Barack Hussein Obama didn’t have any mainstream friends of his own to speak of from his previous speck of time in the senate, so he’s rehiring slick Willies gang.

Seriously, the Obamatites are a deranged flock of sheep.

The sheep says, “Obama-a-a-a-a Ho-o-o-o-ope Cha-a-a-ange Obama-a-a-a-a”

A lot of Obama’s moves to the center could be headfakes to let the Bush Administration be complacent during the transition, so Bush doesn’t act decisively as a lame duck. It’s not as if Obama has never broken his word.

With 58 Democrat Senators, Obama could probably get anyone to the right of Kucinich confirmed. He might try it once he’s President.

Yep, if the Clintonistas were wanted, they’d have voted them in in the primaries. Seems the Clintonistas are getting the best of both worlds; pick of the litter on cabinet positions etc. Whats happened is Obamski is so inexperienced he doesnt have the connections, so the Clintonistas said ‘oh here we’ll stock you up with people’. So, Hillary can still stay out of the spotlight and still work her magic she does so well, oops I mean black magic, well maybe not ‘black’ magic, bad play on words there. :)

One slier of good wiht him picking Clintonista retreads is he’ll only be in 4 years with that crap. :)

abcurtis on November 21, 2008 at 8:03 AM

will the PUMAs be glad that Hillary is SoS?

kelley in virginia on November 21, 2008 at 7:37 AM

I’ve kept up with some of the PUMA sites and the reaction to her as SoS is mixed. A good number of them feel she’s the best choice Obama could make and are happy for her. They feel that at least Obama would have ONE competent person in his Cabinet.

But there’s also a good number who think that he’s doing it to negate her power. If she stays in the Senate, she remains her own person and Kennedy offered her the lead on healthcare which is important to her. If she takes the SoS position, she has to carry out the whims of the President. She serves at his pleasure and can either be the scapegoat for any foreign policy blunders HE makes or can be fired anytime he feels she’s getting too powerful.

Personally, I think Obama IS trying to put her and Bill on a leash but I feel it will blow up on him.

I must admit to feeling a guilty pleasure that the poor poor progressives aren’t getting much that they were promised. That’s what they get for voting for an empty suit who has NO core positions of his own. ‘Hope’ and ‘Change’ indeed.
