Shocking video proves: Football tailgaters can be boorish

Via Breitbart. If she’d tried this in a Giants jersey at an Eagles game, there might have been an actual felony committed.

I shouldn’t snark. She’s a brave woman to wear Tide gear under the circumstances and the written account seems genuinely harrowing in points. But, er … if you’ve got video of people spitting and dropping the C-bomb, why not use it? A minor concession, perhaps, to limit how radioactive she’ll be around campus once this expose starts to circulate?

Exit question: What would have happened to a guy who tried this? Content warning.

No.

Just plain dumb. Waste of space.

devere252 on November 19, 2008 at 7:42 PM

A guy wearing a Tide shirt would’ve, shall we say, had a few more things thrown at him. That said, it good to see such school spirit. Up here in MPLS, U of M students don’t really care about the Gophers. The last game I went to was again N. Dakota State. And there were more of them in the Metrodome than Gopher fans–and they were more lively too.

While on vacation at Walt Disney World in October, we gracious Tennesseans witnessed throngs of LSU fans acting like morons. I have some of it on video. Obnoxious, drunk and retarded.

That being said, we drove through Alabama to get to Florida. I will not make that mistake again. Deliverance country. The whole state.

In the 1973 Cotton Bowl, for some strange reason, the scalped tickets we got as Texas fans was located right in the middle of the damn Alabama section. Instead of killing us (which was a distinct possibility), they took pity on us and taught us the ‘Bama fight songs. Under penalty of death, we showed them that we knew them..
I can still remember them to this day:
“Choo choo choochoo train ,
Bama’s gonna do its THANG.
Huh, ungawah, ‘Bama’s got Soul Power.”
We kicked their ass, as I recall..

Those Bamans are some serious fans. Even more than those from Lousy-ana.

TexasJew on November 19, 2008 at 7:56 PM

Half the fun of TX-OU weekend back in the day was wandering through downtown Dallas, finding groups of OU fans to heckle. And boy did they give it right back. Fun times.

And with your comment you prove yourself to be an absolute ass. Most of the people in this video are being ridiculous and moronic, but they’re doing in a good-natured sort of way. It’s just SEC football. You, on the other hand, should consider staying in that TN paradise of yours. You just don’t get it.

Ok lets get real for a second. If you want to see real lowlifes go to Philedephia for any Eagle game and you will see men proudly walking around with the love of their lives on their arms. To the naked eye it would seem normal until you find that these woman in most cases are their sisters. Take a trip to a redskin game and you will find that most in attendance wearing redskin gear could not spell apple if you spotted them app and I am not just talking about polititions. Go to a New York Giant fan and you will see a bunch of fat bloated cocaine addicted Artie Lange types. But if you really need to see the scum of the earth go to oakland and feast your eyes on Raider fans who think flipping of cameras and fighting in the parkinglot is a rite of passage but enough about the woman of the silver and black. Walking the lots at Oakland is kinda like walking thru a third world country except most of the poor in other countries just beg not urinate with their hands out like Raider fans. Seeing the skeleton in the video though was a bit much. I just want to know how those Alabama fans got Al Davis to sit in a lawn chair for hours without his depends.

As an Ole Miss alum, I really can’t stand Bama fans or LSU fans. However, whilst BAMA fans are quite obnoxious with their delusions of grandeur and nostalgia, a great many LSU fans are really, truly, bona fide classless jerks.

At a UM-LSU game once in Baton Rogue, my girlfriend had a large spoonful of potato salad hit her and go all over her dress.

TexasJew on November 19, 2008 at 8:16 PM

Yeah, so this is news?

I’m just surprised more things like this don’t get captured and spread about on YouTube (probably is, but never got the urge to look for any).

I’ve witnessed such boorish behavior at Florida State vs. University of Florida games and Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss games (a.k.a. — “The Egg Bowl”) and much, much worse. There’s plenty of stupidity usually accentuated and amplified via alcohol at just about every college football game across the country. Especially at big rivalry games. The only thing that will effectively stop it will be peer pressure.

The only person I ever spat on or near was my old boss, who was fired for sexually harassing two female co-workers (whom I adore and still keep in touch with years after leaving.) He thought we were friends; I quickly disavowed him of that as I walked out the door on my last day. What a pervert!

robblefarian on November 19, 2008 at 7:43 PM

I don’t know where you actually went, but I was raised in Alabama and my parents and three sisters live there still. It has its problems, just as all states do, but it was a great place to grow up. Birmingham has some of the finest restaurants anywhere. Medical research at UAB is well respected. One sister has always referred to Huntsville as the ‘cultural void of the universe’, but it is a hotbed of technology, hence the lack of culture, though it is improving. There is a lot of great stuff about Alabama, aside from football. I live in Tennessee now, having moved from Virginia to be closer to my non-deliverance like family. We’ve got our deliverance aspect here too, you know? I don’t think I’ve been through a state yet that doesn’t and I’ve been through a fair few having driven coast to coast three times, each by a different route. The only difference is the accent.

I spent a year at the UofA in grad school in the late 80’s and my friends and I went to every game. It was a blast. LSU had the loudest fans, though I think it was partly the shape of the stadium, steep and really echoed. I was most afraid of the Tennessee fans though. GA was pretty rough too… What can you say, SEC football is crazy. One of my best friends from high school kept the Holy Bible on his right bedside table and biography of Bear Bryant on the left. Sometimes I wasn’t sure which he’d save in case of fire. Not really, but it was close.

Roll, Tide, Roll!!

Hear, hear. Though sometimes I really have to force myself to root for Florida…It always cracks me up to hear fans from other conferences try to compare themselves to the SEC though. You guys have a couple of good teams. All but two or three SEC teams are good enough to beat anybody, and beat them soundly, in the country any day of the week (unfortunately I would have to include my team among the two or three at the moment).

FLcapitalistthug on November 19, 2008 at 10:01 PM

As an LSU student I would like to say that the vast majority of our fans are not douchebags. But like always a few rotten apples spoil the bunch . . . .With that said LSU tailgating is like no other i’ve seen, starting on the Thursday before the game up until hours after the game. If you’ve never experienced it you should come down, and usually if you are wearing the opposing teams colors you will be called over for a beer and some good cajun/creole cooking … along with a little good natured smack talk of course.

Mofugger on November 19, 2008 at 10:04 PM

I’d also like to add what do you expect to get from the home team fans when you are wearing the opposing teams shirt? To not have any smack talked or in this case to be tigerbaited? Come on, yes the obscene gestures and having crap thrown at her were out of line but most of the language was not directed at the girl but towards Saban (who is public enemy #1 in baton rouge).

Plus having been to auburn, oxford, tuscaloosa, and gainesville for LSU games being accosted doesn’t only happen at LSU.

warrenmr on November 19, 2008 at 10:13 PM

Not really sure what the point is. Everybody knows that LSU is an armpit and the fans are boorish.

True story – a friend of mine (from Texas A&M) was walking into the stadium there once and noticed drops of “water” falling on him and his friends. He looked up and saw nice little Louisiana boys squirting on them from the railing above with their parents nearby egging them on.

Stay classy, Baton Rouge.

jr.ewing.78 on November 19, 2008 at 10:13 PM

you know how many variants of the “water” story i have heard ewing? I’ve heard the exact same story, exact same, from auburn, alabama, ole miss, georgia, and now texas a&m fans.

Another one of my favorites is about the little old grandma who threw a bottle of “water” on opposing fans. Some team inevitably brings it up every year. And while I have no problem believing either have happened once there is just no way the exact same thing has happened to so many people unless it was a one time thing that has been spread around so much that people regard it as truth.

MFn G I M P on November 19, 2008 at 10:20 PM

The SEC is like a big southern family, we can talk smack among us but when an outsider does it the family unites and kicks ass. The Gators vs Tide game is going to be a good one and hard fought in the trenches, when its over we will unite behind the winner to beat TT.

As an Eagles season ticket holder since 1971, I can 2nd the motion that Eagles’ fans, or a significant minority, are absolute pigs. I’ve seen countless opposing fans cursed in front of their children, assaulted and in general made to feel unwelcome.
The worst was the cheering when Michael Irvin seriously injured his neck and was being carted off.

Personally, I’ve had to warn clients that I was entertaining to leave their Redskins or Dallas hats at home.
On the other side, I’ve worn Eagles jerseys and hats to six games at the Meadowlands, and never heard a nasty word. Good game and we’ll get you next time kind of stuff.

Arghhh…can’t we just pretend that man doesn’t exist in this thread?

*LALALALALALA*

So, football…Yes it is crazy here in the SEC. Did you read about the two people who were shot last week in an argument over the Bama-LSU game?

pannw on November 19, 2008 at 11:47 PM

Dude. She thinks that’s bad? Try wearing a Michigan shirt to an OSU home game. I thought that was a pretty well behaved group.

Weight of Glory on November 19, 2008 at 7:48 PM

Exactly. She went to LSU with the camera because if she had gone to Auburn, it would have been unprintable. Same for a Texas – Oklahoma game.

Illinois – Northwestern, not so much. Worst cheer there comes from NW fans: “OK, but some day you’ll be working for us!”

In other SEC news, Vandy will wallop Tennessee in Nashville this Saturday.

Go Dores.

I see no need to rub our nose in our worse season in history.

Come on Orange, show some pride. For Gods sakes it’s Vandy!

Having grown up in the old SWC and now in the SEC I would say that the SEC is the best league in the nation, year in and year out, in ALL sports. For those burnt orange folks out there commenting on this thread — I like 2 teams, ARKANSAS and whoever plays texas…

btw, LSU fans are arrogant, the rest of the league are just having fun…mostly

You don’t know football until you’ve seen SEC football.

And to any and all Auburn fans: You think ‘Bama don’t remember The Thumb? Y’all are so pathetically weak this year, and the Tide is so fired up, that it’s liable to be the worst whuppin’ since Tech beat Cumberland 222-0. And y’all ain’t getting NO recruits next year. Zero. None.

Ali-Bubba on November 20, 2008 at 5:46 AM

Goat: PLEASE don’t bait the Florida people. They’ve got a truly awesome team, and we don’t want ‘em to be fired up by us baiting them.

But Auburn? Bait away. The thing about the Iron Bowl is, it’s impossible to be more fired up. All incentives are irrelevant. If you’re at Bama and don’t want to beat Auburn, or vice-versa, there’s something wrong with you.

Ali-Bubba on November 20, 2008 at 5:51 AM

That being said, we drove through Alabama to get to Florida. I will not make that mistake again. Deliverance country. The whole state.

robblefarian on November 19, 2008 at 7:43 PM

Really? Tennessee is the only state I’ve seen that actually has hitching posts at WalMart. And judging by the horse crap, it’s not just for show.

Say hello to Algore for me.

Man I love Saturdays in the SEC. I wrote off going to Baton Rouge about 5 years ago, the fans there for one particular game were, ummmmmm, a little too keyed up. I got involved in a brew-ha-ha and haven’t been back since. The fact that LSU kicks my teams ass on a regular basis kinda seals the deal. (anyone wanna guess who my team is? hint – we suck, again)

Cute girl. Terrible hair-do.

…and what’s with the beefy dude at 1:52 with his Paris Hilton pooch?

Mr Purple on November 20, 2008 at 8:41 AM

True and true LSU fan here.

That was uncalled for.

Somebody got shot after the game. Ya’ll heard about this? Some Bama fan started talking smack to an LSU fan, and the Bama fan’s wife shot both of them.

Good for her.

I believe this was in Brewton, AL. Can’t recall the details but ultimately they were shot. I think he died and she survived…
