Huckabee is NOT a conservative

Agreed. Well, he might be a social conservative in some respects, but he’s certainly no fiscal conservative.

I mentioned this before but it obviously bears repeating: Huckabee did NOTHING during his tenure as governor in Arkansas, other than running for president and facilitating the release of a criminal or two, one of whom promptly went up to Missouri and raped and killed two people. He meddled in health care, he meddled in education. He came up with the absurd idea of requiring kids’ body fat levels to be measured in schools once per term. He likes to tout that he pushed through all sorts of tax cuts while he was governor, but whatever cuts and rebates we received, they were well outstripped by all the increases, and all the nickel and diming on “moral” taxes like those on cigarettes and alcohol. This is even more vexing considering the state has been operating at a huge surplus for years. Why not give that money back to the TAXPAYERS? Huckabee talks a good game, and his idea for building a bonfire out of the entire Internal Revenue Code is certainly an appealing one. But if we pick him for the nomination in 2012 and he’s elected, you can practically guarantee he’ll have his hand out for his entire term.

Most of the people that I know, think that the complexity of nature is no accident.

This isn’t an evolution thread, but I would like to make a quick comment. Many scientists believe in God. About half of the research scientists I worked with in the U.S. were church-going Christians and devout Jews. Evolution does not eliminate a need for God as Creator.

We’re left with Duncan D. Hunter, Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindel, Tim Pawlenty, Jeff Sessions, Eric Cantor and a handful of others that are valid candidates and good conservatives,

Don’t forget Sen. Jim Demint and Gov. Mark Sanford

I’ll give him one thing though, he took down the Clintons. That is something Republicans have been trying to do for 17 years.

I think she should to boot camp with Newt for atleast a year.

I keep imagining the scene in “Superman” where S-man goes to his Fortress of Solitude and plays all those crystals to learn everything.

But what she REALLY needs to do is run for Lisa Murkowski’s senate seat, and spend 6 years as a Senator, to make the connections and steep herself in policy knowledge. She should leave DC whenever the Senate is not in session, lest she become too imprinted by its culture; but I’m not sure she can rise above the media narrative of ‘Alaska weirdo’ without spending some serious time in the lower 48, and letting non-Alaskans see a LOT of her.

Since Palin’s announcement as McCain’s VP choice, the mantra has been “She’s Not Qualified.”

My question has always been why is she any less qualified than any other past Governor put on the ticket? Honestly, why? If say Bill Richardson had been selected as O’s VP, would anyone say he wasn’t qualified? Why wasn’t it said of Bush 43 or Clinton? The only difference between Governor Palin and every other Governor was her gender. I hate to think this was this disqualification from Office.

If I had been Palin, this would have been my response to any and all who questioned my ability. She had an 80% approval rating from all Alaskans. She must have been doing something right.

Romney is a fraud, McCain is a fraud, Rudy G. is a fraud, Arnie Schwartzenhitler is a fraud and a disgrace, Ron Paul is a 911 conspiracy loving idiot fruitcake, L. Gramnesty and Chuckie Hagell are pathetic. Fred Thompson is, well he’s a conservative but he’s lost his mojo.

Don’t get me wrong… I aggree with your list here. However, depending on what happens in the next 2-3yrs we may not want to run any of those guys. Instead offer up the Lamb and get him out of the way. If Obama still has his grasp on the “idiot” vote by 2011…. We’ll likely lose, even with a good young conservative. Instead hold back on the good ones. Send in a bullet sponge and let him take the fall, while our true candidates stock up ammo… Then in 2016 we open fire, when we can see the whites of the liberal’s eyes.

In the meantime we can focus our efforts on flanking the Libs by slowly gaining ground in Congress. If executed properly, when 2012 rolls around we can grind the Obama admin. to a halt (as they did us), thus killing the dem image (and giving us more to demogogue – as they did us). This will hold us out for the term and by 2016 we can surround the enemy and force their surrender.

This isn’t a time to form a line and go head to head with the enemy. Nor is it a time for entrenchment. No, now is the time for Guerilla warfare.

The dude at least wouldn’t play patty cake with Obama in the debates, the way McCain did.

And I sure as heck don’t see him holding back on any line of attack.

This party can ill afford to waste on its young guns on ’12.

Might as well make Huckabee the lamb.

Exactly! You’re right that he doesn’t fit their favorite memes.

I assume they would start out with an attack on his religious views, but I’m really not sure how much mileage one exorcism years ago and his questionable decision not to veto the ‘intelligent design’ bill would have. The former is pretty ancient history and the latter could probably be explained by saying he didn’t want to go against the will of the people of Louisiana (although, personally, I was very disappointed with his decision).

I don’t know enough about him to know if there’s more fodder for the “Jindal is a religious nut” meme.

Other than that, I guess perhaps they could carefully roll out some racial stuff. Joe Biden probably has some terrific quotes they could use.

Mostly, I’m just so friggin’ bored by these amateurish attacks on Palin over her supposed lack of intelligence. Boring boring boring.

Let’s all push Jindal ‘12 for a while. If nothing else, it will force the trolls to come up with a new meme. The Palin is dumb thing is so boring. I’d like to see them work on some new material.

I’d like to see them actually come up with something for Jindal… Dem trolls have three set memes for Republicans: dumb hicks (their favorite), out-of-touch rich guys (Mittens and George Bush Senior), and pure evil (Cheney and Nixon). Jindal doesn’t strike me as filling any of those: he probably is a genius, he strikes me as a genius, and his problem is he is too much of a micromanager, not an out of touch, evil rich guy.

That being said Jindal would be well advised to tap into some of the Sarah Palin magic. He’s a decent communicator, but her raw political talent far exceeds his.
