Heart-ache: Joe the Plumber endorses Jindal?

Not exactly, although the door is open. The money quote from his Tufts interview, according to Jonathan Martin:
Q: The Republican Party was dealt another devastating blow [on Nov. 4]. In your opinion, what do you feel the party needs to do in order to successfully regain control of the government? Also, what should disappointed conservatives like yourself do following the election?
A: The party should remember that they are conservative Republicans — that has been forgotten. They no longer hold to their ideals. They blow with the wind on just about every public opinion poll. So they are not right-wing; they are trying to show that they’re middle or even left-of-middle sometimes. You have to remember two years ago, the Democrats loved John McCain. That is not what this is about. If you’re a party, you have to stick to your ideals. The frontrunners in the Republican Party have definitely seem to forgotten that. Governor [Bobby] Jindal of Louisiana seems to have the right idea. We have got to get back to the grassroots of the Republican Party and not apologize for being conservative …
And the money quote according to yours truly:
Q: As a Republican, do you feel that Gov. Sarah Palin was the right vice-presidential selection?
A: Honestly, I think she shines too much. I think vice president no, president definitely. She has moral values. She has a record of change that … John McCain had supposedly … Sarah was actually too big of a personality, too big of a person to be vice president.
No congressional run or country music career according to this, either. Exit provocative assertion: Dude, there can be only one solution in 2012. Huckabee.

HornetSting on November 18, 2008 at 7:22 PM
Allah, nice try.
Doesn’t JTP actually endorse Palin for president here? He says Palin should be “president definitely. She has moral values. She has a record of change that … John McCain had supposedly … Sarah was actually too big of a personality, too big of a person to be vice president”.
All he says about Jindal is that he agrees with his idea to get back to the grassroots.
Norwegian on November 18, 2008 at 7:22 PM
Please, God, no; don’t do this to us. We still have four years to decide this, but we need to get out of this mess soon. I don’t care who runs in 2012 as long as they’re competent, a raging capitalist, and have respect for national security and the Constitution. And, of course, able to beat the One.
Achilles on November 18, 2008 at 7:24 PM
What if we bred Palin Jindal hybrid and let Fred and Jeri Thompson raise it and then sent it to learn the dark arts of politics from the Huckster. We call it THE RIGHT ONE and run him/her in 2044.

Dude, no. I watched some of his show the other day–he just doesn’t have the sort of rugged conservatism that will be needed to overcome Obama in ‘12.
Honestly, does anyone believe Huck can energize anything?

Let’s all push Jindal ‘12 for a while. If nothing else, it will force the trolls to come up with a new meme. The Palin is dumb thing is so boring. I’d like to see them work on some new material.

I don’t think anyone will be able to predict how polished Palin will, or will not be in four years. She has character, integrity, smarts and the one thing most politicians can only fake … a true understanding of what America, and who the average American is.
Add the fact that she’s not tainted with the D.C. crud and in four years you may see someone who even the doubters may not be able to resist.

No, you are wrong, she is among the last in the party whom ARE presidential material, if not THE LAST. I don’t care if the repulican party wins anything ever again, what I do care about is that real conservatives, which she is, run for office, and not socialist republican turds, which she is not.

For my part, I’m not gonna say this one or that one is THE one at this point. But this is a good time to take measure of our ideals, maybe come up with a short list. Jindal and Palin are definitely on it. Steele and Pawlenty, most likely. Thompson, hey I’m sorry, he’s gotta stop playing hard to get and actually want the damn job. Then we’ll talk. Huckabee… Huckabee…

Achilles on November 18, 2008 at 7:45 PM
That’s not provocative, it’s downright moronic.
I don’t think that Palin is the right choice (or going to be in contention by 2012) but JTP is right. Time for Republicans to stop apologizing for having the right (no pun intended) views on the issues. The GOP needs to stop pussyfooting around and showing deference to political traitors like McCain. The RINOS and CHINOs need to figure out where their loyalties lie.
Jindal or Palin may not ultimately be successful in 2012 but I’d rather lose fighting that battle than having another cranky liberal “Republican” on us. As long as the nation is so polarized, the McCain wing of the GOP is as good as dead (and many are actually knocking on death’s door). Time to be the party where real conservatives can come to be conservatives without accomodating political traitors like McCain.
I can only hope that the next four years of utterly unadulterated liberalism and socialism will make the bitter clingers to RINO Quislings see just how irrelevant they are in the political process. The Democrats ignore them and the real Republicans have nothing but utter contempt for them.

Surely you jest.
I see in the comments that for some, Sarah is not a consideration for President. Name another person capable of restoring the Party. Who else fires up the voters like she does? She’s way better qualified to be President than the one we just elected.
If not Sarah then who? And don’t say Jindal. I think he would make a fine candidate but I don’t see him really exiting the base much.

Huckabee is a disaster looking for a solution. There probably is a time and place for his brand of genial socialism but Bill Clinton already occupied that time and place. Huckabee only appeals to Mormon haters and 1990’s throwbacks.

I’m a huge Palin fan. And I’m a big Jindal (and those who show similar promise) fan also.
Right now, what looks good to me is Palin-Jindal or Jindal-Palin in 2012, with a big Congressional victory in 2010.

Bingo! When Allah can’t cobble together a legitimate issue of faith, he just throws something like this issue out in the hopes that Christians will trash one another in the manner that let his man Obama gain the White House by disqualifying all those who have a legitimate record of living up to their professed faith.
In person, Allah must be a decent human being. I make that assumption based on the fact that he remains despite his clear hatred of Christians and Christianity. Should the Dems get the “Fairness Doctrine” through, my first act will be to demand HA be tolerant of all faiths (not just Ed’s Catholicism and Allah’s attacks on anything Christian).

JtP is smarter than 94.61% of political pundits, and than a relatively large number of voluble and repetitive HotAir commenters.
Please stop fantasizing about Palin at the bottom of someone else’s ticket. She’s not going to use up her celebrity doing that again, and Jtp is 100% correct: She already outshines, purely on the level of charisma or as JtP puts it size of her personality, anyone else in the party. Period.
It’s P or nothing for her. This isn’t a judgment of her policies or her electability. Call it an aesthetic judgment from someone who spent 20 years in the entertainment industry: She’s never going to run for VP again barring nuclear war or some other incredible series of events. To suggest anything else is naive and maybe even sexist. If you like Jindal so much that you want to bracket him with a VP running mate, please try to come up with a sensible suggestion.
You can stuff your Couric interview or the rest of your borrowed-from-Kos attacks. You can fantasize or theorize or pretend or weigh or insult or slime or whatever – it’s not going to change the fact that Palin has the strongest base in the party if she wants it. She’ll duke it out with someone for the top spot if she decides 2012 is looking promising and 2016 too far off, but she can afford to keep her options open longer than anyone else. The only thing that might force her hand would be Huck or someone else with a base of support among So Cons building up too much momentum, but no one knows whether the nomination is going to look like a prize or a curse in 2012.

If Palin studies hard and can become a major policy wonk, plus historian, & geographer in the next 4 years, that knowledge plus her pure charisma would be tough to beat.
She is smart, just not knowledgable. She looks too much like she’s “faking it, to make it”. We’ve had that for 8 years.

For the time being, maybe we should focus on Congress in the next two years of the Obamao “rule”. Someone has to inform the public and talk over/through the media’s protective wall of THE ONE.
Which conservative Republicans are knowledgeable about the economy and business/trade? Can they articulate the principles and get to the cameras and Sunday talk shows?
Which conservative Republicans are knowledgeable about national security and all of the elements that contribute to it? Apply the articulation-media smarts criteria to them.
Which conservative Republicans will servs as attack dogs and call out and demand investigations of Democrats’ criminality or lack of ethics? It helps if such candidates, whether lawyers or not, are savvy about the law and the Constitution. Apply the articulation-media smarts criteria to them.
To those conservative Republicans from outside Congress and DC politics, speak out often about issues in the news. Provide the soundbite that cannot be ignored by the media. Get in front of the cameras. Become familiar to voters well before a presidential election so that the media do not create the narrative.
Conservative Republicans have a number of rising stars such as Palin, Jindal, Steele, etc. We need to support and encourage them.

Geochelone on November 18, 2008 at 9:22 PM
Since we are respectfully disagreeing, here.
You aren’t seeing the overriding agenda. During the primaries, AP literally launched thread after thread that pitted Huckabee supporters against Romney supporters. At one point I counted over twenty threads that had this bias. It was all part of the same process that left evangelical and social conservatives forces to support Obama or McCain.
I don’t have any influence concerning AP’s lack of faith. He’s made his choice to burn in hell and, while I’m not happy with his choice, I am not in a position to change his heart to follow Christ. There are some things that simply don’t happen on the internet and he clearly isn’t among Christians spark the desire to seek salvation.
What I am in a position to do is point out anti-Christian propagandists and AP is definitely one of those. He deliberately sets up topics that result in Christians attacking one another. He does so for his own amusement and the the further assault on Christian faith as a signature tenet of American society.
The reason he doesn’t quash Christian viewpoints because it furthers his very un-Christlike agenda. He uses Christians to undermine Christianity. How on earth could AP get rid of Romney if he got rid of evangelical Christians. The proof is in the way AP attacked the candidates of faith and left CHINO McCain standing.

Hi highhopes,
I may or may not be seeing the over-riding agenda, as you have defined it above.
Personally, I do not think Allahpundit is an atheist. I do not want to put words in his mouth, but I think he is too smart for that. I think he is aware of the “universal negation” fallacy that accompanies his atheism.
I do believe, however, that AP is an agnostic or skeptic.
And the sick, corrupt, distasteful stuff that occurs in so-called “American Christendom” makes me reel at times, whether it is the pop psychology stuff coming from the pulpits or the “pushing the money” talk…..
Maybe AP the skeptic sees that and hates it. Maybe not.
I don’t know.
But I am thankful he is allowed my comments and arguments contra atheism and skepticism to be posted.
I don’t see AP as a threat to Christianity in America or in the West.
I see the greatest threat to Christianity when “faithlessness” becomes the norm and “faithfulness to the Scriptures” is deemed “not relevant” for our culture.
Take care, my friend.

When are you going to understand. When are you going to realize. We need a movement of sincere people. You wanna get the conservative movement in America energized! You wanna build a movement on the ground! You wanna take this country back!! You team up Huckabee/Palin next time around. You get them out there as a team giving speeches across the nation, and they’ll help build a really right-wing, righteous, idealistic, mass movement, that will STAND UP for righteousness and justice! You get people like that together that will pursue righteousness and justice to the end, and they will energize grass roots conservatives and Christians all over America! You do that and we can still turn the tide no matter who is President, but we’ve gotta build that movement and we’ve gotta do it with the right people! That’s how you do it! That’s how it’s done!! Sorry Allah, I have to agree with Norwegian on this one. This looks like more of an endorsement for Palin than for Jindal. Although JTP likes Jindal. So do I.
That was quite a leap you took there Allah.
So how does one go from twisting JTP words from he likes Jindal… to Palin is presidential material… to Huckabee definitely for President 2012????
We all enjoy taking a leap of faith every once in a while, but this leap is a little long even for the most dedicated supporters.
Last year, in my own personal rankings for President, John McCain was 5th on my list- which was bad enough. Huckabee was seventh.
kcarpenter on November 18, 2008 at 10:29 PM
All politicans have their problems, but yes, Huckabee who is a true conservative on the 2nd Amendment (the first Governor in the country to have a concealed handgun license). Who wants to stay on offense on the war on terror. Who who wants to protect traditional marriage. Who introduced a plan to secure the border without amnesty (satisfying the critics who opposed him on this issue). Who wants to abolish the IRS and institute the Fair Tax, failing that, wants to cut taxes and cut spending. Who who took the no new tax pledge. YES, Huckabee who is a life-long committed pro-life conservative. He is my favourite candidate. But, if somebody else comes along who stands for the same policies I’ll support them too.
Actually, I agree 100% with you on that. Most Republicans don’t support Huckabee. You’re right. But, that’s because most Republicans are not Conservative.
I like Palin too. I think of her as the female version of Huckabee only because they stand up for the same things – truth and justice. Governor Huckabee is our best speaker though, but I do think Palin is very good too. All these two have to do is be bolder with the media. Speak truth to power. The people watching aren’t stupid. They’ll support those type of politicians. On your last point, I’m sure there are other candidates you and I could BOTH agree on. I’m sure of that too. I can’t wait to be on the same team!!! Except, I won’t forsake my principles to do so. That wasn’t a dig, I’m just sayin’… that’s how I roll.

Did you not vote for McCain or Palin? Both of them had a “crush” on JTP. McCain started in the debate and never let up. JTP is a McCain/Palin creation.

I have got to be honest, Jindal plans to use my tax dollars paid into Medicare to rebuild a broken system. It sounds like a hugely run health care system managed by the government. Using my tax dollars to divvy up payments to private health care providers who are providing a service to low income patients, is not really my idea of a small government health care plan.
I don’t disagree with Jindal’s plan, but I sure would like to hear a lot more about it before signing off on it.
I really admire both Palin and Jindal for the tenacity to attack real problems and try to come up with solutions to real problems in our society.
Health Care and Energy are real problems that Republicans must address and provide some ideas on how to move this country forward.
If we, as Republicans, do not provide some real world solutions to real problems, the Democrats will have government running both of these major issues in the next few years.
Solutions, folks!
By the way, looking for real solutions for our financial systems, check our Congressman Paul Ryan.
I would encourage them all to step forward and lead.

I don’t think Palin has been rushed to the mound like Clyde. Clyde went from a small HS to the show. Palin spent a little time in the minors (Wasilla) and moved up to triple A (Gov.) before trying out as a starter in the majors. Clyde, unlike Palin, got a little lost along the way – in order to fit in, he drank with the older players. Palin may have tried to fit in – briefly – when the McCain handlers tried to wrangle her. Unlike Clyde, she rejected this wrong-headed path, and acted in her own best interest. In the last part of Clyde’s short career he injured his arm because he didn’t care for it. I think Palin has far more life experience & better grounding and she will care for her career.
I don’t think she was called up to soon, but JTP has a point when he says “she shines too brightly”. It seems that the common people want a common president, wrought with flaws and inadequacies. Palin is a decent person in a world of reality shows. She is grounded – a sharp contrast to the wandering masses who voted for Obama. They wander: morally, ethically, and spiritually. When faced with decisions like Trig or her daughter’s pregnancy she lives her words. She shines too brightly because they can’t tear her down. Maybe 4 more years of the public seeing her and understanding that it’s real and not a show will bring them around to embrace her and wish for better than they are.
Anyway – back to the baseball analogy -we need a good team, not just a pitcher to win this game.

The Left mistakenly thought the Big O would expose all the racists in the GOP. In fact, it will be Jindal that exposes them and push them into obscurity – just like he did in Louisiana.

How ’bout… Gary Sinise in 2012? He does have that ‘Friends of Abe’ thing going on in Hollywood, and if memory serves, the last former actor (and I’m not talking about Clinton here,) we ran with turned out pretty well…

Only if Obama has a great first term. Then Huckabee can be sacrificed on the altar to Obama.

Heh, it looks like neither of you voted for McCain.
