Given the personnel, probably more like Clinton’s third, without having quite the Clinton political wiles and without what I admit is Clinton’s basic, impressive intelligence. And hopefully without the interns.

Is Obama really prepared to deliberately lose a war almost entirely won? We’ll see. Fortunately, he has the nuance of thought allowing him to repudiate almost every prior position. . THE BOTTOM LINE: a. The United States is now clearly……

On the Biden vein…way way back, a long time ago, Nixon choose Agnew as his VP. Agnew was an attack dog with baggage who often needed a leash, quite often actually, but he was effective in a strange sort of way. But, to this day, I believe Nixon choose Agnew as insurance. If Nixon were to be removed for any reason, Agnew would become President. Not a lot of people around at the time who relished the idea of Agnew as President, myself included. I have to believe that Obama choose Biden as insurance. Heaven forbid anything happens to Obama. Having Biden as President, with his “wealth” of foreign policy expertise and economic experience, well, it’d be something that many liberals and Conservatives would equally shudder at the prospect. Thus, Obama is safe.

By the way, has anyone seen Biden lately?

I have 30 years in the Engineering side of the Defense Industry, so don’t zero in on the obvious – Defense Technology Handoff. US Government has advocated helping the Russians since the implosion of the Soviet Union.

What are the other downsides? If Russia chooses to attack a NATO member, we would still come to their aid, but would probably need to talk to both parties, just like we do now. It probably wouldn’t be any different from the Georgia invasion this year.

Thanks for the mental image. I see the disparity between the two, as well, but have tried hard to keep from thinking about it too much. Now, with Obama’s inauguration only a few months away, it’s about all I can think about when I think about this stuff. Putin was protege to Yuri Andropov, one of the coldest and deadliest of the Soviet old guard. Putin viewed Andropov as a father-figure, I think, and I only bring it up because it offers a key into how Putin sees the world. For one thing, it’s a mistake to think Putin sees himself as a villain, btw. Bad guys never think of themselves as bad guys. For another, Putin is a patriot, by his own lights. You really think he cares about amassing wealth? The money is incidental. He IS Russia, as much as Peter or Catherine or Lenin or Stalin. And yes, after he’s taken Obama’s measure, Putin will make a play for the Ukraine. Georgia was a way to gauge reaction. With oil prices tumbling, the Russian oligarchy will need to do something soon to draw the attention of its people away from its fragile pie-crust economy. Obama’s advisors will tell him to play it tough with Putin, but that’s just it: Obama can’t play tough. He must be tough. Putin’s the real deal, as hard as any of them. I worry.

Hmmm, at the rate promises are being Obroken, it might require a couple pages to list.

Who knows, this could be a lottery money raiser — let folks put bets down on the Obroken promise dates.

I don’t believe that we should attack Obama when he’s doing the right thing. It makes more sense to attack him when he’s doing the wrong thing. We should just count our blessings that Obama is smarter than the idiots who voted for him.

We all know that Monroe was a slave owner who favored sending slaves back to Africa or to the Caribbean…thus, anything that old dead white guy Monroe advocated, such as the Monroe Doctrine, has no place in our current enlightened world. /s

After painting Obama into a corner, Russia is backing off its boneheaded sabre-rattling somewhat:

Medvedev, who recently threatened to deploy short-range missiles near Poland if the United States moved ahead with the missile defenses, also took a more conciliatory tone Saturday, Reuters reported.

“We will not do anything until America does the first step,” the Russian president said.

If Putin’s puppet had just kept his yap shut, he could have privately muscled Obama into scrapping the Polish missile base. But combine a very public throwing down of the gauntlet with the Kaliningrad missile announcement just hours after Obama’s election victory and Biden’s “six month guarantee” and there is no way Obama could be seen as backing down.

Way to go, comrade!

WELL written and probably true. I’m curious, what was the most difficult thing Obama has ever faced (other than the election) and why do so many people think he is ready to face the challenges ahead?
I just don’t get it…

By the luck of the draw, he will occassionally end up on the grown-up’s side. This would be a good time to practice his vaunted skill (his only apparent skill) at back-peddling.

Obama is going to look into Putin’s eyes, view Putin’s soul, and while Obama is doing so, Putin merely has to whisper, “Look, you little elitist liberal twit, my country eating up whole countries when you were a fatherless infant. The name changed in 1991, but the goal is still the same. You have moral qualms, I have none. You have to satisfy an electorate, I own my electorate. You have to explain to your people your decisions. Me? I have to explain nothing.
