Video: Terrorist says good morning to America

posted at 11:45 am on November 14, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | regular view

“We never committed terror,” he assures us, noting that (a) the Weathermen didn’t kill anyone, which is true if you exclude the occasional cop or two (a point Chris Cuomo doesn’t raise) and (b) even though what they did “was definitely over lots of lines,” it doesn’t really qualify as terror because the war simply had to be stopped and they were acting to that end. As he says in “Fugitive Days”:

Terrorists terrorize, they kill innocent civilians, while we organized and agitated. Terrorists destroy randomly, while our actions bore, we hoped, the precise stamp of a cut diamond. Terrorists intimidate, while we aimed only to educate.

Their intentions were good, you see. Which, in fairness to Ayers, is indeed the crux of why so many leftists are angrier at Palin for bringing him up on the trail than at Obama for gladhanding him in the first place. The Underground meant well, quite unlike those nasty jihadis and abortion-clinic bombers, whom Cuomo, to his credit, does bring up. The quote, incidentally, comes from Timothy Noah’s 2001 review of the book, which is worth reading for many reasons but foremost for his reclamation of a few Ayers blasts from the past that somehow didn’t end up in the final manuscript. Like this one, circa 1970: “Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that’s where it’s really at.” Thirty-one years later, he famously told the Times, “I don’t regret setting bombs.” The man is, if nothing else, consistent. Bear those two lines in mind as you watch him wheeze about how “dishonest” it is for people to try to demonize him and his old comrades.

It’s in two parts; click the image to watch the first clip, then select the second from the bottom of the ABC interface when you’re done. The question about being a “friend” of our next president comes up front. Contain your surprise as he tries to downplay that too, insisting that he was merely describing how bloggers — and of course Mayor Daley — have characterized the relationship.

Hey Ayers, Blow Me!!

ABC reported on the radio, just now, that Ayers claimed he only knew Obama like we all knew Obama and only knew of him through political meetings from his campaign. (Completely misreporting their own interviews where he claimed to be a family friend).

jacrews on November 14, 2008 at 11:50 AM

These leftists punks are of the same kind of rabble that said Hitler “meant well” when he “stood for change” but that Bush was actually pure evil and malevolence.

Please Ayers, the only reason you didn’t kill people was because, thankfully, your buddies got a Darwin award for getting killed by their own nail bomb.

Cede them no ground. They are equivocating monsters and should be reminded of it on a daily basis.

J.J. Sefton on November 14, 2008 at 11:50 AM

This guy is clueless. Since he went on his self-righteous expression of his hatred of America and caused untold damage in the lives of those whom he touched, he has further driven a wedge between him and reconciliation of his past transgressions by being unrepentent. I say he brought on ALL that he has received from those who have disapproved of his actions. It looks like he made his own bed of roses and now must lie in it. All he would have had to do to reconcile with his detractors was to say something like, “I was young, stupid and energized by the anti-war movement and I regret the things I did,” PERIOD.
Enjoy the bed of roses, Bill, you earned it.

What I wrote on the other Ayers thread, that I found very oddly coincidental from the snippet played on Fox:

It’s interesting how Ayers used the phrase “sought me out for my beliefs” (a snippet played on Fox). This just happens to be the same phrase that BHO used in “Dreams …” talking about how he “SOUGHT OUT MARXIST” professors …

Hmmmmm.

Himmler only meant well too. So did Hitler. They were just trying to bring Germany back to their former glory. Arafat meant well too. Oh, he killed people but they don’t count, being Joos and all.

Yeah, sorry, Ayers, you’re a terrorist. No matter how much people gladhand you, you’re still a terrorist.

Isn’t or wasn’t his own father wealthy? I am thrilled that this man’s book sales are going to spike and he will be moved that much closer to the world considering him “mainstream”. I haven’t gotten over that he is considered a valuable asset at the university where he teaches. The best I can hope for is that the re-issue of his book enjoys the same success as Speaker Pelosi’s.

William Ayers:

Terrorists terrorize, they kill innocent civilians, while we organized and agitated. Terrorists destroy randomly, while our actions bore, we hoped, the precise stamp of a cut diamond. Terrorists intimidate, while we aimed only to educate.

Osama Bin Laden after the 9/11/01 atrocities

OSAMA BIN LADEN (Translated): Here is America struck by God Almighty in one of its vital organs, so that its greatest buildings are destroyed. Grace and gratitude to God. America has been filled with horror from north to south and east to west, and thanks be to God that what America is tasting now is only a copy of we have tasted.

Our Islamic nation has been tasting the same for more 80 years, of humiliation and disgrace, its sons killed and their blood spilled, its sanctities desecrated.

God has blessed a group of vanguard Muslims, the forefront of Islam, to destroy America. May God bless them and allot them a supreme place in heaven, for He is the only one capable and entitled to do so. When those have stood in defense of their weak children, their brothers and sisters in Palestine and other Muslim nations, the whole world went into an uproar, the infidels followed by the hypocrites.

A million innocent children are dying at this time as we speak, killed in Iraq without any guilt. We hear no denunciation, we hear no edict from the hereditary rulers. In these days, Israeli tanks rampage across Palestine, in Ramallah, Rafah and Beit Jala and many other parts of the land of Islam, and we do not hear anyone raising his voice or reacting. But when the sword fell upon America after 80 years, hypocrisy raised its head up high bemoaning those killers who toyed with the blood, honor and sanctities of Muslims.

Not seeing a whole lot of difference here between Ayers idea of education and OBL’s.

highhopes on November 14, 2008 at 11:58 AM

I wonder how he would feel if someone shot him? Or someone killed someone he loved via a gun or a explosion?

Would he regret what he has done? Would he speak out about hand guns or pat the person on the back? Would he apologize for being a home grown terrorist? Would he die?

He is a complete stain on this society…

So if I set off a bomb every few weeks on his front porch it would not really qualify as terror because Bill Ayres simply had to be stopped, and I was acting to that end.

Akzed on November 14, 2008 at 11:59 AM

It is just shocking to me that a Cuomo wouldn’t interview Ayers in a way that would prove Obama to be a liar.
I’m betting his next interview is by RFK Jr, featured in Rolling Stone Magazine. Bobby won’t ask him about the Sirhan Sirhan dedication in the book.

I use to give the GRE and other tests for teacher certification. There are some SCARY folks teaching school. And I am not saying this on an apparent lack of basic knowledge (which is true) but their ability to handle stressful situations would give you pause about turning a roomful of youngsters to them. I realize that that is a broad application and there are indeed many fine teachers, there are far too many that need weeding out.

I used to teach math to education majors and graduate ed students. It used to scare me to think of how they were the ones who were supposed to end up teaching basic math to our kids. This is why we have so much math phobia in the US, because many of the teachers don’t understand the first thing about math and snap at young students who ask them questions they can’t answer, which includes just about every reasonable question. Many kids, once they get berated in front of their whole class by a teacher who is trying to cover for his/her ineptness, develop a strong resistance to asking or doing anything related to math. Of course, much of this is traced to the “new education” credo that teachers need only know ‘how to teach’ and not be competent in the fields they are teaching. Frankly, most of the (aspiring) teachers I worked with knew neither. Education is just a very weak field and it attracts very weak people.

The link won’t work for me.

I lived those times. It was obvious to anyone paying attention that Vietnam was another in a string of proxy events of the long Cold War. For Ayers to claim his was a human reaction to an oppressed yellow folk is a disingenuous lie. He is a communist parasite. He is probably speaking the strict truth when he says he planted no bombs (and therefore killed no people), he is a coward and a manipulator of others to manifest his wishes. He may have planted no bombs but he certainly planned with and supported those who did and those who certainly do have blood on their hands. Ayers shares their guilt and only got off on “technicalities” bought by his wealthy family and corrupt political Chicago creatures.

That this man is still not in hiding along with his skank mate is shameful.

The stories she tells and the changes she has seen. Amazing. When New York school teachers went on strike she taught everyday.
