Video: The ultimate Special Comment

posted at 12:00 pm on November 13, 2008 by Allahpundit

A masterpiece of distillation from HuffPo’s humor site, and it’s not their first. The one flaw: No “shut! the hell! up!” coup de grace. This idea has been tried before — the sheer volume of histrionics scattered throughout these 12-minute whinges practically demands a condensed version — but this is the first time I’ve seen cuts between multiple episodes, to emphasize the contrivance. Oh well. No doubt he’s crying all the way to the you know where.

Squarestate on November 13, 2008 at 12:12 PM

We cannot allow the word special to be used in conjunction with Olbermann. Does he realize that more people watch him on the net just to make fun of him, than people watch him on TV because they think he’s interesting.

Tommy_G on November 13, 2008 at 12:15 PM

I’m fortunate that I can’t tell how many shows are spliced together….

Wait, wasn’t 23/6 started in partisanship with Huffington Post (liberals)? Wow, I’m actually starting to feel somewhat sorry for Keith Olbermann. He had a SNL and Ben Affleck (liberals) mocking him. He the butt of the jokes of many late night comics (probably mostly liberals). And now a Web site started by the Huffington Post mocking him. Not good for Keith.

terryannonline on November 13, 2008 at 12:19 PM

In his world, he’s normal.

And his world is in charge.

God help us all.

notagool on November 13, 2008 at 12:19 PM

Can’t you just see him practicing in front of the mirror to get those riduculous inflections and facial expressions “just” right?

Hard to distinguish between Olby and Colbert.

Paul-Cincy on November 13, 2008 at 12:22 PM

That man needs to be committed to the Funny Farm. Or a brain transplant might help him. Unreal!

sheebe on November 13, 2008 at 12:23 PM

I’ve started watching him just for the unintentional comedy value. Now that Ben Affleck has completely demolished him on SNL, he’s kinda fun to watch. Of course he has zero idea what an ass he makes of himself every night. Which makes it even funnier.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on November 13, 2008 at 12:27 PM

I have to ask, but other than here, does anyone else out there actually watch this clown night after night? I am really having a hard time trying to imagine anyone who could stomach this idiot even less than 2 minutes.

Yeah, he would, portlandon.

Except he’s Howard Beale instead.

cheeflo on November 13, 2008 at 12:32 PM

Part of the reason this a**clown does this is because the nutroots eat it up. He copies them, then they copy him, ad nauseum.

pilamaye on November 13, 2008 at 12:30 PM

Well, his ratings are not that good. I am actually somewhat surprised that MSNBC extended his contract. Why keep someone who continually has less than stellar ratings? If I’m not mistaken Rachael Maddow is now doing better ratings wise.

I watched about two shows and couldn’t stand to go back. He never looks at himself, at the lack of facts supporting his positions or even the brick wall that the departure of President Bush will provide to his show.

Watch for Obama, this Fascist and a few others to try and live on a demonized memory.

Good thing he got the contract. Now if only GE and NBC could go bankrupt…

bloggless: You bet me to it, but, I can offer a possible answer to your question.
After reading a bit about Olby’s diminutive member and how disappointed some would-be girlfriends were when they found out about it, I would say that being gay would be preferable to what’s he’s got goin’ on now: ZIP-DO DA.

Hi all, I have been lurking here for over a year. Kept missing registration.

I refuse to watch this clip or any other of his. As a matter of fact, since near the end of the election I have removed (deleted the channels) MSNBC and CNN from my tuner. So now I don’t even have to by chance fall upon one of his rants when surfing for something to watch.

I do agree, although I cannot stand Ben Afleck’s acting or politics, he did a perfect Keith.

Liberal, conservative, or independent, every comic loves an easy target.

The gay thing really cracked me up

Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

A lot of the LGBT community loved the anti-Prop 8 “comment.” They thought it was him speaking from the heart (although to me it seems more like speaking from a template).

A few months back, I was watching some show about media bias. It had Rupert Murdoch on and someone asked him if he would hire Olbermann. He laughed out loud and said “goodness no, I FIRED him. He’s CRAZY!” and wouldn’t say anymore after that about the windbag. I don’t think anyone has buttonholed the loon better than Murdoch.

Webrider on November 13, 2008 at 1:34 PM

Between this and the SNL bit, it looks like even Olbermann’s target audience is starting to realize he’s a joke.

A complete lack of self-awareness is a gift that few are blessed with.

It’s actually typical among those on the far left. Totally unselfreflective. If that’s a word.

Paul-Cincy on November 13, 2008 at 2:23 PM

“I’m fortunate that I can’t tell how many shows are spliced together….
But is it just me or does KO only own like 5 ties?”

Naw, he has more than 5 ties, but there not tied.
I’m sure your aware KO saves his own urine, but perhaps you don’t know that he actual DRINKS his own urine, and this helps explain a lot.

One of the many side effects of his “drinking his own urine” is lose of motor control with his hands (among other things).

This means he can’t tie his own tie, and as you might imagine no one can tie it for him cuz well, uhm it’s that urine breath thing.
Well hope that helps!

DSchoen on November 13, 2008 at 2:26 PM

He is a character of a joke and a joke of a character.

TheSitRep on November 13, 2008 at 2:27 PM

This should be put side by side with the hilarious send up of him Ben Affleck did on SNL a couple of weeks back.

Is there a club for cynical individuals with such contempt in their heart as Olberman clearly embraces?

The contrast of moods and world views between people like Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and Dr. Thomas Sowell, Michelle Malkin, and Larry Elder on one side, contrasted with the likes of Keith Olberman, Rosey O’Donnel, Joy Behar, Michelle O’Bama, Sarah Bernhardt, etc. on the other side is remarkable!
