Report: Special, special lady being considered for Secretary of State

posted at 4:00 pm on November 13, 2008 by Allahpundit

Rahm as chief of staff, Podesta as head of the transition team, Summers or Rubin at Treasury, and now Her Majesty at State?

Why’d they nominate Hopenchange instead of her if we’re only going to get Clinton retreads anyway?

There’s increasing chatter in political circles that the Obama camp is not overly happy with the usual suspects for Secretary of State these days and that the field may be expanding somewhat beyond Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), Gov. Bill Richardson (D-N.M.), Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) and maybe former Democratic senator Sam Nunn of Georgia.

There’s talk, indeed, that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) may now be under consideration for the post. Her office referred any questions to the Obama transition; Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor declined to comment.

As much as I’d prefer a SoS who helped designate the Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization and who speculated publicly about possibly having to nuke Iran to a tool who played useful idiot to the mullahs at Davos by badmouthing Bush, why would Obama have an issue with Kerry or Richardson as frontrunners? If she stays in the Senate, she’s bound to end up as a point man on health care anyway, which should be enough to placate the PUMAs ahead of 2012. Naming Richardson, who’s got more experience than she does, would help him lock up Latinos, and naming Kerry would signal that he’s ready to pass “the global test.” Naming Hillary achieves nothing, really. Exit question: Anything to this at all?

Oh please, oh please, oh please! This would be right up there with John Lennon, and George Harrison rising from the dead and touring again as the fab four. Can you imagine the chaos in that white house?? Ahhh, good times. The sales of popcorn alone could bring back the economy.

She’d be foolish to associate herself that closely with The one’s admin, if, when he fails, she’ll go down too… I think she’ll hold out to be a Supreme…
Job security is better.

beththebaker on November 13, 2008 at 4:14 PM

No, not at all…she still wants to be Queen president; easier to access that position from the senate or governorship.

uncivilized on November 13, 2008 at 5:39 PM

With Hillary travelling all the time as SoS…

Party at Bubba’s house!

Mr_Magoo on November 13, 2008 at 4:36 PM

Can’t stop giggling

uncivilized on November 13, 2008 at 5:50 PM

Good grief. That’s more change we can count on. Why not appoint Jimmy as something too? Why do we have to have the same old choices every time a president gets elected. There are lots of talented scholars and political scientists and foreign policy experts out there without agendas and histories of corruption and cronyism…FIND ONE.

Why’d they nominate Hopenchange instead of her if we’re only going to get Clinton retreads anyway?

…because all of Wilson’s acolytes, and most of the Roosevelt New-Dealers, are dead….

…now, the question is will he poach Putin for talent? Might as well get folks used to dealing with an totalitarian monomaniac….

Puritan1648 on November 13, 2008 at 5:53 PM

Rather have her as SoS that SCOTUS. Get her out of Senate and maybe some NY Republican might run for her seat or it might even get that nanny state Mayor Bloomberg or Giuliani into the Senate.

eaglewingz08 on November 13, 2008 at 5:54 PM

The DNC and Obama have buried Hillary once. Fat chance they will let her rise again. Plus they have their hands full with Sarah who is a star and foe for the media. Hillary would be an apple in a bug’s shell and rot the Democratic Party from the inside.

alternative failures on November 13, 2008 at 5:56 PM

naming Kerry would signal that he’s ready to pass “the global test.”

Oh, please. The only foreign policy “experience” Jean-Claude Kerri had was when he came home from Vietnam and visited the North Vietnamese in Paris.

The man is only qualified to wax his boat.

Del Dolemonte on November 13, 2008 at 6:01 PM

I thought the rumor was Supreme Court for Hillary…looking for the lifetime gig. Ugh.

Rockygold on November 13, 2008 at 6:03 PM

If it came down to it I’d take her over Kerry the turncoat, but come on, what a bunch of stale choices. I liked the last line in the article:
And Obama could put her in his speed-dial for a 3 a.m. phone call every morning.

haha.

scalleywag on November 13, 2008 at 6:09 PM

Somebody get over here quick and beat the $hit out of me because I’m beginning to think she’s not so bad. (Only compared to The Big O, of course.)

Oink on November 13, 2008 at 6:09 PM

She’s just building her resume’. After all, she’ll have Palin to compete with when it comes time.

Go ahead. Ask me anything. :)
lol

AP, do you really think so? I thought they learned something from the thug treatment. Not saying you’re wrong, but we live in strange times.

Feedie on November 13, 2008 at 6:24 PM

Oh she wants that Presidential authority…for whatever is up her sleeve that her and Bill do with papers behind closed doors. Gee maybe she can get her old shredder back if we still have eletricity by then that is.

I think the Dem’s feel it’s important to have an administration that is already familiar with lying and thievery. There will be much to accomplish in those four short years. Experience is key.

anniekc on November 13, 2008 at 6:36 PM

Clinton or Kerry?

Tragic!

Ares on November 13, 2008 at 6:42 PM

we’d be lucky to have a hawk like her at SoS i’m all for it

Noneya on November 13, 2008 at 6:51 PM

Just an overture, but nothing sincere.

Yeah. Zombie Roosevelt for the Supreme Court!

jaleach on November 13, 2008 at 7:08 PM

I doubt he’ll elevate her. Unless it’s as a White House Intern.

baruchadam on November 13, 2008 at 7:32 PM

I am in.

Heard she was a definite “NO!” for Healthcare Czarina.

Tightrope dancer is the Queen. If the U.S.S. Messiah goes down in flames does she really want to be tied to it? I know one thing for sure, the Obamas and gang O’thugs had better watch their backs. No one is talking about the UnCivil, Civil War that might be going on in the DNC. There has to be boat loads of ticked off Clintonistas along with PUMAS that would like to see Obama run out of Washington. Not all Dems are trying to buy free Inauguration tickets to the swearing in ceremony.

freeus on November 13, 2008 at 7:33 PM

Maybe Hillary can invite some of the enemies of the US to meet her for tea at Fort Marcy Park….

bullseye on November 13, 2008 at 8:24 PM

My problem is Hillary was a big fan of madeline Allbright and as we can see with how it turned out withKim Jung in Korea and how Bin laden was allowed to roam the middle east without being killed even when he was offered to us gives me major reservations about her. She also voted yes on the war without even reading the report. Although I am glad she voted yes I think if she is a serious candidate for the spot her past performance should be taken into account.

Unless she would have the ability to help get him impeached, to move herself up the ladder.
If there is a way back to the White House,, the Clintons, I would think, will find it.
The Clintons are as much a problem for Obama as any Republican is.

Can I barf now?

sheebe on November 13, 2008 at 10:25 PM

She might be tough on jihad, to remake Bill’s legacy as a wanker, and to up her Terror Warrior credentials.

Order of Presidential Succession
# The Vice President
# Speaker of the House
# President pro tempore of the Senate
# Secretary of State

God forbid.

diogenes on November 13, 2008 at 10:39 PM

I don’t think such a choice would bode well for relations between the state and defense departments (as if they were ever that great.) I’m also predicting that Major General Barbara Fast will get one of the intelligence directorships (NSA most probably), which will be… interesting.

Send_Me on November 13, 2008 at 10:42 PM

Lets put that into a little more perspective.

Order of Sucession:
Obama – blah
Biden – What?
Pelosi – Oh S**t
Byrd – Coma
Clinton

Seems to me she is the best of the top 6.

And Gates or Hagel would be behind her.

He always called her divisive, polarizing, calculating, one of the most secretive politicians in America, monstrous, saying whatever it takes to win, disingenuous, untruthful, dishonest, attempting to deceive the American people, deliberately misleading, literally willing to do anything to win, and he has accused her of playing politics with war.

Hillary Clinton might not be such a bad choice for secretary of state. We survived Madelaine Albright–a real clown. Hillary brings some positive qualities to this job:

(1). Tough as hell–plays hardball well–no quarter.

(2). Works well for money and for herself. An ineffective state department is a benefit for the U.S.S.A.

(3). Will do all she can to emasculate Obama.

(4). Will bring higher level of anxiety to state dinners. I would hate to be the White House food taster!

PUMAs were a myth. Or irrelevant.

Take your pick.

p0s3r on November 13, 2008 at 4:31 PM

You dope it is neither. The MSM still doesn’t want us to have any relevancy, so they ignore the fact there are PUMAs out there. This is what we are doing right now:
http://msplaceddemocrat.wordpress.com/2008/11/13/the-lakota-indian-tribe-needs-help-desperately-in-south-dakota/

We are holding online funding drives as well as donating directly to funds for the tribe in Pine Ridge. What have you done for your country today?

And if that isn’t enough for you check out http://www.WAM08.org. It is a non-partisan grassroots group that phone banked, traveled the country from coast to coast and spent personal money to send out hundreds of post cards. What did you do for the country?

Did you stay home? Did you actually vote? Did you get oout from behind your computer screen do anything other than work?

Did you get past your “judgment” of the Republican ticket and do anything to help McCain and Palin?

I know what I am busy doing … I am giving time to my country, its Native Americans and the underserved like the Sioux living in hovels at Pine Ridge. Ask yourself what have I done for my country today.

Believe me you, helping your country doesn’t mean making inartful comments on a blog.

Obama as prez.
biden as VP.
Hilary as sec of state.
pelosi speaker.
Reid majority leader.

One quote comes to mind……

“ICE BURG!!!!! STRAIGHT AHEAD!!!!!”

(wheres my popcorn….)

Handel on November 14, 2008 at 3:46 PM

What an insult to Condeleeza Rice, a scholar on international matters, to even consider her. What possible qualifications could she have? That she traveled overseas, and really didn’t get shot at?
