Ayers: Oh, by the way, Obama and I actually are “family friends”

posted at 9:05 pm on November 13, 2008 by Allahpundit

Via Ace. The bad news? Obama was lying to us when he dismissed Ayers at the debate as merely “a guy who lives in my neighborhood.” The good news? We already knew that, thanks to Axelrod and Mayor Daley.

Anyway, belated confirmation.

“We had served together on the board of a foundation, knew one another as neighbors and family friends, held an initial fund-raiser at my house, where I’d made a small donation to his earliest political campaign,” he writes.

But right-wing commentators tried to use those connections to smear Obama, he says.

“Obama’s political rivals and enemies apparently saw an opportunity to deepen a dishonest narrative about him, that he is somehow un-American, alien, linked to radical ideas, a closet terrorist, a sympathizer with extremism,” Ayers wrote.

This turd will be on Good Morning America tomorrow to hawk his book, if you can believe it. Will Diane Sawyer think to ask him how friendly the families were? Or, more importantly, what he learned from his epochal meeting of the minds recently with Reverend Wright? A rich trove of video treasure awaits us in the morning, my friends. Exit question: Has anyone queried The One on what sorts of crimes one would have to commit to lose their coveted “family friend” status? I realize questions of basic personal judgment are inappropriate on “dishonest narrative” grounds, but I’m curious nonetheless.

This was so predictable. The MSM covered for O to get him elected and in so doing has legitimzed all of the above:

William Ayers and domestic terrorists (educator, rehabilitated, secretary of education, what a country!)
Socialism (“now i don’t have to worry about paying my mortgage” or anything else)
William Wright and white racism (just words, just words, just words?)
Rashid Khalidi and international terrorists (it’s okay, no need to worry)
Louis Farakahn and anti-semitism (it’s really not that bad…unless your Jewish)
New Black Panther Party (kill all the whites, just words, oh yeah and the Jews too, just words)
Belief that the US Constitution is a flawed document
ACORN voter registration fraud (done, over, now forgotten)
Fund raising fraud by Obama campaign (done, over, now forgotten)
Investigations on private citizens without cause (Joe Wurzelbacher, never happened)
Sexism, against any/all females not towing demo-socialist party line (that is a step backward for women)
The United States of America as an oppressor and “fundamentally” broken
Rap artists, the terms Ho, Nigga, whitey (officially “politically correct” except for white people)

Oh yeah, and the totalled car wreck of Fannie/Freddie with Dems at the wheel, well…that was all the fault of de-regulation and the Republicans. Get it yet? The MSM, in failing to do their objective best to report on the candidates soft pedaled all this as though it doesn’t matter. And because it didn’t matter then, it matters less now. They cannot turn on these issues as potential problems lest they demonstrate how badly they failed as journalists.

This is the result of our party allowing the MSM, Independents, and Donks to pick our candidate for us.

I allowed myself, like many, to forget that when John McCain was imploring us to “fight, fight, fight” he was likely talking about the conservative wing of his own party in his mind if his performance over the last eight years was any indication…..

since I am a member of that wing my funding him was truly a stupid waste of capital…..

Don’t forget that the Obama camp tried to get a TV ad about his friendship with Ayers pulled off the air by threatening legal action and then asking the Justice Department to get involved.

The ad was 100% truthful- but that didn’t stop the Obama campaign from trying to stand on their First Amendment rights.

Can we expect to see mass retractions from the media on their declarations that Palin was wrong to criticise Obama about Ayers? That she was the one misleading the public about the extent of the Obama-Ayers relationship?

An apology from Fact Check perhaps?

An apology from the President-Elect for his dishonest “fight the smears” website and his own lies about Ayers?

* Meetings of Electors and Transmission of Certificates of Vote to NARA
The electors meet in their State to select the President and Vice President of the United States. No Constitutional provision or Federal law requires electors to vote in accordance with the popular vote in their States. NARA’s web site lists the States that have laws to bind electors to candidates. The electors record their votes on six “Certificates of Vote,” which are paired with the six remaining Certificates of Ascertainment. The electors sign, seal and certify packages of electoral votes and immediately send one set of votes to the President of the Senate and two sets to the Archivist. The Federal Register preserves one archival set and holds the reserve set subject to the call of the President of the Senate to replace missing or incomplete electoral votes.

The only reason Ayers is newsworthy is the discrepancies which now exist between what he says about his relationship with Obama and what Obama said.
If he gets to hawk his book on Good Morning America without any really tough questions about Obama, then what can possibly be the point of having him on? To allow him to make profits on the notoriety he gained as a domestic terrorist?
I can’t watch the interview…can someone report what happens?

The RNC or 527′s need to slam Obama on this. I don’t give a crap about the election being over or not, but we need to take this guy out at the knees so that at worst he is an impotent president.

Perhaps as all of the Obama “truths” come out…Mr. Obama will have to ease up on some of his radical ideas. He hasn’t even been inaugurated yet and his radical cronies are spilling their guts- overloaded egos won’t be contained. The real key won’t be the information that comes out, but what news outlet knew what, and when. I can’t see Obama’s credibility withstanding his lies- but then again, I didn’t think Bill Clinton could overcome his either.

Sigh

anniekc on November 14, 2008 at 7:44 AM

He’s untouchable now. He could tongue-kiss Bill Ayers while the two of them danced naked on a burning flag on live TV, and nothing would change. Look at all the crap Clinton got away with. And he left the White House after eight years with soaring approval ratings. A Republican doing the same would have been frogmarched out of the Oval Office and dumped in SuperMax. Obama could pull off a Watergate scandal and get away scot free.

Kafir on November 14, 2008 at 8:18 AM

The use of the term “family friend” clearly means that the entire family are friends. Which serves to substantiate this:

The relationship between the Democratic Party’s Presidential candidate Barack Obama and Bill Ayers, the founder and leader of the now defunct terrorist organization Weather Underground, is deeper and closer than currently understood, according to an individual who has had a senior role in the Obama candidacy that has included direct contact with the candidate…

The source has stated that Obama and Ayers have a direct personal relationship that extends back to the 1980s and that there are now close ties between both Michelle and Barack Obama and Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, also a former leader of the Weather Underground. Global Labor believes the source to be highly credible but has not been able to confirm independently the comments made by the source.

McCain is the WORST RINO/Republican we have seen since Jim Jeffords. He handed the election over to Democrats, sabatoged his running mate (a potential rising star in the party), and worst of all, did not defend the Republicans in the economic meltdown…or anywhere else.

and who determines when Obama is eligible for criticism? The media? John McCain?

Did the left show any such courtesy when a month after 9/11 they began screaming inside job? Well best case scenario they claimed Bush knew and did nothing.

Obama is dangerous and he comes with LOTS of baggage. He will also be one of….if not THE most powerful president in history (media cult of worship and solid Democratic majority with many rule changes that weaken opposition to THE ONE). Once Minnesota and Alaska become settled, we may see a filibuster proof Congress.

My point is we already know how much of a disaster this “change” is going to be and we already know serious efforts are going to be made to make sure conservatives will not hold positions of power for a long time and all voice of dissent is shutdown (thank God Repubs are going after McCain-Fiengold but there’s still Fairness Doctrine and other efforts we don’t know about yet).

We owe it to ourselves and the country to give Obama as much of a shot as Bush and his government received.

I wonder if the Pentagon has done any studies of what sort of threat “small” and “big C Communists alike pose to our security. I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that the case of the Weather Underground bombing of a San Francisco police station in the early 70s was being re-opened, in the hope that modern forensic methods might make it possible to identify the culprits. And that Bernadine Doerhn was among the suspects.

Wouldn’t it be priceless to have “a family friend” of the sitting President indicted for murder?

ProfessorMiao on November 14, 2008 at 11:44 AM

The media didn’t want to or try to get one single interview with Ayers to clarify his relationship with Obama, but managed to send teams of journalists & lawyers to Alaska to interview Palin’s daughters school friends.

Then 10 days after the election, Ayers drops by the today show to promote his book saying he’s a family friend and made a donation to Obama’s earliest political campaign.

MOSCOW – Russian President Dmitry Medvedev plans to travel this month to Cuba and Venezuela, which have increasing military and trade ties with Moscow.

The U.S. has objected to Russia’s greater links with the two countries that have antagonistic relations with Washington.

Medvedev will visit Cuba on Nov. 27, the Kremlin press service said. He will also visit Brazil during the trip.

The Soviet Union was a stalwart supporter of Cuban leader Fidel Castro during the Cold War. Under Hugo Chavez, Venezuela has moved to buy millions of dollars in Russian weaponry and invited Russian energy giants to drill in the country’s oil fields.

A Russian naval flotilla is on its way to the Caribbean to hold joint military exercises with Venezuelan forces.

But didn’t the Chosen One tells us that Ayers was “just a guy in the neighborhood?

Anyone check out how the loons are spinning this revelation? I’m reluctant to venture into the slime pits to see.

questioning Obama about his alliances with his many committed Terrorist friends is racist.

In the case of Ayers, a technical analyis of the writing style of Obama’s national treasure “Dreams of my Father” indicates the reading level and sentence length exactly match Ayers writings. And, oh yeh, little Billy uses a lot of Nautical imagery. Guess what, so does Obama…in that one book….but not ever, in any statement for the rest of his life.

Friends indeed.

How does Colmes spin this?

The MSM would love to report on some domestic terrorism. They have no ratings and would love to go back to the 60′s. They are and will be complicit in anything of that nature.

William Ayers and domestic terrorists (educator, rehabilitated, secretary of education, what a country!)
Socialism (”now i don’t have to worry about paying my mortgage” or anything else)

They legitimize it so they can legitimize themselves and their ‘reporting’

Wow, the title of this post isn’t too disingenuous.

Obama- a weasel who deceived his way to the president-elect position by denying his relationship with a terrorist associate.

Sounds like grounds for the electoral college to vote against this liar.

profitsbeard on November 14, 2008 at 5:33 PM

There’s been a lot of ‘oh by the ways’ since he won the election. I am waiting for ‘oh by the way Obama’s not a citizen’.

Etangnor, that’s only SOME baby boomers. And even back then, Ayers was way too radical for most, even way too radical for most of the radicals.
