Obama raised an amazing amount of cash – credit to his team for their efforts as they made history.

Obama could have won with a fraction of that cash.

What is disturbing is we don’t really know where it all came from (and this applies to McCain too). Sure it is documented (sort of) but the sheer amount should worry us. Contributions buy influence. Huge contributions must buy more influence.

Yet no-one talks of capping it.

The closest we have got is banning foreign donations and we all know they slip through the net.

It’s not just a Marc Rich pardon here and there – scratch the surface of Bush’s “compassionate conservatism” (or HUGE government spending spree) and there are equally troubling questions.

If dem contributors pony up to this new solicitation well that’s their business. Repubs have no business decrying deficit spending after our party acted like drunken sailors under DeLay and Boehner and our Speakers of the House and Majority Leaders of the Senate. That’s a tad hypocritical.

Glad I’m not on that email list. I am not sending anybody money, from any party. I hope they all go bankrupt just like they are letting the rest of the country doing! This is beyond insane. I wonder how many people are actually going to fall for this and pony up their money only to have the Dems take it by force. I how those who voted for the One sit down shut up and enjoy the ride. Those of us who didn’t speak up and hope to God someone hears us.

The best thing that can happen to GM is let it restructure under Chapter 11. This would allow GM to renegotiate all of its UAW contracts or to ignore the UAW all together!!!

Which is exactly why the Dems will not allow this to happen. The UAW is the hand that feeds the Liberals and they will do whatever is necessary to keep them afloat, even if it destroys the company in the process.

What is most shocking is not the panhandling after an election; Robert Duncan – RNC chair – sent me a plea for dollars two and a half hours earlier in the day. What is stunning is that from a campaign that owes their victory to an economic crisis, they become suddenly tone-deaf about what is truly important to the voters. In Plouffe’s words:

We’ll get to work transforming this country. But first, we need to take care of the DNC.

Are we to assume that if the DNC remains broke, the country will just have to wait? Leave it to the party of the donkey to put the cart ahead of the horse.

How much of it was obtained illegally through the small donor credit card scam? How many foreign donations? We’ll never know because according to an article in Politico yesterday, it will not be investigated.

Hmmmm…. thinkin on the implications of this…

IF he is ever investigated, he’s going down. Under Sarbains/Oxley the CEOs and such of a business are held accountable for accounting problems.

Could this continued fund raising drive be there to “pay back” the illegal contributors that they are miraculously now going to find in their database?

While I can agree with many of the comments of gloom and doom – we did loose, after all, and especially for a small business owner like myself the months and years ahead look very dark – I see this as a real opportunity for our side! We need to start at home in the grass roots and revitalize the GOP! It was silly to think that we could change from the top down – we have to start with our local areas – mayors, city and county councils, states, and then go to the federal level! Face it, Senator Obama IS our president, we can’t change that fact. But lets get some things done NOW so that we have someone who is a true conservative run for that spot in 2012!

I have been wondering where Soros has been during this election. I too think that he is manipulating things behind the scenes and that Obama owes his tsunami of funding to Soros. In 2004, Soros was everywhere and made no bones about the fact that he wanted to defeat Bush and the Republicans. This time around, not a word from him.

I agree… in order for socialism/fascism to be accepted by a society, a crises must occur, an emergency, if you will. I heard an interesting poll yesterday… 60% of Americans believe government isn’t intruding enough in our lives… but 4 months ago, the exact same poll showed 60% of Americans thought there was too much government intrusion…. interesting, EH?
