Heart-ache: Begich now leads Stevens in Alaska Senate race … by three votes

Yes, really. Three votes.

The elections division still has over 10,000 ballots left to count today and thousands more through next week, but the latest numbers show Mark Begich leading Sen. Ted Stevens 125,019 to 125,016.

The new numbers, reflecting nearly 43,000 absentee ballots counted today, are from all over the state. Election night, Ted Stevens led the Democratic Begich by about 3,000 votes.

The state today is counting a total of about 60,000 absentee and questioned ballots.

Isn’t it odd how late vote counts inexorably favor Democrats? Ah well. If Stevens, Chambliss, and Coleman all end up losing, then the magic number 60 is attained and we’re at endgame — although for the moment, I’m more dismayed at the thought that we might be denied a Senator ‘Cuda after all. Exit quotation: “[I]f they call an audible on me, and if they say they want me in another position, I’m going to do it.”

I think the REAL question is when does 43 (and the president who has made us all forget about how bad Nixon and Carter were) pardon Stevens?

Sherry=far left troll with nothing to add but snark. You’d think it would be enough her guy won and she could be happy now. Guess not.

We’ve been skeyrooed across the board on this election. I agree with the other posters who say 60 is just a feel good number. The sheer number of RINOs makes a 60-vote all too attainable; the Dems won’t even break a sweat.

Carter was far worse than Bush

it’s not giving up to hope Americans who voted for Obama get what they deserve. Why should we save their hairy butts? They’ll break it, they can fix it. Of course they can’t fix it.

The GOP shouldn’t be saving Americans from what they want, we should be using it as a teaching tool.

I don’t hold out hope in Minn. Franken and his machine have done an effective job in stealing that election. It is just a matter of time.

And this is a wonderful example of how every truly DOES count.
Why can’t people understand that?!

Senator Sarah Palin.

Why does that have a kickass TV ring to it?

But how does every vote count if the Democrats can keep on counting (and creating) votes until they win?

One man, one vote, as many times as needed……
