Video: Forces of tolerance confront Proposition 8 supporter

Via Ace, bravely blogging through a case of the shivering douchechills. Reminds me of that old Onion piece, except with terrified senior citizens and styrofoam crosses being snatched and broken. Charges will, apparently, be filed.

I don’t know what these dudes are so upset about. Surely they don’t think the California Supreme Court’s going to let the public get away with this, do they? Click the image to watch.

But in the “freedom from sin” context, I suppose what you said is sensible.

Thank you Christoph. This is what makes America such a great country…respecting each other views.

Ozark_sky on November 11, 2008 at 7:14 PM

Grow up and post them! It’s easy to say there are contradictions if it makes you feel better about not believing, but just because you say they exist doesn’t mean they do. (pssst..they don’t) But go ahead, please, by all means.

None?

So if I find one you admit, “I’m wrong,” and renounce your faith.

Because if that’s the situation and I have your word on it, I accept. Otherwise, it’s pointless because you’re faith based anyhow.

Christoph on November 11, 2008 at 7:14 PM

I would have clocked the first guy to grab that cross. Should be arrested for assault and destruction of property.

You’re wasting your breath.

Gregor on November 11, 2008 at 6:59 PM

Oh, I know.

Simply trying to have a reasonable discussion with these loons is wasting my breath. I found that out firsthand the other night.

But I know the “you will be judged” card infuriates them to no end, and I shall indulge the guilty pleasure in doing so.

They’ve no respect for me, so I’ve no problem with telling it like I see it any longer.

Hawkins1701 on November 11, 2008 at 7:16 PM

I can’t imagine gays help their cause by attacking little old ladies carrying crosses. This isn’t a protest, it’s a thug rally. BTW, the gray haired lady didn’t seem nearly as scared as I would have been. I suspect that’s because she truly believed that she was doing the right thing. The reporter on the other hand…she obviously realized the danger they were in.

Dee2008 on November 11, 2008 at 7:16 PM

Please excuse my ignorance, but why is the Mormon church such a target? I would expect that most Christian denominations were pretty vocal supporting this proposition. Or did they treat this like abortion?

Well,here in Ontario,Canada its legal!

Like I’ve said before,us easy going polite Canadians
passed same sex marriage,while I don’t agree,I do believe
everyone’s rights shouldn’t be trampled upon!

Once passed,it takes that issue out of the political
debate,its done!
——————————————————-

I can not grasp the militiancy approach of the same-sex
marriage by the Liberals,it seems that in almost every
debate,wether its Anti-War Moonbats,Enviromental wacko’s,
or the groups who oppose Israel, and speak up for the
Palestinians litterly turn violent, shout you down, and
really want you to shut the h#ll up!

And I fear, now with Hopey, and especially Dorhn and Ayers
they might get a little more bolden as how they approach,
these protests!

For the left to treat Christians,in this video, tho,is very
disturbing, and the aggresive tactics they deploy to shut
the other side is scary, and not right!!

I sincerely hope, the Lefty groups don’t take this kind of
behaviour to the next step, and bypass peaceful protest,
and think violence is their only route!

And yes,I know for years the Leftys have gone that route,
I just hope it doesn’t morph to allout street style warfare!!

OBQuiet on November 11, 2008 at 7:17 PM

As a person of faith, I find the stomping of the cross disgusting. As a citizen, I find this suppression of free speech disgusting. As a Heterosexual I find this display of homosexual rage sad. As a person, I feel the assault on an elderly woman pathetic and I’d like to see someone pelt some of these guys. But….I would have to have a homosexual friend punch him in the face because as a heterosexual I would be charged with a hate crime for defending an old woman.

portlandon on November 11, 2008 at 7:12 PM

just wanted to post this again. Well said portlandon.

Ozark_sky on November 11, 2008 at 7:18 PM

When i said: They are digging their own grave of intolerance,
I meant the rabid mass of intolerant pro-gay ‘marriage’ tools in the clip, not sane gay folks.
If their goal is to end or diminish Christianity, they’re merely creating more faith and ‘converts’ thru their rage. They don’t get it…I’m not a religious person but i will defend Christians any day over this rabble.

Christine on November 11, 2008 at 7:18 PM

By their standards, that should be a hate crime, taking the cross and stomping on it.

This kind of crap needs to be stopped before someone gets hurt.

reaganaut on November 11, 2008 at 7:07 PM

Won’t happen … we’re too far inside the beast of multiculturalism and political correctness. Gays are part of the victim hierarchy, and as such have exemption to “hate crimes” … same as blacks, hispanics and everyone else who isn’t white. Christians have no favor at all and are considered “free targets”. This is just like Europe, where proclaiming your Christian beliefs has the potential to wind you up in jail, or at least severely beaten.

In my opinion, the only way to handle verbal and physical violence from the left is to beat them at their own game. We must not be afraid to confront thugs and be even more intimidating, and as verbally and physically abusive as the left. We will not win by being “tolerant” with thugs.

This is the age of Newspeak. The majority cannot be allowed to rule….unless it’s a 4-3 majority of the Kalifornia Supreme Court.

GarandFan on November 11, 2008 at 7:22 PM

It is time for UNITY. We shouldn’t be so divisive. Gay marriage is gone in California. Accept it. Voters made their choice clear, TWICE. Now let the healing begin.

El_Terrible on November 11, 2008 at 7:22 PM

As intelligent conservatives were smart enough to be able to channel all this negative energy where it will do the most good. We’re compassionate people. We can feel their pain. We sympathize when the elected politicians pay only lip service to an issue. If only Nancy, Diane, Barbara, and of course Barak had cared less about themselves and more about their plight; the outcome could have been different.

meci on November 11, 2008 at 7:23 PM

We’re calling the physical intimidation of old ladies, suppression of free speech, and denigration of the symbol of the nation’s dominant religion “rallies”? Really?

Wow. Welcome to the Obamanation.

This is what makes America such a great country…respecting each other views.

It’s actually the ability to publicly say you don’t respect someone’s views, and to do so peacefully and publicly, that makes our respective countries great.

Christoph on November 11, 2008 at 7:27 PM

If they throw enough tantrums and hissy-fits, do they think people will be more likely to support them?

reaganaut on November 11, 2008 at 7:07 PM

Unfortunately, that’s EXACTLY the way it works in today’s society.

Gregor on November 11, 2008 at 7:27 PM

Oh boo hoo. So there was a protest, so people are angry, so they yelled at some old women. People need to be yelled up, so they wake out of this idiotic ideology that says you have a right to tell people who they can and cannot marry.

And don’t give me that crap “they’ll force my church to marry them” BULL! Churches can deny any heterosexual couple they want to now, why would that be any different. Why on earth would a gay couple want to be married in a church that did not want them, by a priest/pastor who didn’t celebrate their union together. It’s fear mongering hogwash. If marriag is going to be a province of the state (and it shouldn’t) then gay marriage should be legal. There isn’t a single reason not to other than your own bigotry towards people who are different. But wait, that’s kind of why the GOP keeps losing elections. :)

So you are all for beating up little old ladies because they disagree with you ?

William Amos on November 11, 2008 at 7:31 PM

WOW! These No on 8 folks know how to throw a temper tantrum.

Attack an old lady…that will so help the gay cause.

And the reporter’s comment that this is happening on BOTH sides…sorry HAVE NOT SEEN IT!!!

jawbone on November 11, 2008 at 7:31 PM

Longtime gay rights advocate Dean Trantalis of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and others on the conference call expressed concern that the gay rights movement had become too focused on marriage, and is now paying the price in other more critical areas. “Marriage was never our issue,” Trantalis said. “It was thrust upon us by the other side, and they’ve done a very good job of beating us up over it.”

I found this bit of the article interesting. Suddenly gays were never really all that big an issue? This is after years of declaring that the only “justice” is for American society to legitimize sodomite marriage. This change tells me that years of not-even-close defeats the homosexuals have decided to pressure a President Obama to get the courts to overrule the will of the people. If the bastard does attempt that, he does so at his own peril since it is clear this is a deal breaker among many of the idiots who voted the bastard into office.

highhopes on November 11, 2008 at 7:32 PM

“Rewind the Tape”. The gay agenda is about restricting the rights of Christians, and anyone else who disagrees with them. For all of you who voted no, or would have voted no on Prop 8, I hope this video wakes you up to the reality that homosexuals who demand gay marriage have no intention of stopping there. They will do everything they can to pass hate crime legislation for anyone who objects to their sexual perversion.

Yeah, it is happening on both sides. But you’re absolutely right…attacks like this don’t help the cause.

No matter what group you can find, there is a loud, vocal fringe making the rest look bad.

And in no way do I condone such attacks…but when a people are denied basic humanity, things can get a little heated.

DeathToMediaHacks on November 11, 2008 at 7:28 PM

There are plenty of reasons but you clearly have no intention of doing anything but scream bigotry at anybody who dares uphold the tenets of his/her faith. You, friend are the intolerant bigot here because you don’t even respect other points of view. That’s why you homosexuals keep losing referedums on legitimizing your deviant lifestyle.

highhopes on November 11, 2008 at 7:34 PM

Send in the Samoan/Tongan Mormon Prop 8 squad to protect that dear old lady.

jawbone on November 11, 2008 at 7:34 PM

“There’s a lot of anger, and a lot of hate, quite frankly, on both sides…”

Yeah,, get that?! The old woman is spit on, hit on the head, surrounded and shouted at, has her cross stomped on and the “fair and impartial” news anchor says their’s a lot of hate on both sides!
At some point,, Real Americans are going to have to confront the gang/thug mentality of groups like this!
I don’t care if they are gays or ACORN or envirowackos!
What can we expect next? Murder in front of the cameras while news anchors wonder aloud how the victims can be so insensitive??

JellyToast on November 11, 2008 at 7:35 PM

Again the question is did prop 8 prevent gay people from being gay ? Did it prevent any relation from existing ? Doe it enslave or attack anyone for being gay ?

William Amos on November 11, 2008 at 7:35 PM

The gay agenda is about restricting the rights of Christians, and anyone else who disagrees with them.

JetBoy on November 11, 2008 at 7:35 PM

Hey! What are the odds that all of California’s gay community will pack up and move to Massachusetts?

Hint hint!

Gregor on November 11, 2008 at 7:36 PM

Churches can deny any heterosexual couple they want to now, why would that be any different.

Because heterosexual couples don’t have “victim rights”. Gays do … so do minorities.

But really, all they have to do is wait for someone to challenge the freedom of religion clause and a complicit Supreme Court to agree that freedom of religion means something other than freedom of religion.

Look, the 2nd Amendment barely survived a 5-4 vote … that’s insane. It will come up again and it probably won’t survive a second go round. Freedom of speech and religion will be challenged.

darwin on November 11, 2008 at 7:36 PM

How is something that naturally occurs in nature a perversion? Doesn’t make a lick of sense. Also? How is homosexuality encouraged by gay marraige. Gay people tend to grow up in heterosexual households, surrounded by heterosexual marriage and they still are gay. Also, scientists have pretty much closed the book on gay as biology, not choice. Are these “liberal marxist” scientists. Oy, the ignorance of the right on these issues.

DeathToMediaHacks on November 11, 2008 at 7:37 PM

“Post them.”

No, you slippery little weasel.

First, in any contest between a believer and a sceptic, the burden of proof is on the sceptic. It is your religion which claims a particular child was the living Son of the Creator of the Universe, and extraordinary claims demand extraordinary proof.

However, you’re asking for an extensive amount of work from me, work which I’m perfectly capable of doing, but if you expect me to reproduce it for you there must a tangible reason for it.

You say there are no contradictions in the Bible. None.

I say there are.

Further, I also say Jesus was the person in the Bible who introduced eternal torture in Hell as the punishment for Sin, in particular, not believing in him, and that there’s scant evidence outside of the Bible that Jesus existed anyway (and the contradictions in the New Testament are suspicious, to say the least, as were attempted Christian forgeries in adding to the words of the Jewish historian Josephus, for example).

However, giving you your links and references is work.

So, if I do this and prove there are contradictions in your Bible, will you be intellectually honest and admit:

1. “I’m wrong.”
2. “I renounce my faith.”

Because otherwise you’re just wasting my time as you’ll fall back on some type of emotional you gotta have faith argument and no reason nor evidence can ever overcome it.

Christoph on November 11, 2008 at 7:37 PM

There seem to be variations between the Gospels describing Christ’s last words and the events at the tomb on Easter morning. Do you find the accounts in the Gospels are without contradictions?

dedalus on November 11, 2008 at 7:40 PM

When they say “altercation” and “a lot of anger on both sides”, that seems to misrepresent the obvious facts.Words mean things, and those words do not fairly describe what the evidence clearly shows.

There is anger on ONE side. There is no “altercation”..there is an attack, there is an attempt to scare an old lady and there is suppression of free speech.

Unless and until the media accurately reports what is plainly in sight, they will never have credibility when they report upon what we can’t see.

So, put it on the ballot and see how it comes out. That’s up to the people to decide. We took care of that last Tuesday.

I’ll be cheering for you!

Gregor on November 11, 2008 at 7:45 PM

We tried that, unfortunately the Massachusetts SC knows whats best for its citizens, resistance is futile.

No you weren’t. Last I checked you have the right to get married just like the rest of us. We have nothing to do with your choice of lifestyle.

Stop exaggerating.

Gregor on November 11, 2008 at 7:47 PM

Awwww. Just when I started to get my hopes up that you had turned a corner. Oh, well. More praying for me to do.

apacalyps on November 11, 2008 at 7:45 PM

There’s no corner that needs to be turned. I have my opinion based on my conservative/libertarian viewpoints. If anything, I see the attempt to restrict the ability of churches to marry two consenting adults as being a more liberal stance then conservative.

No intelligent person, including Theologian (a made up science about nothing if there ever was one) believes the Bible is without contradiction.

Christoph on November 11, 2008 at 7:43 PM

Heh. Such force, but not a single example to back it up. Too much trouble to actually READ it?

Gregor on November 11, 2008 at 7:49 PM

My gawd. First, let me say this – I don’t care one bit about gay marriage. Not something I lose sleep over. But, in seeing some of these episodes from the “gay community” lately, I’m inclined to vote against measures they support. Frankly, I don’t like violent, thuggish crybabies having their way. Last time this was on the ballot in Ohio, I voted against it, simply because I’m sick of seeing things like this, and well…..I hate Rosie O’Donnell.

They do not help their own cause when they attack old ladies….and the sad part is that they’re too stupid to realize it. And it’s also incredibly immature to go out and whine like a little B***h just because you don’t get your way.

Gays…you LOST….twice……that’s what voting is about. GROW UP!

They will do everything they can to pass hate crime legislation for anyone who objects to their sexual perversion.

Genesis 19
4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”

6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”

9 “Get out of our way,” they replied. And they said, “This fellow came here as an alien, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.

10 But the men inside reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door. 11 Then they struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness so that they could not find the door.

It is the same as it always was.
As long as there is one Christian family sitting alone in their own home,, they would eventually surround that home and demand they come out!
No matter how many their numbers, no matter how much their fame,, God is not impressed.

Seriously, dude. You should just chill out about that whole “all I want is the rights granted to me by the Constitution”… Kinda douchey.

Why should your faith be the guiding line for public policy on marriage?

Why was the woman holding a cross? Your religion has nothing to do with our government’s guaranteeing of equal rights, lady. Both sides seem like complete asses in this particular incident.

The woman was obviously expressing her belief that her religion doesn’t condone homosexuality. Really…..You didn’t get her carrying a cross? Being as this country was founded on freedom of religion with an emphasis on God as the almighty, I kinda thought that was obvious. To each his own, I guess.

So you wouldn’t mind if Jetboy marries your daughter? or your sister? Wouldn’t it be easier to let him marry a male partner and give him the equal rights than have him live a lie and marry a female?

JetBoy on November 11, 2008 at 7:52 PM

BTW keep in mind many of those that voter for Prop 9 were democrats. This wasnt a GOP backed issue. The Black Churches also spoke out against it.

Why is it that the anti-gay marriage folks (who I normally agree with on other issues) always sound like fascist, condescending assholes when they talk about this issue?

We’ll be experiencing the same thing here very shortly.

The Court will rule that it’s “unconstitutional”, ignoring the obvious irony of “will of the people.”

Again does prop 8 prevent any gay from having any relationship they want ? As far as I know Gays can still live together so there is no real loss there.

I saw somewhere today/yesterday about a hysterical crowd in West Hollywood who were blaming blacks for the passage of Prop 8. And a few black gay guys WITH signs were set upon by their fellow inverts with n-bomb this, n-bomb that. The poor things were traumatized. Black and gay, their ‘identities’ were tossed about in a maelstrom.
