Via Ace, bravely blogging through a case of the shivering douchechills. Reminds me of that old Onion piece, except with terrified senior citizens and styrofoam crosses being snatched and broken. Charges will, apparently, be filed.
I don’t know what these dudes are so upset about. Surely they don’t think the California Supreme Court’s going to let the public get away with this, do they? Click the image to watch.

I know we’re bound to get an offensive comment or two, or 20, in this thread, so let those so inclined be warned in advance to refrain.

As a guy I have to say, I hope this reporter isn’t gay.

I love how libs only tolerate the democratic process when it goes in their favor.
Lance Murdock on November 11, 2008 at 6:34 PM
I support gay civil unions. In fact, I support straight civil unions too. Leave civil unions up to the state, and marriage up to the church. Simple as that.
Anyone who disagrees with me a religious nut who wants to see religion imposed on society.
Xolom on November 11, 2008 at 6:36 PM
Great to be livin in a red state.

BTW I sent this to ACE and ed I forgot to add you Allah sorry.

Speaking as your resident non-Christian (like Churchill, before all you people start going on a tear), what the hell was that News anchor talking about?
Christoph on November 11, 2008 at 6:38 PM
This was a follow up video they did after that
William Amos on November 11, 2008 at 6:38 PM
Christian protesters there… weren’t acting hatefully. Maybe that woman was thinking hate while standing there calmly and bravely, holding her ground. I don’t know.
But the huge volume of hate seemed to be coming from the (mostly, I assume) homosexual Prop 8 opponents.
Christoph on November 11, 2008 at 6:39 PM
In the second video they did after that. The old lady said they hit her on the head and spit on her as they were stomping on her Cross.
William Amos on November 11, 2008 at 6:40 PM
The LGBT’s love their freedom. They hate everyone elses and will do anything to shut down the dialog. They know they don’t have the backing of the majority so they resort to violence intimidation and demand superior rights to push their agenda. Prop 8 passed, the LGBT’s lost. Grow up or get out. LGBT “rights” do not trump everyone elses.
Kuffar on November 11, 2008 at 6:41 PM
But … but … I thought gay people were happy people?!?!
Loony leftists always get worked up when they see the World around them is basically conservative. My advice to them is, “Get over yourselves already!”

Really, what’s the purpose of this red meat thread, if not to get people riled up, and then threaten to ban them?

Preposterous outrageous liberal media spin.
jgapinoy on November 11, 2008 at 6:42 PM
Who could ever stomp on a cross. For it is the cross that provides us with true freedom.
Ozark_sky on November 11, 2008 at 6:43 PM
Voting on these issues is the best solution for our democracy.
If the gays want to change peoples attitudes it’s up to them to head into the communities and convince people. They need to develop dialog with religious groups.
There’s no limit to how many times they can raise the issue. However, to have a judge simply decide whats best for everyone is the worst way to deal with these “moral” issues…..including abortion.
Democracy is the only way to force groups to come to a consensus.
mylegsareswollen on November 11, 2008 at 6:43 PM
By marching on a Mormon church and trouncing on an old lady’s cross, no doubt.
At least a few of those bastards in either of those videos (also William Amos’ link, which was the source of my first quote) belong in jail.
Christoph on November 11, 2008 at 6:43 PM
Imagine if a bunch of pro-Prop 8 people acted like that. It would be the lead story on network news.
jgapinoy on November 11, 2008 at 6:43 PM
Attacking an elderly woman is their bravado. And, ya posting a red meat thread and threatening posters is pretty cool also.
Rode Werk on November 11, 2008 at 6:44 PM
Allah, I hope this isn’t one of the comments you were worried about, but dammit.

Wow. Just…wow. I’m rarely amazed at the intolerance of the “tolerant”, but this took the cake.

Anchor – “There’s obviously a lot of hate and anger from both sides”. Journalism 2008.
marklmail on November 11, 2008 at 6:45 PM
Ace managed to get riled up without saying anything offensive, as did pretty much everyone else in the comments here. Not so hard.
Allahpundit on November 11, 2008 at 6:45 PM
Typical liberal hate mongering…nothing new, I am just always amazed at how the journalist feign their shock over anger from the left.
right2bright on November 11, 2008 at 6:47 PM
Yeah, that little old lady sure was spewing a ton of hate at that poor crowd of people who wanted to block the camera with their signs, destroy her sign, shout her down, and damn sure looked like they were ready to hurt her.
I wonder what two or three blanks shot in the air would do to quiet down that mob.
MadisonConservative on November 11, 2008 at 6:47 PM
I’d like to know if the anti-prop 8 people have, what do you call it, a permit to protest? Maybe that would be the first question that a good reporter would ask.
PappaMac on November 11, 2008 at 6:47 PM
That bit of leadership blessed this revolutionary behavior.
I hope there’s someone like that on our side someday.
RushBaby on November 11, 2008 at 6:47 PM
I challenge anyone to come up with one example of something a straight man is allowed to do, that a gay man is not. Heterosexuals have the same rights, no more, than homosexuals. A straight man can no more wed another man, than a gay man can. How come they can’t understand that? A gay man has the same rights as me. If he wants to marry a woman, he can. If I want to marry a woman, I can. Neither one of us can marry another man, so why do they claim that only gays are discriminated against? One’s motive for marrying is a personal matter, just as is one’s sexual orientation. The law does not discriminate against gays anymore than it discriminates against straights. What a straight man has the legal right to do, so does a gay man.

If they don’t like democracy, and they don’t like religious people, I recommend they learn Chinese and move to what must be their idea of paradise.

Yea, Palm Springs media idiot…there’s lots of hate on both sides. How many people for extra-rights-for-gays were there and how many were pro-CIVIL unions? Gee, I think it was about 100 to 3.
Actually I didn’t see any hate spewed by the lady and her two escorts. However, that will teach them to speak their truth to the ‘righteous’ power of the Pink Hand. Tolerance, my posterior.

Kinda scary how they were trying to block the cameras. Why? So they can beat up an old lady and there’d be no evidence?
CookeyD on November 11, 2008 at 6:53 PM
So I guess in the eyes of the reporter, someone’s mother, grandmother, sister or wife holding a cross, just standing up for what she believes in,…is “anger”???
idiot! The people have spoken,…get over it, and get back to drawing your rainbows and telling the rest of the world about peace and love,..but before you do that, would you mind helping the senior citizen back up on her feet!

As a Californian I am proud we, as a State voted to preserve traditional marriage.
Only about 8 counties of over 52 voted against Proposition 8 and they were limited to the Central and North coast including Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, San Mateo, S.F, Marin and Mendecino Counties.
L.A., San Diego, San Bernardino and the entire central state from Bakersfield to the Oregon border supported traditional marriage.
Oh and Arnold is a girlie man for telling the minority position he hopes the will of the people is overturned.
FireBlogger on November 11, 2008 at 6:54 PM
If the CA Supreme Court somehow undoes a Constitutional Amendment on the grounds that it is unconstitutional, at least the justices will have to admit their tyranny. They sure as hell can’t justify the ruling based on doing their job, and applying the constitution.
And it will be game over for me living in this state.
(Of course, I realize that this tyranny will eventually be brought by the U.S. Supreme Court. We can’t even exclude illegal immigrants from social services, thanks to the 14th Amendment, so why should this be any different?)
Since none of my support for the rights of domestic couples brings me out of the “bigot” category for these people, I’m done being compassionate. I’m done apologizing for what I believe.
I do not, and never will, support gay marriage.
Imagine if these childish fascists could muster an ounce of this energy towards, say, speaking out about gay execution (after being sodomized) in Muslim countries.
Doing that would require morals. Doing that would require courage. Doing that would require getting the ACLU to turn against them, and join in an anti-defamation lawsuit with CAIR.
Doing that would require standing up to someone a little bit tougher than an old lady. (That woman is incredibly brave, by the way.) Doing that would require going up against an enemy that will fight back, and knows how to play the fascism game too.
In lieu of lowering myself to their contemptible level with bile and insults, I will say something that will upset them far more.
We will, all of us, be judged.
And so will they.
Based on their actions, I’d invite them to look in the mirror, and think about how they shall be judged for this.

Isnt the first sign of violence on the other side
A man assaulted an elderly couple because they had Yes to prop 8 sign on the lawn.
William Amos on November 11, 2008 at 6:55 PM
So, silently holding up a cross is hate.
Screaming, intimidating, tearing property out of an old lady’s hand and stomping on it, covering her with signs, also is hate.
Cutting edge journalism on the part of the anchors, eh?. I do give the reporter points though. Not sure what she hoped to accomplish – maybe protect the old lady, maybe just journalistic integrity. Either way, courageous. Very unlike the bigots doing the screaming.

Non-believers don’t care, because … they don’t believe!
You’re wasting your breath.
Unfortunately, any of the remaining arguments available are liable to get you banned by Allah.

“I don’t know why the gays hate on the Christians so much.” They represent the self hatred and massive guilt they (the crazy gay activists) feel but deny about their ‘lifestyle’. They represent the judgment that they really have for themselves and they resent a religion that’s based on Love: something that they can’t really fathom. It’s all about THEM anyway…sexual orientation is their most important ‘right’, and that society owes them something.
Christine on November 11, 2008 at 7:03 PM
Didn’t mean to offend you Christop. It’s what I believe. The cross is very sacred to me. What the cross represents has set me free from my sins.

“Didn’t mean to offend you Christop. It’s what I believe. The cross is very sacred to me. What the cross represents has set me free from my sins.”
I wasn’t offended; more bemused and exasperated.
Thanks for explaining. I interpret freedom to mean just that, the freedom to make my choices. IN THAT sense, what you said is illogical.
But in the “freedom from sin” context, I suppose what you said is sensible.

I know some people are born gay, others are ‘made’. I’d wager a guess that the latter make up most of the gay mafia. The gay folks i know don’t push their agenda on the electorate, nor do they need to be married in order to feel equal to hetero couples. They are digging their own grave of intolerance.
Christine on November 11, 2008 at 7:09 PM

AubieJon on November 11, 2008 at 7:11 PM
Take your own advice. I don’t believe the Bible is the word of any god any more than you do. At least show some respect to the people who hold different beliefs than you, if you’re even capable of such a thing.

As a person, I feel the assault on an elderly woman pathetic and I’d like to see someone pelt some of these guys. But….I would have to have a homosexual friend punch him in the face because as a heterosexual I would be charged with a hate crime for defending an old woman.
