Nick is spot on. The media are overwhelmingly liberal, and DECADES of pounding their view has paid off.

Carl Cameron is reporting that News Corp has spent $150,000 a day on Shep’s makeup

Shep is an idiot! He has been headed down this path for a few months now, if not longer.

Sheppard Smith is one more reason not to watch fox news.
dragondrop on November 11, 2008 at 10:27 PM
Shep…you dope. The media reflects the attitude of the people? What ever happened to simply reporting FACTS?
Another douchebag outs himself.
csdeven on November 11, 2008 at 10:27 PM
Methinks MSNBC should make some room for Shep.
Daft Punk on November 11, 2008 at 10:28 PM
No vetting by the Media of Obama is its eternal shame.
Blustering and denying is only a pathetic attempt to cover up this world-historical derelection of duty.
It’s putridity will one day be proverbial: the MSM coup d’etat.

Now that Glenn Beck has joined Fox News, Sheppard Smith should move over to CNN or MSNBC.
timinnc on November 11, 2008 at 10:30 PM
How are those ratings working out for you, Shep?
sherry on November 11, 2008 at 10:30 PM
Can someone give Shep a poster that shows the ratios of Media bias such as postive vs. negative stories for Obama and McCain? What about a nice comparison of Palin vs. Biden coverage? Preposterous? Go F yourself Shep, you have lost your teeny little mind if you think the media is down the middle.
cannonball on November 11, 2008 at 10:31 PM
Michelle…do you have access to Shep? Is he that ignorant or is he that big a tool?
csdeven on November 11, 2008 at 10:31 PM
Anonymous sources told me that Smith is a douche. A used one at that.
SouthernGent on November 11, 2008 at 10:31 PM
Me thinks it’s time to start a campaign on Shep like we did with Carl Cameron. Email him and call him on his….bias.
csdeven on November 11, 2008 at 10:33 PM
Pointing out the obvious media bias is not a strategy, it is an observation

If it wasn’t for the MSM elevating Obama like they did, he’d still be a community planner back in Chicago. Maybe it’s not what the MSM did, but what they didn’t do… ask hard hitting, investigative questions.

Shepard Smith is an asshat. The guy has always been one small step from going postal and spilling his liberal leanings.

More proof that Shep Smith is a flaming tool.
Reason #34 why I do not watch Fox News any longer.
carbon_footprint on November 11, 2008 at 10:37 PM
Really? The media wasn’t in the tank for Obama? WoW! So glad we heard about anything remotely possible to tear apart Pailin when Obama’s squeaky clean record, associates, own words – not to mention his grand Biden pick couldn’t keep his foot out of his mouth – again – WoW!
TacomaNWTF on November 11, 2008 at 10:38 PM
Seems like Shep has decided that he is a Beltway Elitist.
Got a NEWS FLASH for ya, Skippy.
You’re still just a frat boy from Ole MIss.
Bummer, Dude.
kingsjester on November 11, 2008 at 10:38 PM
I bet Shep is trying to set himself up for a big time anchor gig.
Chubbs65 on November 11, 2008 at 10:38 PM
My professor Brian Lewis works in Fox News Corp. said Shep was the “face of Fox News” and that is why he got the big contract of $7 million. I was about to fall off my chair in class. I said “Hannity is. Nobody sees Fox News for Shep!”
The class laughed. I am the lone republican so they know I watch Fox News. This was in 2006.
I know a lot of people who listened to Hannity on the radio as a result watched Fox News.

Tim Zank on November 11, 2008 at 10:40 PM
As a fellow University of Mississippi “Ole Miss” alumnus, I’ve always liked Shep, but I’m not so sure about that now.
By the way… I read an article that stated of over 60 college newspapers surveyed, Ole Miss was the only one to endorse McCain. The rest went for Obama.
behiker on November 11, 2008 at 10:40 PM
Look, I’m sorry, but I don’t get the right’s acceptance of Shepherd Smith. I effing hate the guy, and have since I first heard or saw him (I don’t recall which happened first). He’s a big-time Liberal, yet another reason the left’s disparaging of Fox as right-wing is ridiculous.
sondiehl on November 11, 2008 at 10:41 PM
Shep is in the closet on a couple of counts now.
Kaptain Amerika on November 11, 2008 at 10:41 PM

I will admit that I get a mini-thrill up and down my leg when Michelle Malkin comments in a thread.
carbon_footprint on November 11, 2008 at 10:43 PM
Shep likes to drop these “bombs” every so often to “get lib TV/street cred”; that and the fact that he can be a buffon in the afternoons –Fox should send him to CNN!
rebuzz on November 11, 2008 at 10:44 PM
Kaptain, are you saying that Shep has something else he’s not admitting, beside his liberalism?
kingsjester on November 11, 2008 at 10:44 PM
It does appear to be a not-so-well kept secret that Shep bat’s for the other team, so to speak.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that…….

I cannot wait for Glenn Beck to take up residence at Fox. The funny thing to watch is going to be how the Fox “stars” take to him. He’s going to blow by Shep on day one. He’ll likely become more popular than H&C within 6 months and overtake Ted Baxter…er… O’Reilly within a year. I wonder who’s ego will blow up first.

RuffledRaven on November 11, 2008 at 10:48 PM
Note how Shep did what all liberals do, bully and dominate the conversation. Conservatives need to stop letting them get away with that.
The fact that the mainstream media is liberal is not even debatable. Even Walter Cronkite admitted it.
Stop letting them get away with lying!
Joe Pyne on November 11, 2008 at 10:48 PM
Why does Fox News continue to employ this homosexual actvist dressed as a “Fair & Balanced” reporter? This man is just trying to get his shot at one of the networks nightly broadcast. Sure as I sit here today, he will stab Fox News in the back as quickly as he can. Get rid of him. Did they learn nothing from McCain? When you have these treacherous liberals infecting your organization, prepare for a knife in the back. “Tell All” soon to come out about Fox News from the loyal Sheppard Smith aka Scott McClelland tonight on Countdown. Mark my words.
Sean on November 11, 2008 at 10:49 PM
Shep’s relatively calm because the RAT won. We know how he acts when the RAT loses and someone takes his parking space. lol.

Well, if Shep is an example of an alternative answer to the question of the media being in the tank… maybe they’re all just really stupid.
Do we still have a system of talent as sockpuppets to gatekeeping producers? I’ve been out of the loop for a while.
tuffy on November 11, 2008 at 10:50 PM
“I cannot wait for Glenn Beck to take up residence at Fox”
while i look forward to what he’ll do there; i’m not sure he can singlehandedly reverse the disturbing trend away from solid reporting and reasoned commentary to this pitiful tabloid junk o’riely and others are pushing …
/if greta stays “all saracuda all the time” that would help tho!

FloatingRock on November 11, 2008 at 10:55 PM
I really wish Shepard Smith & Anderson Cooper would just get married and stop all the whispering. They are both such flaming closet queens. Everything Shepard says now sounds like pillow talk he picked up from Anderson.
Hopefully Glenn Beck will pimp slap Shepard when he goes on his rants. I’d pay money to see that on the air.

We’ve all been there, don’t give in, you can outdebate them 5 at a time, all they can do is shout you down. Libs don’t really understand how things work, eventually you’ll have them listening to you and saying “Well, gee, I never thought of it like that.”
Tony737 on November 11, 2008 at 10:59 PM
I guess that about shoots it for him taking over for Britt Hume.

We always suspected you to be a liberal. NOW IT’S OFFICIAL!!

How does Smith’s sexual preferences have any relevance to this topic?
Joe Pyne on November 11, 2008 at 11:05 PM
the FM/FM crisis and who the media blamed is easy enough to see the biased there..
it’s as if the entire sub-prime debacle happened only on Bushes’ watch..
DaveC on November 11, 2008 at 11:05 PM
Me thinks Shep doth protest to much. Sounds almost like he is someone who is ashamed of the behaviour of others in his profession and the damage it has caused to the reputation of the media in general, but defends it anyway because to do otherwise would be an admission that the people should not trust what the media and himself by extension are reporting.
After their behaviour in this election the reputation of journalists in general is now on par with Politicians, Lawyers, Paedophiles, and abortion doctors.
Dreadnought223 on November 11, 2008 at 11:05 PM
Shep and Cooper should have a show together. It would be called the Buttway Boys.
ICBM on November 11, 2008 at 11:06 PM
It has the same relevance as you complaining about it does.
csdeven on November 11, 2008 at 11:06 PM
After watching Smith on that bridge in New Orleans bemoaning why the .gov wasn’t there yet to help people who were unwilling to help themselves, when he shows up on FNC, I either click to something else or hit the mute button.
azlibertarian on November 11, 2008 at 11:09 PM

It seems like I send at least an e-mail a week to Shep telling him basically to wise up!! I’m ready for him to move on. It’s time for him to go join all the other tabloids!
Ozark_sky on November 11, 2008 at 11:13 PM
When the personality and ego swells to be larger than the story/issue being reported on, it strikes me to be a problem for those that are in positions where impartiality should be used. Perhaps the problem is I’m still employing the nasty habit of using my own brain and judgement. My bad.
Watching this clip, the term “prima donna” instantly pops to mind..followed closely by a few other descriptive terms.

fireweednectar on November 11, 2008 at 11:20 PM
shep is a MORON, but he is a rich moron. I heard he is making over 9 million a year with is new contract at Fox. That is CRAZY
ousoonerfan15 on November 11, 2008 at 11:20 PM
Sheps sexual preference means nothing to me. I was merely trying to tie both Smith & Cooper together in their pillow talking ways. Also, there is a sense of “being in the closet” for both of them in that they deny their bias so loudly that I think “they doth protest too much”. Its kind of a 2 for one deal. I detest the fact that they aren’t honest in both their bias & sexuality.
portlandon on November 11, 2008 at 11:21 PM
I stopped watching Shep immediately after Obama was elected. I figured the guy was in the tank for Barry O all along but was most likely keeping it quiet because he would’ve stuck out like a sore thumb on Fox.
