But all she could now see was that picture of Palin’s pregnant 17-year-old looking defiant and stupid as she held mom’s fifth baby. (…) “Don’t they have birth control up in Alaska?” she asked. If that view has any currency among Republican-leaners, you can imagine what other independents are thinking.

The column gets ever more hateful as it goes on.

This really was the source of Bush derangement syndrome all along – Bush’s decency and moral courage.

Wanting Palin to abort the baby? No.

Don’t be so sure about that. I’ve heard on tons of occasions that Palin was “stupid” and “naive” for continuing that pregnancy. Allah, you really need to start running your positions by Malkin.

I have a four year old Down Syndrome niece. Liberals are amazingly hateful and disdainful towards my neice, without exception. My sister has been lectured by them, while holding her daughter in her arms, about how her daughter should have been killed.

In liberal-land, only perfect specimens are allowed to live. For the Left, Sarah Palin’s “sin” was not only not to abort Trig but also to produce five children. Libs don’t like big families, especially happy ones.

You cannot fake joy. The smiles and admiration that each member shares with the others are not just there for the camera. The Palins are a healthy, wholesome, attractive reflection of the American Dream. That video clip captures the essence of the Palins in their genuineness. They are loving, content, productive, and responsible.

(And darn it, that little Piper is a charming little pistol.)

Too bad Mr. Barone’s mother hadn’t aborted him.

Blake: Please accept my apologies for insulting you with my words. I am sorry. I won’t p**s off, tho. I know exactly what I’m talking about and participated in the carnage of abortions in the 70’s. I don’t want those days back. Mrs. Palin has my undying admiration for living her convictions. I believe had I ever been pregnant with a Down’s baby I would have aborted. I am quite ashamed of that.

signed off before your post, and don’t know if you’ll check back here, but wanted you to know your story touched my heart. That’s a toughy, in that case–rape of a child–your mother made the right decision, but it is no less heartbreaking. Too bad they didn’t castrate the rapist, too.

I don’t know that “they wanted her to abort Trig” but I do think that many absolutely don’t understand why she didn’t. Perhaps they realized that their choice would have been abortion and her route made them feel guilty?

Great observation.

At the same time, I always thought Barone had more c*jones than to back off when telling the truth. He was trying to repair his stature among the media but it cost him among those of us who value truth.
