Michael Barone: The media wishes Palin had aborted Trig

A botched joke, or so he claims. Lacking any obvious punchline, it’s “humor” in the same way that the left crying “satire!” whenever they cross the line makes that humor.
Wanting Palin to abort the baby? No. Fretting conspicuously that a woman with a baby might not be qualified to run for high office (hint hint, girls)? That theory was known to pop up now and again.
Barone said in an e-mail that he “was attempting to be humorous and … went over the line.”
Barone was speaking at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, to the 121st annual meeting of the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges, which calls itself the nation’s oldest higher-education association.
“The liberal media attacked Sarah Palin because she did not abort her Down syndrome baby,” Barone said, according to accounts by attendees. “They wanted her to kill that child. … I’m talking about my media colleagues with whom I’ve worked for 35 years.”…
About 500 people were in the room, and some walked out.
He redeemed himself by asking for a show of hands regarding which cable news networks the audience watched. Try to guess the breakdown, then click and scroll down to the end of the story.
As a bonus, here’s more vid from Lauer’s interview of mommy with her band of little career impediments.

I had no doubt that you still suffer under the delusion that you can tell everyone in this thread to shut up and call them indecent.

Liberal logic baffles the mind.
He should have been slaughtered by his mother because YOU do not like what he SAID?

Barone expressed a hard truth and should never have walked it back. Those media people who left the room are the types of Lefties who cover their ears and say, “La,la,la, I can’t hear you.”
In liberal-land, only perfect specimens are allowed to live. For the Left, Sarah Palin’s “sin” was not only not to abort Trig but also to produce five children. Libs don’t like big families, especially happy ones.
You cannot fake joy. The smiles and admiration that each member shares with the others are not just there for the camera. The Palins are a healthy, wholesome, attractive reflection of the American Dream. That video clip captures the essence of the Palins in their genuineness. They are loving, content, productive, and responsible.
(And darn it, that little Piper is a charming little pistol.)

O. M. G!
Did your sister ever call the police on those jerks?!?
This is WRONG!

Erm, I think it was tasteless, but…
Don’t be so sure about that. I’ve heard on tons of occasions that Palin was “stupid” and “naive” for continuing that pregnancy. Allah, you really need to start running your positions by Malkin.

I honestly believe that one of the major reasons that the media went after Palin with such vigor is because she did not abort her child. It is a reminder to too many women who did, that they killed their baby instead of giving it a chance at life. Mr. Barone veered into the truth and the media can’t handle it. It is time for all of us to stand by the truth and what is right. I am sorry that Mr. Barone is trying to explain away his statement.

Truth hurts.

Perhaps her statement about not seeking their good opinion had something to do with the media hatred. That statement endeared her to many of us but it did not endear her to those who believe their opinion is more valid than those of us ordinary folk. Such nerve to insinuate that the people of this nation and their opinion is more important than the political and media elite. God bless Sarah!

Barone made a totally valid statement which didn’t fly with the loony left. The only thing he did wrong was try to minimize what he said. It was “chicken” but probably wise to back off.

I think there is probably a lot of truth to what he said. Governor Palin represented the opposite of what they believe. Truth hurts, don’t it libs?

You are EXACTLY right on.

Excellent point.

Barone is right. It is what it is. I would bet a paycheck that views on Palin and abortion are tightly correlated. As an example, here is what Froma Harrop wrote in September:
The column gets ever more hateful as it goes on.

Barone is absolutely, unequivocally, unmistakably, 100% correct.
