Called my dad tonight and wished him a happy Veterans’ Day. He served on the USS Intrepid in ‘54 and ‘55 and got to see (on TV) President Bush speak from the deck of that great ship today. I was glad he got to see that. He said it brought back a lot of memories.

The picture in the video of the paratroopers preparing to jump on D-Day brought tears to my eyes. My dad, God rest his soul, was part of that mission (82nd Airborne).

Lest we forget our Native American vets: Gateway Pundit has a post on a Marine just back from Iraq receiving a Northern Cheyenne war bonnet from his tribe. Wonderful photos!

Funeral services over Arthur Thompson, whose remains arrived from France last Friday, were conducted by Rev. M. H. Hegge at the First Lutheran church Sunday afternoon.

It’s also Remembrance Day here in Canada. I just visited our small town’s cenotaph dedicated to those who served in World War 1, World War 2 and the Korean War.

Thank you to all those that have served and currently serve in both the United States and Canada.
