Video: President welcomes new pope to White House
posted at 3:00 pm on November 10, 2008 by Allahpundit
A tale of two approval ratings, mirror images of each other. Thus did the photo op come to pass, and thus were the airwaves filled with talking-head chatter about the miracle of orderly transfers of power.
Obama voter though he be, Hitchens is still clutching his naive skepticism that America’s enemies can’t simply be charmed out of their belligerence. Atheists.

Reason I ask is because I am – and it would be (to quote AP) just freaky-deaky to know a fellow poster so close by.

The Breitbart report noted that Obama presumptuously put his hand on the back of the president as they were moving towards the Oval office. Usually that’s a gesture by the host to direct the guest into an unfamiliar, i.e., the host’s, house.
Obama thinks he owns the place already.

It isn’t hard to have high approval ratings when you promise that the world’s problems will disappear at a rate exactly parallel to the speed at which you can rise to power.
…
Considering the extent to which he’ll be forced to under-deliver on his campaign promises, I’d say his approval rating will be there with Bush’s in no time.

too bad this ‘photo op’ didn’t take place 2 weeks ago… would have made for compelling attack ads about Obama palling around with GWB
gatorboy on November 10, 2008 at 3:16 PM
So, Laura Bush gave the First Dude-Elect Michelle Obama the grand tour today? Seems to me this must not have sat well for Michelle. She’s an angry woman with a metric ton of grievances to settle. I’d love to have heard her inner monologue during the tour. She’ll be the Jezebel-in-Chief and will make Hillary look like Florence Henderson. Mark me: she’ll embarrass Barak within the first 100 days with a statement or action.
sladenyv on November 10, 2008 at 3:16 PM
This is one case where Palin really did cost a vote but only to show the hypocricy of Hitchens. He voted against everything else he stands for because Palin was an Evangelical. Laura Ingram’s interview took away any other rationalization he could dream up.
BTW, Michelle Obama is one tall woman. She’s taller than Barack even.

true story: overheard while standing in line at coffee shop election morning (liberal NY East Village):
Customer:
“Large iced coffee please…”
Server (young, overweight A-American woman, pours coffee, hands cup to customer]:
Customer:(while holding small cup)
“That’s a large??”
[Flustered server, reluctant to admit her mistake, finally notes:
"Oh, no... sorry, do you want another?"
Customer:
"No, that's alright, I'll drink this one..."
[Server, as if to excuse herself...]
“I haven’t voted yet…’
oh well, THAT explains it, the server’s “I haven’t voted yet” was somehow intended by her to explain (and excuse) her inability to do her job correctly….
we’re through the looking glass here people…

This seems timely:
“But when they said, ‘Give us a king to lead us,’ this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. And the Lord told him: ‘Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do.’
Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who were asking him for a king. He said, ‘This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use. He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the Lord will not answer you in that day.’
But the people refused to listen to Samuel. ‘No!’ they said. ‘We want a king over us.’”

Maybe its time to start a Right Wing Hippee-like movement, kind of like the Left did during the 60’s. New slogan ideas:
Do not trust any Left Wing elitist!
Power to the Hard Working and Successful!
Truth and Integrity over Lies and Slime!
Down with the “Filtered Man’s Thinkers” of the Left.
What if they had Money Redistribution and nobody came?
Instead of “Banning the Bra” we would “Ban Thugocracy, Environmental Wackos & Liberal Propaganda.”
Instead of Drugs Sex and Rock ‘n Roll it would be Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Instead of tie-dyed shirts we will have Levi jackets; instead of rusty VW mini-vans we will have clean SUV’s. We will even shower every day….
We will be planning our own Million Man March on Washington, DC to protest the upcoming plans of the new administration to “Sock-it-to the Wealthy” with their “Steal from the Hard-Working” programs. Their “Potato in Every Pot and Hand in Every Pocket” plan is just going too far. Instead of the ceremonial burning of the American Flag we will be burning the works of Karl Marx instead. Everyone is encouraged to bring a copy for the burning. For those having difficulty locating a copy of the Communist Manifesto they might try their local library; I understand that each library has at least 15 or 20 that were placed their by the DNC. Just remember to bring back the ashes so you wont be charged for losing a book. You will have reduced it to its lowest common denominator so there should be no charges. See you in Washington….
