Open thread: Palin and Greta on leaks and the election

posted at 9:00 pm on November 10, 2008 by Allahpundit

10 p.m. ET on Fox, her first interview since election night. Expectations that anything noteworthy will come of it are near nil, but we’re staring down the barrel of a 10-week news lull so let’s seize a rare opportunity for an open thread while we can. There’s no way she’s going to name names on the leakers but we might get a little generic “jerks” rhetoric out of her. Or, for maximum drama, a wistful lament that Maverick hasn’t rushed to her defense as fast as he might have.

Wait, did I say this is her first interview since the election? You’re a day late, Greta. Click the image to watch.

Update: I spoke too soon: The media’s relentless effort to inflate her rudimentary expressions of faith into some sort of fundie lunacy has led AFP to pronounce this a very noteworthy interview indeed. Exit question: Did you know that Sarah Palin won’t appear publicly with people who are pro-choice? I read it in Newsweek so it must be true.

Ok folks heres the bottom line once and for all. Sarah is never going to be a credible candidate to the media who sadly influence a majority of dolts who vote in this country unless she not only becomes pro choice but also demands that her daughter terminates her pregnacy. As sad as it is to say the media will blast this woman and continue to vet her on everything she says or rumor they hear about her until she drops out of politics or stays in Alaska. Until more Americans sit down and study issues and stop listening to the blowhards who give us our news either through print or over the Air we are doomed. It is more fashionable to say men should marry men than to say your pro life and until we get that changed we will be stuck with idiots voting in the supposed cool candidates like Our Lord ad Savior Barak Jesus Christ or Allah Obama.

Irvin88 on November 10, 2008 at 9:56 PM

Women who are strongly pro abortion are cheapened as mothers. When I look at Mrs. Obama, I don’t see a wonderful mother because I know that if those girls had been conceived at an inconvenient time in her life she would have killed them.

And had Barack’s mother lived during the Roe v. Wade time period, who is to say that she would have murdered him?

carbon_footprint on November 10, 2008 at 10:00 PM

I’ve decided I have a girl crush on her, and me…a staunchly straight female. Have traversed other sights where the feminists have just denegrated this marvelous, accomplished woman. I have my Masters degree, gave up a 6 figure income to start my own business (struggling, but happy). Was raised by two depression babies (I’m an orphan now)who were both college-educated in an era where that was the exception rather than the rule. I have two grown sons who are also quite, quite conservative, and they too think “Sarah is the bomb.”
I applaude the CHOICE she made to have her special needs child, and I applaude the way she supported her daughter’s CHOICE (ahem, we are pro-CHOICE, right????)to have her child.
Yes, Bristol has a hard row-to-hoe, so to speak. But watching her holding her baby brother Trig makes it a very small leap for me to believe that the choice to have her child was hers, not something forced upon her by her parents, so get over it you feminists. I think she knows it’s going to be tough for her and her young man, but is willng to at least try to make a go of this marriage. I appluade her, again.
Philosophically, I also think Gov. Palin is very, very thoughtful and I love her very conservative stands on so many issues.
I’m so sick of the people–not on this site, but on others–who call her a liar, an idiot, who look down their noses at her syntax (I say “You betcha’” and drop my g’s all the time, and have never been lambasted like she has, but I can remember once I called a room full of clients based in San Francisco “folks” and was almost fired from the account.)
I think she’s awesome, and I haven’t even seen Greta’s interview yet.

Chewy the Lab on November 10, 2008 at 10:00 PM

Personally, I don’t think there IS a “moderate” view on abortion. It’s either murder or it’s not. However, I’m open to a different opinion.

SouthernGent on November 10, 2008 at 9:38 PM

I did some research on this in grad school. Contrary to what we hear in the media pro-life support outweighs pro-choice. There also appears to be a trend that younger age groups are increasingly pro-life, so the trend appears to be a growing one. Most importantly, views on abortion are value driven. It is very unlikely if not impossible for a pro-life person to become pro-choice. Pro-choice people can and do change to a pro-life position though. The problem is that not all voters see it as a primary issue when voting.

msmveritas on November 10, 2008 at 10:01 PM

I actually think there are different levels of support on abortion. Some people don’t want abortion under ANY circumstance. Some are against abortion but are open to have an exception for example in instances of real health concerns of the mother, rape, etc. Some people who support abortion rights don’t mind regulations on partial birth abortion or support parent notification for a minor. Then there are some who don’t want ANY regulation on abortion at all.

That is such a fantastic way of looking at it. Someone close to me had one, and has always regretted it since. I don’t know how women can have one then REMAIN strongly pro abortion. I’ve only met women or girls who just hate what they did and wouldn’t do it again if they had the chance.

Abortion isnt the only cause on the right. The whole problem is that we have made it part of the court system.

Id rather conservatives offer a real choice to women (instead of the phoney “Choice” the left proclaims)

That real choice would be to increase the earning power of women. That is what really causes Abortion. If women on average were more successful Abortions would fall. Most Abortions are placed on poor minorities who cant afford to keep their child. That is the sad reality of Abortion is that its really the white Liberals plans to keep minorities in check via abortion and welfare.

I think when women see exactly what it is (murder), their minds change.

Most have this somewhat bloodless conception of what abortion is.

Show them the gritty

Chewy, Terry Ann is NOT a miserable piece of slime. She is a very prolific and sane commenter here. I agree with you that her reaction to this comment is odd. She is a good person though.

carbon_footprint on November 10, 2008 at 10:21 PM

Perhaps I misunderstood, and would certainly apologize. It seemed (to me) the comment was something to the effect that anyone who opposes the CHOICE for life is deluded.
I stand corrected.

Got my vote…And when you really think about how accurate that seemingly simple analysis is ….WOW!!

I think the genius is that it puts perspective upon the unborn. Look at the Obama’s girls: they are certainly beautiful, vibrant little girls. Look at their parents’ tenets on abortion. They would have actually snuffed out those beautiful lives if the timing would have been different. Powerful stuff.

And those scumbags are the ones who want everyone to “make up” now. F them.

WisCon on November 10, 2008 at 10:28 PM

My thoughts exactly. Anyone that makes up to these children on the left are imbeciles. They threw a temper tantrum for 8 freaking years and now what us to forget it. no way. Ohitler is not my president and never will be.

I’m watching Greta’s interview.

You can bet the O-man has got people watching and scheming now on how to bring her down.

And, you can bet there are GOP people doing the same thing.

This is Alaska (Palin vs. GOP/Dem) all over again at the national level.

Sapwolf on November 10, 2008 at 10:31 PM

Wow. I’m pro-life but some of the harsh words hear might actually make reconsider my position. Sigh.

terryannonline on November 10, 2008 at 10:21 PM

Really? Why would you reconsider your position?
