But if no candidate gets 270 Electoral votes, it goes to the House of Representatives, where each State gets ONE vote… which can only be cast for the top 3 Electoral vote getters….

Thing is that even though there are more Dems in the House, I don’t think they control more States than the Repubs… so if it gets there it really gets interesting.

Romeo13 on November 9, 2008 at 12:02 AM

So would get more votes: McCain, Biden, or Palin? (They could nominate anyone, I suppose)

There is no doubting that Barack Obama is the perfect man…

I read this article and all I want to know is … er … is this for real? This lady is just, plain insane. And proud of it, too, evidently.

“He facilely insulted Nancy Reagan because in every place he’s ever been, up till that moment, that would’ve been a perfectly hilarious response. For all his supposed cosmopolitanism I find him disturbingly provincial.”

Exactly, Gilda. That was my first thought as well. I know lots of people like that. They’ve never talked to anyone different from them. They think the whole world is full of xeroxes of themselves!

And yes, a thousand yes’s, Barack Obama is my president and our president.

If you don’t like the results of the election, you can leave.

Same rule applies as with Alec Baldwin and the lefties in 2004.

SteveMG on November 8, 2008 at 10:37 PM

He is not my president. My president is named George W. Bush. Maybe you’ve heard of him.

When Obama is inaugurated, he will be the president, and therefore due some minimal levels of respect. But until then, in spite of his own opinions, he is NOT the president.

Regardless. there is absolutely nothing wrong with opposing him politically and being critical of every mistake.

I actually hope he does well, because our country needs him to do well. And, ironically, we may be looking to him to rein in a reckless Democratic congress.

I’m willing to judge him by his future actions. But I expect he’ll veer far left, and, if so, those who love our country will have to fight against him to keep the country from being ruined.

I don’t know what’s snapped in these folks, but I really thought the article was a joke – at the beginning. And then it became clear how deranged this lady was. The 1960’s retrospective has gone global, built on a foundation of some very weak minds and severely damaged personalities. Great.

I am still just trying to get to the place where I can watch the news and actually listen to Obama speak. Right now, it makes me queasy. I am not kidding, I have an honest to God physical aversion to the man.

And, I am not a racist.

It is interesting to see how all of a sudden there is supposed to be respect for the office, now that one of their own has won it. I guess when he leaves office they will all revert to flag burning.

Phoenician:

Considering the fact that the Russians have made it plain that the only thing that will avoid a crisis is for us to pull out the missile defense shield, what is there to talk about?

That is something I have wondered about. The US has made a commitment to our allies in eastern Europe. Will we keep it?

I have to wonder how wonderful Obama will look in a year.

ProfessorMiao on November 9, 2008 at 8:09 AM

Terrye,

As far as I understand, Russia is reacting to the US move of putting missiles in Poland. The US is claiming it’s not against Russia, though I don’t know why Russia should believe that. On the other hand, Obama has already said that he’ll only put missiles there if they don’t threaten Russia. The question is what the US interests are.

I wish people would stop injecting statements like “I’m not racist,” into their comments. That’s about one step down from “I have lots of black friends.”

If the ideas, opinions, and feelings you express incite someone to label you racist, then you’re not going to convince them otherwise. The rest of us don’t need to be convinced that you’re not a bigot.

So, please, stop.

I understand where you’re coming from, but the Democrats have pretty much succeeded in creating a new meme in which any criticism of Obama is raaaaaacist. But I agree with you, if what you mean is that we have to reject that meme.

Barry O as the perfect man?

Funny.

Keep building that pedestal higher and higher, Obama-idiots. It’s going to make watching his inevitable fall from it that much harder on you (and that much more satisfying for the rest of us).

AZCoyote on November 9, 2008 at 9:06 AM

I’ve got a very serious question for Katy Guest:

How do you get people to pay you to print stuff like that?

progressoverpeace on November 9, 2008 at 9:12 AM

That’s exactly what I mean. It’s a given that any nay-saying to The One will be labeled as racist, but those of us who didn’t drink the kool-aid shouldn’t lower ourselves with such comments. Samuel Adams wrote that allegiance should be given to laws, not leaders. I agree. I will not support Barack Obama. I will not feign politeness wen his name is brought up. I will bust my hump to help enact legislation that is good for America, not just good for Obama and the far left.

This man is a Chicago hollow suit that has done NOTHING except to continually run for higher office. Well Barack, you’ve reached the peak. You can’t vote ‘present’ anymore. Presidents make decisions, and I am scared of the decisions you will actually make.

I will give the new president as much respeect as Letterman, Maher and Kos gave GWB.

theboss on November 9, 2008 at 9:51 AM

Well, liberals always keep a suply of flags around, anyway – in case they get a hankerin’ to burn one – so it’s just as easy to store them on display. Besides, they can just pull them down and burn them just as easily … and the contrast of ripping the flag off of a display to burn it (instead of merely taking it out of its wrapping) just makes it that much more fun to the retards.

hugh h. was all over this on friday’s show — “he has no choice but to back down from at least some of his crazy rhetoric because he now realizes just how dangerous the world is and that his primary job, which he just may be grasping, is to protect the american people

/we can only hope

Buckaroo on November 8, 2008 at 10:53 PM

I’m a bit late posting on this thread, but I had to comment anyway. Buckaroo is correct in stating the POTUS job’s first priority is to protect the union and its people, something Slick Willy failed miserably at!

While Obama is being enlightened as to the myriad of dangerous threats we face I have serious doubts about his agenda and motivations. His primary job (protecting the union and its people) as we mentioned previously is his most important job, but that is assuming he wants to protect America.

IMHO the only entity that truly vetted Obama was the right blogosphere, we know the MSM didn’t, as they were a bought and paid for mouthpiece for Obama. With that said the things the right blogosphere uncovered about THE ONE was more than enough to give anyone with half a brain pause and concern about electing this man.

Because the MSM didn’t vet Obama there are many more unknowns than known regarding Obama, yet what we do know is he has numerous radical associations and has very far left socialist views, ideology, and agenda.

I have heard in this thread, on other threads, and in conversations in general about the signs of “the end of times” and while I’m by no means a particularly religious man nor do I take every word in the bible literally what I see happening around the world and the fact some in America just elected a man we know little about does give me pause for extreme concern.

Some in this nation elected a personality, a pop-icon, they voted on flash and not substance, a person that speaks well and is charismatic, but again someone we know very little about and that is very concerning.

If Revelations in the bible is to be believed then Obama may be the charismatic leader foretold in the bible who at first will seem to be uniting the people and will bring peace and stability, but according to the bible he is hiding his true agenda and ideology and when he makes it know what is true agenda and ideology is and who he really represents it will be too late for us and he will usher in the “end of times.”

Again, this is assuming the bible is correct, and as I said I’m not a particularly religious person but even I can’t ignore the events of the past 10 years culminating in electing a “charismatic leader” we know very little about as POTUS.

Ironic and a bit disturbing if you think about it and put everything together. I had always thought this charismatic leader would rise out of the East, but if you’re the “anti-Christ” (and I’m not saying Obama is, although I have heard many intimate he is) then where would you want to gain power in order to bring on the end times? Surely you wouldn’t want to rise to power in some 3rd world nation, no, you’d want to rise to power in the most powerful nation in the world, and that nation as we all know is the USA.

If Obama is this “charismatic leader” that will fool those that supported him he is now in the position needed to not only destroy our nation from within but he also has the power to weaken us so that we cannot protect ourselves from our external enemies.

Again I’m not saying Obama is the “anti-Christ” and I’m not building a bunker in anticipation of the “end of times” but I am however going to be keeping a close eye and ear on what this man does in his presidency.

As many others have said, “gird your loins” as it looks like there’s a “bad moon rising” and trouble up ahead!

I feel the same way. I am agnostic. But do look in the Bible here and there. It does co inside with events that did happen.

If Obama’s willing to sell out Iraq after thousands of deaths and hundreds of billions of treasure, you can be sure he’d be willing to sell out Poland, Czech Republic, Eastern Europe, Ukraine and Georgia, as well. He can do it under cover of the Democrat Congress’ cut of 25 percent of the defense budget. He tried, he really tried to get Nancy and Harry not to cut that deeply, but there was only so much the Obamessiah could do. Ergo, we couldn’t afford missile defense, and hey Russia’s not such a bad country to be a vassal state to.
