Code Pink will probably desist from criticizing the war, now that it belongs to Obama. The terrorists, not so much.

You say that like they're two distinct groups. Terrorism is terrorism no matter how it is manifested.

Actually, Iraq will be allright. Iraq becomes one of the riches nations in history before the antichrist turns on it. The antichrist destroys it(in just one day) during the coming tribulation period.

So that’s at least one thing Obama will not screw up.

Carter's weakness 30 years prompted the hostage-taking and almost cost lives.

Obama's weakness today will cost lives. And his weakness will lead to conflicts that will necessitate reinstating the draft. Then, we'll see how popular Obama is with the two-thirds of voters age 19 to 29 who voted for him. Welcome to the real world boys and girls.

I can not remember the last time I even heard a story about Iraq on the news. I think Obama would probably like to keep it that way. If he pulls out now all of a sudden and things get bad, it won't look good for him. He will try to blame it on Bush, but once he is president that will get harder and harder to do.

A collapse in Iraq following a forced withdrawal by Obama would make him look incompetent and impetuous, and could force us to return to Iraq and take casualties we could have avoided by following the current Bush plan instead. He can’t risk starting his presidency with that kind of disaster.

I can't understand everyone's doubt that he will withdraw from Iraq. I don't have any doubt that he will withdraw our troops as fast as possible. Any consequences will be blamed on Bush for starting the Iraq war in the first place. The media will go along claiming victory in Iraq was just a myth and was never within reach. How can anyone who has been watching the left for the last 8 years doubt this?

On Iraq, I think both terrorists and Code Pink will have to deal with some disappointment.

This prediction sounds a lot like the same wishful thinking that Barry will rule and reign from the center. You hope that he will be like Duval Patrick.

look incompetent and impetuous

imperious is the "look" of choice for this administration. don't assume that evidence of incompetence will give rise to the "look" of incompetence. Only hope would drive me to believe that the imperious mien is only a facade.

AQI and the other insurgencies are all but destroyed

I highly doubt that.

In a nutshell, I think the most likely scenario is that AQI realized they did not have a fighting chance against U.S. forces and U.S. technology/equipment, and the U.S. was never going to cut and run. They realized that the U.S. was going to have a new POTUS in the short-term. The AQ leaders are fairly savvy and I think they also realized early on that Barack Obama stood a real chance of winning the election. Obama would be their unwitting allie given all the campaign promises and expectations of those willing to elect Obama... the priority being to get out of Iraq. AQI also knows that Congress already has a Defeatocrat majority and that more Defeatocrats were going to join them. As time marched on during the POTUS campaign, they saw that Obama was most likely to prevail, and AQI really hunkered down.

AQI pulled a tactical retreat. Much of AQI slinked back into the shadows with some living in Iraq as regular citizens by day while plotting and executing small hit & runs by night to keep the Iraqi's on edge. The rest of AQI is in Syria and Lebanon and Iran and the rest of the nearby Arab countries just waiting for Obama and the Defeatocrats to pull us out of Iraq and down-size our military and down-size our Middle East presence. Plus, they know they have an endless supply of future generations of genocidal and suicidal Islamic fundamentalists waiting to be tapped into.

They're not "all but destroyed", they're training and reorganizing and recruiting and just biding their time.

AQ and AQI is simply waiting for their secret weapon to blossom fully and start bearing fruit in the Whitehouse.

AQI and Code Pink should pay attention to the news. We are leaving. We're down to 5 provinces. We pull brigades and don't replace them.

Sheesh, you'd think these guys won't be happy until we have a fall of <strike>Saigon</strike> Baghdad. Oh, right.

At least they could own up to our dwindling numbers and 13 independent provinces.

The war is going extremely well. You’d never know it from the defeatist surrender talk of Obama and the cut and run surrender monkey democrats and their fifth-columnist uber left-wing media allies, but the fact is that the Iraq War has been and is a roaring success by every meaningful standard. I often listen to a radio program to which active-duty service personnel frequently call in, and I can tell you that the optimism, confidence and morale that I hear in their voices truly is sky high.

The only one recurring sour note comes from the realization that if not for the aid and comfort provided to the Al-Qaeda terrorists in Iraq by the America-hating liberals and democrats in this country, our boys job would likely at this point be all but finished, ready to hand things off to the Iraqi army, the Iraqi police and the Iraqi government, and all set to board those ships and planes for their eagerly awaited trip home.

When I think of the needless deaths and suffering our boys have had to endure as a direct result of the machinations of the democrats who want to surrender just as soon as they can, it is very, very difficult for me to contain the intense anger and outrage I feel. In fact, I’m all set to volunteer as an interrogator at Guantanamo - just so long as I’m permitted to take acouple of plane loads of democrats down there with me.

By the time the general election rolled around, Iraq stopped being a major issue, and for good reason. We’ve won the war, and we’ve finally won the peace. Regardless of which candidate got elected, the policy in the next administration is likely to be the same despite Obama’s rhetoric during the primaries.

I can accept that O! will not stick to his time-table, the man's an incompetent doofus, but I do not share your confidence that "the policy in the next administrations is likely to be the same." I think a lot of the adults will not want to work for him so we'll get guys like Wesley Clark in there throwing their weight around.

I really feel for our service people. What a disaster letting this anti-American leftist take power.

Be prepared for the history of the Iraq war to be rewritten. Obama has won the war, and the love of his Muslim brothers.

The left will embrace Iraq as their own, and how they achieved victory with Murtha, Pelosi and Reid in charge.

Believe it.

By the time the general election rolled around, Iraq stopped being a major issue, and for good reason. We’ve won the war, and we’ve finally won the peace.

What's this "we" stuff?

The troops under the great leadership of Gen. Petrayus won the war and the peace.

The Iraqi people fighting against the insurgents won the war and the peace.

People like Sen. McCain and Sen. Lieberman won the war and the peace for backing the President.

And PRESIDENT BUSH won the war and the peace by not backing down when every "wise" pundit wanted him to throw in the towel. THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH!!!!!

As for the Dems. They, aside from a few exceptions, did NOTHING. They did worse than nothing. They tried to sabotage the effort every turn and contributed only bile and scorn.

If I hear any Dem talking about how "we" won the war and the peace I'm going to stick my boot so far up his ass that I'll be able to tie the laces by simply asking him to open his mouth.
