The results of her “search” along with many interviews with folks that have a beef with Joe were in the press by 9:00 AM Central time, Oct 16 2008.

That’s ONE BUSY NIGHT for a government employee and the news media or they’re lying, and the “investigation” along with the interviews days before the debate.

Like most public employees, police chiefs are usually members of public employees’ unions and predictably tilt towards the Democrats.

Here in the Detroit area, one of the suburban police departments worked hard to unseat their mayor and replace her with the PD’s hand picked friend (who will have the job of negotiating a contract with the PD – nothing to see here, move it along). When a local tv news crew looked into it and discovered prima facie evidence of violations of laws concerning campaign finance and use of public facilities for political purposes the police chief smirked to the camera about being “innocent until proven guilty”.

At least the police chief in Sons Of Anarchy on FX admits he’s corrupt.

He calls himself black. I think that’s quite enough. We determine, ourselves, which ethnicity or race out of our personal melting pots we choose to assert. Short sighted, but true. If he’d called himself white, you’d probably be saying he must call himself black. Them’s rotton apples.

To put it bluntly, his race doesn’t matter, but his politics and actions do matter. I would recommend that you cease this kind of speech, because it is not the sort of mustard seed which will grow well here.

I’m not a big O’Reilly fan, but he asks a great question here: Where is the ACLU?

The Executive Director of the Ohio ACLU is on the record saying the issue “raises questions.” It would be interesting for Joe the Plumber to formally ask them to intervene. If the ACLU does intervene, that’s free legal representation for Joe. If they refuse to help him — well that would raise a whole different set of questions.

As Tom Jackson points out, ACLU membership costs $20 bucks, which is the price of, like, 30 feet of schedule 40 PVC pipes at Home Depot. Probably worth a try.
