I dunno what more 'investigation' is required. But since she's undoubtedly a member of the left-wing NEA, "appropriate action" probably means <em>a stern memo</em> -- but only after her shop steward approves the wording. Wouldn't want to damage <em>her</em> self-esteem, would we?

I homeschooled my son for kindergarten due to not making it in time for the local private school (a waiting list a mile long). This year he is attending the private. Public schools in my area are so underfunded and have lots of issues with small town politics for me to trust my son's education with them.

As a teacher in a military post, I was a bit appalled by the teacher in the original clip claiming she was presenting both sides of the issues. Military kids are a bit fragile especially when their parent is overseas. My congrats to the administrator for trying to nip it in the bud as quick as possible. Hopefully teacher unions will leave him alone and other administrators will use this as an example to future teachers.

Now that she is "suddenly famous", shouldn't we be getting a report on whether she is late on child support, or if she has a tax lien?

What's good for the plumber, is good for the teacher.

One, C-SPAN put sunlight on the workings of the Halls of Congress to provide some transparency to the process.

Two, almost all US public schools are wired to the internet to provide students a valuable information resource for learning.

Why not go the next step and demand the installation of web cams in all the classrooms that will stream live video to the net so that parents can actually see what type of indoctrination and intimidation is occurring in our public schools?

How many here belief that these types of repulsive tactics are not being used by other agenda-centric teachers across the nation. The look of defenselessness on that child face when an authority figure using the imprimatur of the state educational system was heart-breaking.

This type of insidious behavior needs to be monitored and weeded out.

Shameful and disgusting!

I don't think it can be stressed enough how effective emailing your complaints are. Based on a link provided from another HotAir comment, I emailed the wrong city council about this episode. I got a response from the deputy mayor as well as the mayor within a few hours explaining that the teacher was not employed in their district-but our emails still did some good for the kids in N. Carolina. You can bet that this episode will result in a wholesale reminding for all local administrators and teachers that this sort of thing is unacceptable. They may have a liberal agenda, but that's nothing compared to their agenda of self-preservation.

So in the time it takes to write an indignant comment here, you can put that time to really effective use by lodging a complaint on whatever matter is driving you nuts. I did it for the Tyson Foods Labor Day/Rahmadan Day fiasco and I got an email response a week later from Tyson stating how they resolved the issue. It's a great way to fight back.

Ok, don't mean to lecture here.

As a teacher, I discussed the campaign and election several times with my kids. We did one lesson where we analyzed several commercials (one positive, one negative for each candidate) and we also did a lesson on the electoral college, which we checked back on several times to see how the map had changed. While my classroom was very pro-McCain, I cautioned the students about how they voiced their support. (Disagree with positions, don't call names) I also pointed out how it might feel to be supporting an unpopular candidate when the rest of the class is so vocally against you. The kids were constantly asking me who I was going to vote for. I told them that the fact they couldn't figure out my political leanings let me know I was doing a good job of educating them about our political system. That teacher in the video is doing no service to her children.

A LOT of military families home school because of this type of crap. The public school system has failed. And yes, Obama will see to it that home school is no longer an option so everyone can attend the failing public schools and be properly brainwashed.

We are outnumbered by people who don't give a crap, so we have some heavy lifting to do.

I'd like to know how well these students would perform on a test covering the basics of our government and political structure. Matters like the three branches of gov't and what their responsibilities are, how our tax code is structured, the difference between state and federal power, the election process, the fundamental differences between the two parties, the difference between private business and gov't run entities, etc. Until these basics are well known, any "opinion" they may form is premature and superficial at best (as their "discussion" clearly showed).

I was asked to discuss the candidates with my <em>kindergartener</em> and have him choose one and make a campaign poster for him. How the hell do you discuss fiscal conservatism with a 5-year-old? I think it was just the school's way of determining the political leanings of the parents of the student body. I live in Hawaii so my son was definitely in the minority with his McCain sign.

<blockquote> Almost instantly (within 3 minutes) the students who were going to lose points started talking about how they would not study either and make a bad grade as well... Almost unanimously the class said that it didn’t maatter with the tax money because “rich people” won’t notich it anyway.

Ha, how quickly they learn, but it also shows you they'll keep it up if they think they can inflict it on someone else without cost to themselves.

It reminds me of those Obamatons who didn't get paid. The were in a long line braying things like "I want <strong>my</strong> money." Huh?

California passed a mental health tax on millionaires and it didn't work. California is just as liberal as ever.

<blockquote>Yeah but most people don’t use it enough. Just because this guy did doesn’t mean we can get all our messages out to the entire population. Especially busy working people who don’t have hours to waste on the internet and get all their news propaganda from cnn.

I thought there was an importance in the "youth vote". Youth are internet savvy and are not reading print or watching actual TV. They are watching clips and reading blogs.

Most of my clients in the 40+ range read the local paper on the internet now and pass around links frequently. They talk about dumb videos they watch on YouTube.

Since FOX news seems to be going down the toilet (not that it was ever a great venue for getting the "message" out or educating), the internet and talk radio seem to be the only venues left. Obama and Ron Paul knew how to work the internet very well. Obama dominated YouTube and it worked with the youth vote, and Paul did for a while. Hillary seemed to have the right idea with her online videos and Newt Gingrich has great ideas on the topic. Thompson was putting some good stuff out for a while.

I think that Republicans not realizing the potential for this and are still whining about CNN, are kind of like people that are still investing in BlueRay tech when digital downloads will kill it completely.

Expose (not whine about) and denounce the liberal media hordes and dominate them with tech they can't control!!!

I know this is somewhat off topic but I had to share with everyone a little experiment that I ran in two of my classes this week. The school I teach at has an enrollment of 80% minority students and every student qualifies for free lunches. Needless to say, the student body is very pro-Obama. This past Tuesday I gave my physical science classes a test and went over their grades on the test yesterday. I told the classes that I was instituting a new grading policy in which I was going to take points from the students who had worked hard and achieved a good grade and distribute those points to the students who had not prepared for the test.
Sadly, I got two different responses that left me depressed. The first class is a lower level class and after some initial complaining from the students who would lose points the class overall accepted the new grading policy. The second class is a higher level class and they were much more argumentative. A few students who were going to receive the points started talking trash about how other kids would get their points for them. Almost instantly (within 3 minutes) the students who were going to lose points started talking about how they would not study either and make a bad grade as well. I ended the arguments by telling the kids that I would not be doing this and was just trying to prove a point about our new economic direction. Almost unanimously the class said that it didn't maatter with the tax money because "rich people" won't notich it anyway.

It's time to break the spine of the NEA and the indoctrination in education starting with elementary, junior and senior high schools.
Then on to colleges and universities.
There is SO much fruit to be harvested in the past few weeks.
And this teacher had better be fired for child abuse or child harassment in the least. I also heard that it was found only on a Finnish media broadcast.
Ya know, if I abuse my second amendment rights, I lose them.
I think it's high time that the press suffer the same consequences.

Thanks Freddie & Sheof...Living in MA is definately hostile territory. Perhaps this is our preparation for a conservative revival in the future. But it will take a long time to drain these swamps. Until then we soldier on.

I feel for you and your son. Hope this proves to be an opportunity for him to develop discernment regarding messages from the school system.

Rumor about a (now retired) teacher in our town: He used to tell his second grade class, "Now you go home and tell your parents that Bush is a bad man." This guy is now on the school board.

His wife was the school nurse and the union representative. When I chose to buy my liability insurance from a non-NEA source, she repeatedly told me that I would not be able to get legal representation if anything happened. I resisted her attempts to intimidate me. (The year I left that school, I read in the district newsletter that they had 100% union membership. I guess she was successful at scaring everyone else to join the NEA.)

Your story breaks my heart. It's child abuse. Don't think I was that strong at 12. You might consider moving to another state. I saw people cheering Barney Frank at a debate. They would've cheered if he told them an army of his pals was coming in to rape them all. MA is the land of H.P. Lovecraft. I am truly sorry for your predicament.

Our children are under siege.

-
This latest video of the little girl in North Carolina made me cry. I live in eastern, MA (I dare not say where lest my town dealings become "inconvenient”.) My son is 12 and has recently been labeled a “racist” by several of his classmates. A couple of weeks ago his social studies teacher asked everyone to make a campaign poster. 19 out or 20 kids chose Obama posters. My kid was odd man out.
-
3 boys in the class told him he was a racist for not choosing Obama. My son told them he chose McCain only because nobody else did. Even at age 12 he knows that he can’t say he chose McCain because he likes his ideas better. They'd just tell him he was stupid and wrong - especially since the teacher regularly tells them that George Bush is “stupid” and “the worst president ever.”

-
I told the teacher what happened(being careful not to sound too much like a conservative)and asked that he explain racism to the class. As you can probably guess his examples were whites discriminating against blacks in the 1960’s and whites discriminating against Japanese Americans during WWII. So I have no idea if these kids made the connection.
-
The liberal indoctrination/education system is working. This area used to have a small but strong conservative base. This year you could not defend the republican on issues or ideology; as soon as you said anything besides Hope, Change, Obama, you were racist.
-
I know that my child will be judged and graded more harshly than others if he maintains his conservative principles. It was that way for me growing up but it seems so much more vicious now. Ultimately, he’ll have to choose the easy way or the right way, according to his conscience.
-
My son knows that it doesn’t matter what a candidate looks like or where they’re from - what matters is how they will govern this country. It is a crime that this is happening to our sweet, innocent children who come to school with no biases and leave broken and jaded.

<em>Sorry to be so long winded but I needed to vent in a friendly environment</em>

Thanks for the link, but not for making my blood boil. ;-)

That woman is a monster. It bugged me that this was going on in one of my local high schools. I found out that it's also going on in middle and elementary schools -- everywhere it seems. My nephews both voted, but not the same, interestingly enough. This is sick. Those leftist turds have politicized everything.

I work in the Cumberland County school district. Dr. Harrison is a stand-up guy, and I will trust him on this matter. We have Ft. Bragg here, and way too many military parents for him to put up with that sort of nonsense.

Dr. Harrison's been the superintendent here since before I was in Kindergarden. lol
I live in Fayetteville. I wish I could say I was privy to something but I've never even heard of the school where this happened.
