Video: Violence erupts between Bush aide, reporter

posted at 7:20 pm on November 6, 2008 by Allahpundit

After eight years, the tension finally boils over. I went with MSNBC’s clip because of the silent slo-mo, but if you want to hear the audio — and you do — try the Tribune.

Sad to say, I think the little guy started it. Turns out the Bushies are as vicious as the media claimed.

Hah – had to stare at the pic a minute to figure out what I was looking at.

Get ‘em, Barney!

tetnis shot? antibiotics? what a wimp.

lorien1973 on November 6, 2008 at 7:23 PM

It’s about time someone fights back. At least Barney wants to leave a good legacy. I just hope he don’t bite the new puppy of Michelle’s kids. No doubt, they will call Barney a racist!

tdavisjr on November 6, 2008 at 7:23 PM

Barney knows who you work for.

Antibiotics? Try hot water and an alcohol swab, you pansy.

BadgerHawk on November 6, 2008 at 7:24 PM

Will we get a special comment out of this?

Mark1971 on November 6, 2008 at 7:24 PM

Good dog.

I mean its Al-Reuters, can you blame Barney.

I would have bitten the guy too. :)

Lance Murdock on November 6, 2008 at 7:26 PM

I didn’t know that Bush has a dog named Barney. When I first heard about this, I thought that Barney Frank bit a reporter.

keep the change on November 6, 2008 at 7:26 PM

Good dog. Gooooood dog. Of course, that little nip is nothing compared to the mauling CyberCipher’s dog would bring.

Weight of Glory on November 6, 2008 at 7:26 PM

You are supposed to approach the dog, the Messiah with your palms down and eyes down, genuflecting about 20 times per minute.

Sergei on November 6, 2008 at 7:27 PM

I didn’t know that Bush has a dog named Barney. When I first heard about this, I thought that Barney Frank bit a reporter.

Which would be impossible, I now realize, since Barney Frank hasn’t been seen with his dentures in public in ages.

keep the change on November 6, 2008 at 7:27 PM

Doing what Bush should have been doing long ago. He’s been far too complacent with how they treat him.

lorien1973 on November 6, 2008 at 7:28 PM

I’m really upset to hear that Barney bit a reporter.

I hope that he was seen promptly by a medical professional, and given any necessary treatment, such as antibiotics.

No, not the reporter, I mean Barney… you never know what kind of filth and disease a member of the media might be carrying.

malclave on November 6, 2008 at 7:28 PM

They said there would be violent riots after the election, and they were right.

I am happy that it wasn’t Olberman that got bitten. Poor Barney would have to go through a long painful course of anti-rabies shots.

drewas on November 6, 2008 at 7:29 PM

Heh, I noticed how Barney really seemed to perk up after that. MMmmmmm, reporter tastes good to dogs apparently.

Good boy, Barney.
Too bad the Bush family wasn’t partial to bigger dogs – like, say, Rottweilers.

He’s a black dog though, so it’s ok.

nickj116 on November 6, 2008 at 7:37 PM

That dog would be a great candidate for the GOP’s new inclusion strategy. She’s black, female and obviously has good judgment. However, I’m sure many will think she is a bitch. Is there any way to get that dog over to Chris Matthews’ studio?

flyoverland on November 6, 2008 at 7:37 PM

Barney for Secretary of Defense! Well, he is black.

RedWinged Blackbird on November 6, 2008 at 7:37 PM

Only news I heard is the the Obamas are planning to get a prop puppy?

They might as well get nine of them, and train them in the loft.

RushBaby on November 6, 2008 at 7:38 PM

A couplet in honor of The Scottish Terrier:

Barney’s got more cojones than the entire GOP.
Obama looks a lot like haggis to me.

profitsbeard on November 6, 2008 at 7:39 PM

I’ve got a Westie, and even knowing me, he does not like to be petted on the head. If I go to pet him on the head, he pulls back to avoid my hand.

This dumbass reporter has no clue on how to approach a dog, much less a terrier. But then most reporters have their heads up their butts anyway.

Mallard T. Drake on November 6, 2008 at 7:40 PM

What a PANSY A**, I’ve been bitten by a Pit Bull and a Blue Heeler during a dog fight. Unfortunately had surgery three weeks later, but no dam* tetanus shot.

joesamas mama on November 6, 2008 at 7:41 PM

Barney in 2012!

Sad it takes the first pooch to let the MSM know how many of us feel about them right about now..
Wonder if we can send him a case of LivaSnaps as a reward?

UncleOlaf on November 6, 2008 at 7:41 PM

From the autobiography of the greatest Marine Aviator, Gregory “Pappy” Boyington. Boyington had a collie that stayed at the squadron while his old man was flying. One day Boyington’s reporting senior showed up to give him his fitness report. The collie growled at Pappy’s boss who chided him to teach his dog some manners. Pappy replied that “he knows what you put in my fitness report!” True story…I guess Barney feels likewise with members of the media. He knows who the enemy is…

Nozzle on November 6, 2008 at 7:42 PM

Was Barney sufficiently vetted?

And how the h*ll did he get security clearance!

Will Barney be one of KO’s Worst Persons?

BuckeyeSam on November 6, 2008 at 7:42 PM

Barney is showing that he will not meet with the enemy without preconditions. Clearly, our opponent did not establish the conduct or purpose of the meeting clearly enough and Barney showed him what a strong defensive response is.

Hopefully, in the future the Obama-scribe will understand that preconditions are necessary when encountering a hostile situation.

Mallard T. Drake on November 6, 2008 at 7:43 PM

I think most would go the lifting-the-leg route. Less likelihood of liability and greater potential for emphasis.

I have a Cairn Terrier. I can’t imagine him biting, but oddly enough several people have been afraid of him. Maybe they know something about terriers that I don’t.

We copy Barney’s haircut on our terrier. It is so adorable!

Greta has this story up over at GretaWire. She says:

By the way, I met Barney and he was very nice…although he was not interested in me…he wanted to get back to the private quarters for his meal..so he looked at me, let me pet him a few times…walked off…and stood next to a closed door waiting for someone to open it so that he could go eat.

That’s funny. I guess Barney does know which reporters need to be taken on.

Other good choice might be a wolf, from the great state of Alaska, of course.

My only advice to Barney (the dog) is that when it comes to journalists go for the crotch, not the finger. The other Barney already goes for the crotch but that’s a different thing.

Who cares — I hope he doesn’t come back. I seriously question if he wasn’t just a Democrat/Kos plant on here to work us all up. At any rate, his behaviour in the face of reality, and his treatment of others, was ridiculous. Frankly, I’d like to see ManlyRash bitten by Barney.

Republican on November 6, 2008 at 8:42 PM

This altercation wasn’t Barney’s fault. Palm up and slow go is the safe option. I always ask permission or leave scotties alone as they are noted for being unpredictable and protective. It was a pre-emptive strike; Barney thought the doofus was going to hit him.

marybel on November 6, 2008 at 8:42 PM

I’ll make a serious comment as the average person could expect a visit from animal control and possible loss of their dog over a bite. In this instance, whoever was walking Barney must not know much about dogs. Barney’s appearance alone was a warning to stay away. Add to that the lack of control how the reporter reached for him, Barney reacted in a typical defensive (not aggressive) manner.

With that said, what a wimp. My cat bites harder than that. No need to go for the groin, he doesn’t have a pair.

Hammerhead on November 6, 2008 at 8:42 PM
