I wrote to Rep. Shuler and included the link to the video. I doubt that it wll do any good but I let him know it shames western NC to have this representing our education. The representatives in the so called “peoples house” do not like hearing from mere citizens and the contact system for the House is a maze to get through. They also block contacts with zip codes not in their district.

What a horrid, horrid teacher! That sort of behavior should result in immediate dismissal and an injunction to never teach again.

Definitely a product of some of today’s Colleges of Education. Talk about a liberal slant! :P

Before my son came along, I was a high school physics teacher. First six years in a Catholic high school (I’m a Whiskeypailian…er Episcopalian) followed by one year in the International Baccalaureate program in an urban public school (School Boards put IB programs in the worst schools to artificially boost scores). It was a shock going from a well-run private school to an urban public school setting, even though my own students were ‘good kids’ for the most part. My eyes were definitely opened to the political games that were played within the public school system.

But I avoided a good bit of the liberal brainwashing given to most up and coming teachers because I had my physics degree FIRST and only decided on teaching while a grad student. So I only had to pick up a few required Edumacation courses as a grad student.

Now my son is in his last year of middle school and I’ve been thinking it’s time to return to teaching, but daaang, I’m not so sure I could survive today’s public school system. :P
My deepest appreciation for those who are willing to brave the battlefront in order to give children a fighting chance in escaping the brainwashing.

And on another note…. Aren’t Dems the ones who scream bloody murder when a pastor says anything political in church to other adults as a reason for the church to lose it’s tax exempt status? Why then is it OK for a publicly funded school to have adult teachers espousing political views to young children?

I am ashamed to be from the same state as this teacher. I sent a link to Rush and Neal Boortz. Hope they can get the word out. I can just imagine how I or my husband would react if our child came home and told me this happened in his class! Sadly, Asheville is a bastion of liberalism, so this is just normal student indoctrination going on.

Here’s a bit of past personal history.. My fav. teacher growing up was my 5th grade history teacher. This was in 1992, and she was a big time Clinton supporter (wore a button to school). However, she was also not judgemental about people who didn’t support Clinton (most of the school – Catholic school, very anti-abortion) and didn’t indoctrinate anyone in the class. This lady seems really incapable of taking this approach. Berating children for expressing their opinion is just despicable beyond belief.
