“Less than fifty years ago, African-Americans were barred from public universities, restaurants, and even drinking fountains in many parts of the country. On Tuesday we came together and transcended that shameful legacy, electing an African-American to the country’s top job — which, in fact, appears to be his first actual job. Certainly, it doesn’t mean that racism has disappeared in America, but it is an undeniable mark of progress that a majority of voters no longer consider skin color nor a dangerously gullible naivete as a barrier to the presidency.”

That is a freaking scary article. My God what had this country done?

This is what everyone said about Bush as well. There’s FISA, which has a purpose, but that’s the closest that it got. I dunno…take a chill pill? I’m no fan of this dude either, but I want to hope it’s not going to get that bad..
cappy718 on November 7, 2008 at 8:00 AM
I still can’t bring myself to watch Fox News for any length of time.
By this is what happens when we allow the Beltway Elite to take over the Republican Party. Hence the attacks on Sarah.
This administration is going to be interesting to watch. Whether he is going to be the “Dear Leader” or a puppet of “San Fran Nan”.
But if all the “superior intellects” out there try to split the Republicans into believers and non-believers, the Republican Party will never win an election again.
I will respect the office of President, but not the individual that’s been elected or the ideals he represents.
Socialism and Marxism have never succeeded. They never will.
The will be a whole lot of people experiencing “buyer’s remorse” in the next 4 years.

In Chicago, I am a member of the same gym Obama attends. This man has a troubling need for attention. Yesterday, he put himself square in the middle of the gym (a huge open area) to do his 3.5 on the treadmill. (remember, he is a smoker). There are many other areas to go to,instead he clogged up a major part of the main workout area with his SS agents while he sucked up the applause.
I had to leave, it was disturbing.

Obama should never be referred to as President.
From now on he should be called:
Terrorist Associate Barack Obama.
gumble on November 7, 2008 at 8:21 AM
Why do you turn to insults to answer those with whom you disagree?
Also, my post was somewhat hyperbolic, although I do think his foreign policy agenda is ridiculously naive, and that our enemies are rubbing their hands together in glee that they’ve got a complete socialist newbie soon-to-be in the White House.
haikusrock on November 7, 2008 at 8:22 AM
I just had that realization myself. I’ve gotten to the point where President Obama doesn’t scare me anymore. He’s not going to be any different than any other politician. Nothing says “change” more than selecting people to you cabinet that have been in Washington for 20 years.
It’s Congress, I’m scared of. They write the laws and pass the budgets. These idiots haven’t done anything right since time began.
Obama will just be the yesman who signs this stuff when he’s told to. He’ll be every bit the puppet that people said Bush was.
Pcoop on November 7, 2008 at 8:24 AM
Your serious? Applause for a smoker sucking on a treadmill?
Unbelievable. I mean I believe it, it just doesn’t make any sense. I mean its almost like he would receive applause for farting while running.
Oh, how heavy will the buyers remorse be for this man?
Marine_Bio on November 7, 2008 at 8:25 AM
America’s “buyers remorse” will be worse than what happened when you sent off for the x-ray glasses or sea monkeys from the back of the comic book as a kid.
They were presented as one thing and turned out to be another. Sound familiar?
kingsjester on November 7, 2008 at 8:35 AM
True, but one could just toss the sea monkeys and x-ray glasses in the trash.
Disturb the Universe on November 7, 2008 at 8:41 AM
Now come on. The sea monkeys weren’t trash. They were……..Fish food.
:)

Iowahawk rules!
84fiero on November 7, 2008 at 8:59 AM
The question though was somewhat rhetorical. (And not the way Biden’s moments of truth were described as a rhetorical flourish)
I think it will be more along the lines of ordering the x-ray glasses and finding out after you’ve received it that there was an Anthrax contamination that came along with the package.
Of course, those of us who knew better in the first place, will be standing back just shaking our heads.
Marine_Bio on November 7, 2008 at 8:59 AM
Might I suggest, go out & buy (with non traceable cash) as many copies of the Declaration of Independance and the Bill of Rights, and Bibles, and anything on the Founding Fathers that you can. They will likely become “unavailable” after Jan 09. I have had a sick gut feeling after I was on Michelle Malkins sight and filled out the Thank Sarah, only to realize that it is a lefty website, hopefully it is NOT for collecting names & addresses. This makes me sick as I have five grandkids under the age of thirteen. What to do, Trust in God and his son my savior Jesus Christ. Come Lord Jesus.
Illinois Grandma on November 7, 2008 at 9:03 AM
I had no idea about the website, thanks for the heads up.
On the rest of it though. I don’t know how much time is left, but I think that the stage is set for persecution to actually gain some headway here in the US. There isn’t much time left though.
Marine_Bio on November 7, 2008 at 9:13 AM
Okay people, how about we chill out now. Take things one day at time and be ready for anything and not be afraid of the fight that we know is coming.
In the meantime, how we try real hard not to sound like the delusionally paranoid nutjobs the left has always accused us of being.
Pcoop on November 7, 2008 at 9:23 AM
Does he actually sweat? Was there a glow about the room? Did people lay down their towels and genuflect? ugh.
scalleywag on November 7, 2008 at 9:30 AM
By virtue of being a christian, many of us will perpetually be labelled as suffering from paranoid delusions. We aren’t calling for mass chaos or beheadings like the fundamental islamic community would be in an analagous situation. So cheer up.
Instead of worrying about it, I would recommend examining the text that makes us believe these things. It would be more productive and informative.
Marine_Bio on November 7, 2008 at 9:32 AM
I have to agree. Although I love that article (and all Iowa Hawk’s stuff), I really want to guard against ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome).
I am honestly hoping that the worst we’re going to see here is a rehash of Carter. And that the best we’ll see is a rehash of Clinton if the republican party can resurrect a sane platform before 2010.
So far it seems he’s looking at Clinton-esque staff, so I have no reason to believe Bill Ayers will be appointed secretary of Education :-)
That said, I’m going to enjoy watching Obama supporting conservatives squirm when the honeymoon is over.
rightallthetime on November 7, 2008 at 9:34 AM
It dawned on a lot of people in 2008. Good post.
Mr_Magoo on November 7, 2008 at 9:35 AM
You think the article is scary. Wait till you experience reality. Most of the pundits are still in denial, saying we are still a center-right country leaning slightly more to the center. Willing suspension of disbelief – or something.
Mr_Magoo on November 7, 2008 at 9:37 AM
As I said, it’s not Obama we should be worried about. He’ll let people down on his own when they relaize there’s nothing to him and at best, he’s just like any other politician.
The real fight’s in Congress. Those (along with the RINOs in our own party) are the ones we should be taking the fight to.
I have a feeling that El Presidente Obama will be as useless as tits on a bull.
Freaking out about stuff that hasn’t happened isn’t going to get us anywhere. I bought into the mass hyetria too. I used to say that Obama will be our Hugo Chavez, now I just say that the potential’s still there. But nothing’s happened yet.
It’s like Y2K, do we really want to look like the morons who horded gas and food for the impending apocolypse only to see nothing materialize.
Be vigilant, but don’t go off the damn deep end.
Pcoop on November 7, 2008 at 9:43 AM
I’m with what someone else said…the thing I fear about him most is not only his own outlandish and expensive plans (and how he’s going to pay for them), but that he’s going to become a puppet for Pelosi/Reid and company. Plus he has no executive experience, he’s made no real decisions. He’s voted “present” instead of tackling issues. That’s not being paranoid, it’s realistic. Maybe he “CAN” do all he’s promised, only time will tell. He’s not going to have a very high approval rating his first year, though, that’s a given.
scalleywag on November 7, 2008 at 9:45 AM
Unfortunately, President Above My Paygrade-elect and a Dem- controlled Congress can still do a lot of damage – in spite of the Clinton-esque appointments. Amnesty 2.0 with no borders, Supreme Court appts, skyrocketing interest rates, corporate tax hikes and interference, abandoning Iraq and Afghanistan, reduced militray (Clinton 2.0), I could go on… it’s gonna get messy, IMO.
And the sad part is the 50% that voted for this change will find that in four years they won’t be any better off than they are now. They will probably be worse. And I’m willing to bet that they will still blame Bush and the Repubs.
Mr_Magoo on November 7, 2008 at 9:46 AM
Now that is a good point. I wonder how long they’ll be able to convince the electorate that its all the EVIL Repubs fault.
Marine_Bio on November 7, 2008 at 9:54 AM
Hey there is always the stupidity that you can depend on. I actually heard one retard say this to another retard, and it blew me away.
They were saying that they thought the Democratic party is the party to vote for because they stand for democracy and the Republicans have a silly name.
I got the stupid look when I said that this was a Republic, so I just gave up.
I’m so ashamed of how stupid some people have become.
Marine_Bio on November 7, 2008 at 10:00 AM
Folks, if you’re so scared about Obama (and believe me, I’m not sleeping well over it all), then do something about it. Get involved, in politics, in PACs, in local and national initiatives. Organize, organize, organize!
One of the key reasons (although not the only one) why Obama won was because the left was organized and motivated, far more than we on the conservative side were. We can learn a lesson from that. We must learn a lesson from that.
Contribute cash, start blogging, get out there and educate your family members and neighbors who may be political fence-sitters. Don’t just get scared or angry, get motivated.

However, I do have to agree with Eagelberger (sp?).
Those that voted for him have elected a con man.

And as a bonus, we’ll get “something different” for economic policy too.
Time to find out if raising taxes and increasing the costs of energy, transportation and food can end a recession.
Nobody has every had the guts to try raising the costs of everything while in a recession to see if somehow higher costs will result in a stronger economy. Maybe higher costs on everything will result in stronger businesses, better bottom lines, higher worker’s pay and benefits, and higher profits all around.
Can we try this incomprehensible economic policy now?
Yes, We Can!
Still feeling the hope?
gekkobear on November 7, 2008 at 12:42 PM
That’s the problem, those that voted for the empty suit thought they were voting for the next American Idol and not POTUS…unfortunately for them and the rest of America we will all pay the price for their shallow ignorance!
Liberty or Death on November 7, 2008 at 12:53 PM
I haven’t read the earlier comments on this thread so I don’t know if there has been a lot of hyperbolic doom and gloom, but speaking for myself I am very anxious about what lengths Obama, his administration, and especially his followers will go to to crush dissent in this country. We have just witnessed an election cycle in which loyal, mainstream Democrats were harassed, ridiculed, and disenfranchised for supporting Obama’s opponent (Hillary)… followed by some of the clearest cases of election fraud and malfeseance any first-world country has ever had (ACORN, illegal campaign contributions, “truth squads”).
When I look ahead to an Obama presidency, all I can picture are two thugs, standing at a Philadelphia polling place wearing Black Panther regalia and wielding billy clubs.
Sorry, I don’t trust that Obama is suddenly going to become a moderate or centrist in how he governs, nor do I believe he will abandon the strong-arm tactics that just won him the White House. And, I certainly don’t trust his supporters. I’m glad that 53% of the country has “hope,” at least someone does. Personally, my hope is gone.

Where Weezy at?
Wyznowski on November 7, 2008 at 1:34 PM
You act as though we were just introduced to this man yesterday.
The problem is, we have spent the last year learning about him. You say, “Nothing’s happened yet”.
Perhaps you missed the Truth Squads that the governor of Missouri had to come out against. Obama’s GOTV organization, ACORN, distorting and confusing the voting process. The attack, using government resources, on a private citizen. The complete disregard for campaign fundraising laws. The motley crew of characters that have surrounded Obama his entire life.
Clearly, you want to take an optimistic view – and as foolish as I personally believe it is to trust this man, I acknowledge that is your right. What I don’t understand is how you can sit there and say that nothing has happened yet. A lot has happened. Too damned much for my taste.
