Palin on the leaker: A “small, evidently bitter type of person”

Frum thinks he knows who that small, bitter person is, but the fact that he has his own issues with her colors the assessment. Meanwhile, an important footnote to last night’s fingerpointing speculation: Randy Scheunemann, Palin’s chief loyalist within Team Maverick, apparently was not fired by the campaign for leaking, contrary to CNN’s report yesterday. From today’s Times piece on the “civil war”:
Advisers in the McCain campaign, in suggesting that Palin advisers had been leaking damaging information about the McCain campaign to the news media, said they were particularly suspicious of Randy Scheunemann, Mr. McCain’s top foreign policy aide who had a central role in preparing Ms. Palin for the vice-presidential debate.
As a result, two senior members of the McCain campaign said on Wednesday that Mr. Scheunemann had been fired from the campaign in its final days. But Rick Davis, the McCain campaign manager, and Mr. Salter, one of Mr. McCain’s closest advisers, said Wednesday that Mr. Scheunemann had in fact not been dismissed. Mr. Scheunemann, who picked up the phone in his office at McCain campaign headquarters on Wednesday afternoon, responded that “anybody who says I was fired is either lying or delusional or a whack job.”
More from CNN:
Scheunemann, who was widely viewed as a supporter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, admitted people were trying to push him out of the campaign. But he said that [Michael] Goldfarb, his ally, was incorrect when he told CNN that Scheunemann’s blackberry had been taken away — although he does admit that his e-mail account had been “temporarily” cut off.
Michael Goldfarb, a McCain press aide and Scheunemann ally, said that senior McCain aides were mad at Scheunemann — and wanted to fire him — but he insisted they stopped short of that, and instead simply turned off his campaign communication.
Goldfarb said Scheunemann was in the office on Saturday. He was, however, noticeably missing on election night when top aides to John McCain and Sarah Palin gathered in Phoenix, Arizona.
CNN claimed no fewer than three senior McCain advisors as sources for the original story; if you’re inclined to point the finger at Nicolle Wallace and her husband, Mark (who also worked for the campaign), that still leaves one other leaker; Steve Schmidt would be a prime suspect, assuming the rumors about him being sour on Palin are true. Now that the leakers’ story about Scheunemann being canned has been debunked, why doesn’t CNN burn them and out them?
O’Reilly offered the ‘Cuda half an hour on Monday’s Factor today to answer the charges. Judging from what she says below about having nothing to say, I’m guessing he’ll be turned down. Good news, though: If you need your daily Palin fix going forward, the Atlantic’s most famous blogger is promising to stay on the case, doubtless until the shocking true story of Trig’s matrilineage can finally be told.

How much time each day do you spend polishing your Giant Brain?
Mr. Wednesday Night on November 6, 2008 at 5:41 PM
Projecting again,
Seek medical help. You are clearly suffering from a mental illness.
wise_man on November 6, 2008 at 5:42 PM
Do you even know what the word projection means, or is it part of your own custom language that only you understand?
MadisonConservative on November 6, 2008 at 5:48 PM
“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I (Jesus) profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:22-23
“The LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king” (Isaiah 33:22). The Bible is the basis for American system of Jurisprudence and Constitution. That is a fact. Get over it.
If you actually believe that Sarah Palin is stupid, then you are one of those sick, imbosilic, disgusting, evil voters, that I am talking about! You are condemning a decent woman. Shame on you! This demented view along with your total blindness that in a Constitutional Republic like the US, rights are conferred by the Creator, sadly indicates to us that you are the exact type of person destroying this country! I mean, you could burn in hell for this! What is wrong with you!

Hey, it’s in the air, looks like it might be a homer…
…aaand the center fielder catches it for an out.

Yes, “projecting.” I never said better than you. This is from your mind. What I am frustrated is – is your behavior that is bordering on unhinged moonbat, to believe something that is not based on fact, and you will consider him guilty until proven innocent, something that the moonbats are usually guilty of. You should be above this. But you wallow in the same gutter as them when you participate in this.

You still haven’t answered whether you believe in the Obama-Khalidi tape even though you haven’t seen it. If you do, and you are a skeptic on this, you’re a hypocrite.
MadisonConservative on November 6, 2008 at 6:13 PM
Then again, you’ve already refused to defend or address the various issues that McCain had that were liberal. You always either called people liars, or simply questioned the source. You never had material to back up your simple denial, just the same blindfolded-fingers-in-the-ears-while-humming attitude that told people to “shut up and vote for McCain”, else they be guilty of “treason”.
MadisonConservative on November 6, 2008 at 6:20 PM
Because I care about people. I care about you. I love my enemies. I don’t want you to burn in hell for eternity.
No. That’s not what I said. I didn’t say it would happen, I said I believe that the Rapture is very close, and I doubt true born-again Christians will be here in 4 years. That’s what I said. God would not have given us prophecies that cannot be understood and confirmed. The Bible does warn us when we are close. We may not know the day and hour; but we should know the season:
“But of the TIMES and the SEASONS, brethren (Christian), ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they (unbelievers) shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child (a woman in labour); and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren (Christian), are NOT IN DARKNESS, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” 1 Thessalonians 5:1-10
If Hell was a literal place that you go to after you die would you want to be warned of it’s existence?

Someone needs a remedial course in language and civil discourse.
Few minds will be changed when you turn your audience off with vile rants.
Please take that kind of stuff to Daily Kos or some other back-alley sewer.

I can respect that. See, you are the type of person who we can try to convince otherwise. Try to convince that Mike is a genuine 100% pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, Christian conservative. That he would be a great President. Have a healthy debate about it. Try to win you over. There’s a big difference between people like you and all these other phony, hypocrite fools, who deliberately lie about somebody for their own selfish gain.

What the hell are you talking about and what the hell does this have to do with the Palin leaker???
wise_man on November 6, 2008 at 6:35 PM
That’s right, Marine_Bio. Israel is GOD’S Time Clock. The Bible says,
“When the Lord builds up Zion (Zion is another name for Israel), He shall appear in His glory.” Psalms 102:16
The restoration of Israel as a nation again in 1948, after 2500 years, was the catalyst that set everything in motion. We have now entered a time period called the “last days”.
apacalyps on November 6, 2008 at 6:36 PM
The morons who are throwing a good man under the bus for actions that are nothing of his doing are the ones who need a remedial course in logic and reasoning. It’s their bias and inability to be reasonable that is poisoning their minds. Not mine.
wise_man on November 6, 2008 at 6:37 PM
Feigned ignorance is not an answer.
MadisonConservative on November 6, 2008 at 6:38 PM
So far, the person being plastered on the news for answering the door in a bathrobe is Palin, not the guy you worship and refuse to question. So tell me who’s currently under the bus.
MadisonConservative on November 6, 2008 at 6:40 PM
Former mouthpiece for master terrorist Yasser Arafat, Rashid Khalidi said about Obama, “You will not have a better senator under any circumstances.” Barack Obama is going to strengthen Israel’s enemies. Watch out! There is no question that we have kicked into a new gear in Bible prophecy.
apacalyps on November 6, 2008 at 6:43 PM
You’re missing the point though, Madison. In Matthew 24:11 Jesus says concerning the last days:
“Many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”
And in verse 24:
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew (show) great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect (”the elect” refers to Christians. False prophets will even deceive some Christians).”
The Bible clearly warns there would be a RISE in “false Christs, and false prophets” deceiving many in the last days. And when we see this increase in false prophets it would be a sign.
Hmm. Like this guy. Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda.

L. Ron Hubbard did exactly that for decades, and he ended up dying, and it’s now been 25 years with no end times.

MadisonConservative on November 6, 2008 at 7:05 PM
The problem with Governor Palin is that she just couldn’t overcome McCain’s wishy-washy personality. You can just get so much from someone. BTW: I will never again vote the lesser or two evils again. If the RNC wants to die, let them die. Conservative principles or nothing.
TimothyJ on November 6, 2008 at 7:09 PM
L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology (a false religion). He, himself, is a fullfillment of Bible prophecy. Even the apostle Paul warned us about this deception, saying, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the LATTER TIMES some shall depart (desert, draw away) from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” (1 Timothy 4:1). I don’t want you to go to hell Madison. It’s not worth it. We can be wrong. We’re all wrong. The guy who put the eraser on the end of the pencil knew what he was doing. We can make mistakes. Pleease, don’t make a mistake with your eternal salvation. I gotta go for a bit, ciao.

Today Hannity said that this was not a defeat for conservatism; it was a defeat of Republicanism. I have to agree. There were several liberal ballot initiaves that were defeated by big margins. America is still a centr-right country. Obama ran a typical Dem campaign – sound like a moderate. Enough people bought it to get Mr. Secrecy elected.
Pelayo on November 6, 2008 at 7:50 PM
All this finger pointing and blame spreading is because the members of the McCain team are disappointed and angered that they will not have jobs because McC was defeated. They were hoping for some plum appointments in a McCain administration. Now they have to get real jobs.
Pelayo on November 6, 2008 at 7:59 PM
you are a delusional liar. And a turd. Someone needs to step on you and then scrape you off their shoe with a broken stick. It’s sad to see you be such a pathetic piece of sh*t as you are.

I have read all the posts on this page. You acting like a chump. This is not the Daily Kos.
I respect Sarah Palin but I want to know if Sarah Palin was Sam Palin would any of this stupid crap be out. I am sick of the sexist crap from democrats and republicans.
We need to unite around our shining consertatives stars and take the fight to the msm media that wants to smear them.
We need to develop and fight for consertatives that have real ideas , find and nuture talent. Honestly, some of the people on this blog should be running for office. WE need to take our party back and be the party of consertatives. Now so we are ready for the poeple that will want us in 2010. I was off yesterday and watching James T. Harris on Fox. The country thinks like many of us. Lets take our party back and make them listen to the masses. This is our fight if we don’t, consertatives might as well Kiss off another wasted 4 years. Our time is NOW.

I am going to go out on a limb and state that many of the conservative men on this site, who have been idiotic in their branding of Palin as a “bad” choice, would not have thought so, and would not have said so if her name were “Sam”.
I admit that I have fully thought that about Allahpundit all this time, as well.
There it is. The glove has been dropped. I think the true last frontier will be when the men stop treating us little women like we are okay for taking care of the big messes behind the scenes, but not good enough for the front row seat.

I touted her as a VP candidate on February 1, and I’m a know-nothing peon. McCain, or some of these low-life staffers wielding the daggers, should have had her on the radar back then as well. They should have used February, March, April, May, and on to roll her out to the American public, if for no other reason than to give her some seasoning and gauge America’s response to her.
Palin was tossed into a losing game way too late, and asked to do way too much. In a few short days she had to:
* introduce herself to America
* get across her very compelling storyline
* energize a conservative base distrustful of McCain
* learn on the fly how to deal with the partisan national media
* raise funds for a lagging campaign
* provide vitality to the campaign
* draw and inspire crowds the Presidential candidate could not
* and act as the traditional attack dog
Way too much to ask anyone to do in such a short period of time.
How different things would have been if this compelling woman would have been introduced to the American public back during the Spring as an energy expert–which she is. If her first introductions would have been low-key. as a surrogate for McCain on TV interviews, etc. talking about ANWAR and energy, people would have been saying, hey, did you catch that engaging, intelligent, attractive woman on Meet the Press Sunday? instead of their first impression being Tina Fey’s “comedy”.
How different would people have reacted to her nomination if only they would have had a chance to know her first?
RedMindinBlueState on November 6, 2008 at 11:31 PM
I’m a man, and I take Palin’s side. Whatever happened to the days when respect was extended to a woman that served her greatest role as a mother? Some people on this site act in a way that their own father would slap them for acting like this.
To some of you fellows, I guarantee that if Track or Todd were standing in your presence as you disrepected their mother/wife, you’d be dead set for the swift ass-kicking you deserve.
Why do I feel like this? Because if you’d say it about her, you’d say it about my girlfriend, or even worse my mother.
This is why the Republican party died on Nov 4, 2008. Because of Liberal asshats that invaded the party and poisoned the weak members, who then alienated the base. Regardless of whether or not people want to acknowledge it, it’s the fault of anyone that voted for “Maverick (clever term for sellout)” in the primary, or simply did not vote in the primary at all.
Nope, instead some people seem to want to beat a dead horse, ruin a fellow Republican’s career (that’s more than just reaching across the isle. That’s hopping in Harry Reid’s lap, and giving an interview to NYT).
The backstabbing crap going on in this article was foretold by this, this, and most of all this.
Now he releases the hounds on his own running mate?

Palin was a great VP candidate and in the future will be a great presidential candidate for the republican party. I loved her as a VP candidate because she had knowledge and experience on energy dependence and that is what our country needed. Instead they allowed a democrat to win that will never get our country off of foreign oil dependence.
She could hold her own and is far more intelligent than any of her critics in the media. To those people who continue to insist she is stupid: Sorry, that Bush is gone and you have nobody else to pick on, grow up and get a life.

The words, that you regard so carelessly, will be the words you are either justified or condemned by, as our Lord Jesus Christ Himself says:
“For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” Matthew 12:37
