Video: What we need is a commander-in-chief who’ll “give the country a hug”

Via BMI, I was expecting uplift and transcendence — and all I get is this?

The One’s ability to lower expectations is formidable indeed, my friends.

At first I thought this was the onion.
You see stereotypes like this in the movies.
They actually exist.

JellyToast on November 5, 2008 at 7:24 PM

This is only the beginning………………..

………………. I wonder if all of the Obama voters actually have a clue to what they have just done?

What we need is a commander-in-chief who’ll “give the country a hug”

Well, that’s where that long lost definition of dumbass got off to.

We may soon be living in mud huts (well, the selected someones anyway) but we’ll be so happy after a great big hug.

Speakup on November 5, 2008 at 7:29 PM

I wonder if all of the Obama voters actually have a clue to what they have just done

Nope. The only thing on their little minds right now is that they’ve one-upped the Republicans.

They won’t see the truth until our first major terrorist attack under Obamanation, and I’m certain it will be so large in scale it will make 9/11 look like a traffic accident.

Even then, I’m not 100% sure they’ll learn. They’ll still blame Bush.

ErinF on November 5, 2008 at 7:30 PM

he compared him to Reagan? Excuse me, I have to go take an Obama.

sin nombre on November 5, 2008 at 7:32 PM

I listen to Obama and I can see how some people could get carried away with his rhetoric, I mean it is beautiful. But once you hear that speech or a variation of that speech more than twice how do they sustain the euphoria? How do they not get tired of hearing it and start to say okay that was nice but what comes next? How is it possible that they don’t say explain what the change is you seek, explain what you hope for, what does it mean to fundamentally change the country? Why don’t they ask these questions? Are people really this stupid? They can’t be right? Am I on the Planet of the Apes? Did the world just turn inside out? I feel like my country is slipping away because people hear a catchy phrase and that’s all they need to believe. Can this be true? Is this the end of the America my father told me was the greatest nation on earth? Are we really about to throw the system that has produced more in 221 yers than societies that have existed for thousands of years away because one guy with a nice voice and well written, yet empty speech, says yes we can? God, this is disturbing.

church on November 5, 2008 at 7:35 PM

If you all aren’t doing anything right now, and want to listen to something intensely inspirational, turn on Levin. He’s playing Reagan. Just listening to him for 5 minutes, I feel like running for office myself.

ErinF on November 5, 2008 at 7:38 PM

F*ckety f*ck. Someone remind me of that story about what some Russian said when we brought down the USSR. Something about not having an external enemy causing collapse from within. Oh my.

Fortunata on November 5, 2008 at 7:39 PM

Are you kidding me? Deutsch thinks we feel safer with Obama at the helm? So tell me Donny, does that planet you’re living on have an atmosphere or are you using a hidden breathing tube?

Dee2008 on November 5, 2008 at 7:43 PM

Seven Percent Solution on November 5, 2008 at 7:28 PM

I doubt it..there can’t be that many people who consciously hate the system that gave them what they have. That attitude is very juvenile, in a “dysfunctional juvenile” sort of way.

So far, I haven’t heard any Repubs saying they are in need of therapy, or that they’re going to start the next civil war.

Pretty amazing. I’ve heard a lot of optimism. But no threats or calls for mental help.

ErinF on November 5, 2008 at 8:06 PM

We now have a new President elect and he does not give his kids Christmas presents but he will get them an abortion if they have an unintentional pregnancy. Can’t you just feel the hopeychange .

jellybelly on November 5, 2008 at 8:07 PM

But instead we were given a C in C that wants to give the country an enema, lord help us.

GlocknRoll on November 5, 2008 at 8:08 PM

well according to richard danzig (who according to Obama will be a key foreign policy advisor) the US foreign policy should be shaped by winnie the pooh.

CaptainObvious on November 5, 2008 at 8:10 PM

Hey, they don’t call what Obama has promised a “nanny state” for nothin’! When things aren’t going great, liberals run to mommy, daddy or nanny for consolation. Sad to think that adults are stupid enough to fall for this crap.

ROFLMAO

A hug huh? before of after the pepto bismol? The world is already starting to change. Rocket launchers are shifting, troops are getting itchy feet, and there’s talk of Cuba getting opened up. I think we’ll survive. Really the world changed on 9/11, and not Bush’s fault. What if Bush didnt respond to 9/11? huh?

johnnyU on November 5, 2008 at 8:14 PM

ROFLMAO! A hug!!! Well guess what America. You’ve had 24 hours of some serious “self-hugging”, “shared-hugging” and some major interactive “grope-hugging”.

POTUS IS EMO-PORN!

Someone please call Bambi out of Bill Ayers’ hot tub. And thank him for a job well done as you pack his bags and shove him out the back door already!

PS. Don’t slow down.

spaceman spiff on November 5, 2008 at 8:18 PM

If The One tried to hug me and I said “hell no” and walked away, would they flash my picture on the news, dig into my public records, and call me a racist?

fiscallyconservative on November 5, 2008 at 8:19 PM

OMG I can’t stop laughing!

O’BAMBI = HUGGIES!!! :D

Quick! Someone find Bin Laden and tell him he just “needs a hug”! OMG why didn’t America ever think of this before???

HUGGIES!!!

No doubt we can pitch Ahmahdinejad and Khaled Mashaal in the same HUGGIE HOT TUB with Bambi, along with Chavez. But don’t bet on Putin or Kim Jong-Il settling for anything less than some serious close-contact “lovin’”!

BWAH-hahahahahahahah! ;D

spaceman spiff on November 5, 2008 at 8:26 PM

Please let this one run and run, guys, it would be nice to see Obama voters get that “Oh…..shit” feeling. Not the ‘bots, they’re still sleeping off the hangovers.

Fortunata on November 5, 2008 at 8:29 PM

“Killing them with kindness”…Old saying from the Old Corps, US Marines Corps…This nation needs a good dose of discipline, not a goddamn hug. We have been hugging everyone to death for thirty years. That’s why we have a bunch of self esteem superstars, read losers who voted for this chump. Only sixty percent or so of our students even bother to graduate from high school. Drugs and crime are rampant in urban and not so urban areas. Friends of mine in construction won’t hire a white over a mexican because the whites are lazy. Many young blacks are too busy selling crack to worry about jobs. Young blacks who make up 12% of juveniles are committing more than 50% juvenile crime. That is crime that is actually prosecuted as opposed to ignored as I see drug deals on street corners everyday. Well, these folks are not going to learn character and discipline from Obambi…The slacker generation just got their hero elected President. He’s weak. Running for President is probably the only real work he has done in his life. Get ready Bambi, you are about te be put in the meat grinder for the next four years…Yeah, I know. The press will do their best to bury your mis-steps but that won’t last forever and no matter as we are all in this together…I wish it were better but it ain’t. And, I anxiously await the shrill cry from our elitest Bambi supporters as he cranks up the tax and spend machine. Marginal tax rates will hit 50% before this clown steps down…I mean, for those who actually still pay taxes…The next endangered species.

Nozzle on November 5, 2008 at 8:30 PM

Hey Peggy Joseph. Forget your free gas and free house! Hey -$250k America, forget redistribution!

Just go line up for Bambi HUGGIES on Jan. 20th and BAMBI WILL MAKE IT AaaaaaaWWW BETTER!

spaceman spiff on November 5, 2008 at 8:32 PM

Even then, I’m not 100% sure they’ll learn. They’ll still blame Bush.

ErinF on November 5, 2008 at 7:30 PM

you are on to something here; I fully expect the left to continue blaming Bush for years to come:
Gee, we couldn’t do what we promised because, until we got into power, we didn’t realize just how bad BUSH had made things…

Fortunata on November 5, 2008 at 8:43 PM

Rush and Newt should go on just to ask this guy for his “HUGGIES!”

Hey, anyone want first-in-line to hug boney ol’ Pelosi???

How about HUGGIE AND A WARM AND FUZZY WET ONE from ol’ Liver Lips Bwawney Fwank!!

Ray Barone – “A hug?!!”

Coronagold on November 5, 2008 at 10:45 PM

I went to class today and there were kids wearing Obama shirts. Not just plain ole’ shirts, but they had his portrait in glitter, and one girl had his logo printed on the back of her blouse with the self-made letters spelling “yes we can.”

I do not hug strangers.

RDE2010 on November 5, 2008 at 10:47 PM

OK…let me get this straight now.

First, America gets “screwed”, then I get “hugged” ??

What’s wrong with this picture??

P.S. If you can read this, hug a teacher. If you can read this in ENGLISH , hug a soldier.

“Killing them with kindness”…Old saying from the Old Corps, US Marines Corps…This nation needs a good dose of discipline, not a goddamn hug”

Don’t worry, we will all get a dose of discipline when the million person peoples militia is formed.

davod on November 6, 2008 at 4:56 AM

I don’t need a ruddy hug from idiot and his gaffing side kick-I get those from my family.

I need him to LEAD, to protect my country from threat abroad, and not threaten it from within with his disgraceful stated tax ideas, and killing jobs in coal for much of the country.

Unfortunately I guess the kind of hug they mean would be kinder from a grizzly
