Video: Hope, change, fist bumps on “The View”
posted at 9:11 pm on November 5, 2008 by Allahpundit
Surely you didn’t think we would make it through this election without me subjecting you to a clip from the greatest show on earth.
Hasselbeck’s a model of graciousness in defeat — so much so, given her recent stumping for the ‘Cuda, that it almost sounds like she’s fallen under the spell of Hopenchange. Let’s hope not; once she flips, all we have left is Jon Voight and the guy who played the terrorist in “An American Carol.” Exit question: What’s gotten into Elisabeth? The spirit of conciliation? Paranoia about her public image after last week’s SNL skit? Or is she simply mindful of how The One’s lackeys deal with criticism of their man and deciding not to gamble with ABC’s broadcast license? Click the image to watch.

You know, postings like these are pretty stupid. Something horrific just happened to the party, and I can’t believe you post this tidal wave of Perezhilton-quality BS.

wow…that is…really, really scary. Did she even care at ALL for what she stood on that stage for Sarah Palin talking about? There is a way to concede…but then there is just…defeat and fear. Or brainwashing. What is worse?

This stuff is a distraction. I’ve never watched The View and don’t plan on ever watching it. We should be hammering away at Obama constantly for the next 4 years.

No conservative is upset McCain lost.
Stephen M on November 5, 2008 at 9:29 PM
As Rush said today. Democrats thrive on anger. With the absence of Bush and any Republicans in power next January, they will have to find some outlet for their anger. Should be interesting.
I see the election of this “man” as the sign of the rapture.
Bring it on.

Not going to watch, but I will maybe in 6 months when Mr. Obama is tested and thousands of us possibly are killed, and all Mr. Obama will say without a teleprompter is “Um, Ahhhh, Ummmm….. Hope… CHANGE”……….. and then you cut to a clip from “the View”.
……………….. that should be good T.V.

As with all liberals and conservatives. While we are trying to solve problems, they make everything a war unless they get it their way 100%. They know no compromise and are IMPOSSIBLE to work with if they do not agree. And that’s not going to change. It works for them…on this side of time anyway.

Elizabeth may well be watching out for her own best interests. She openly stumped for McCain/Palin. I think she underwent a sufficient amount of criticism from her own “constituents”, don’t you?
And then there’s the death threats that she received (receives?) on a regular basis …

Why does she think there were fourteen million more voters in this election? There were three million less this election.
clearbluesky on November 5, 2008 at 9:45 PM
As for Elisabeth, she is awesome in my view. She is just being gracious and showing the world that we conservatives do actually show a semblance of class after our world has been shattered. Think if the election would have gone the other way. Elisabeth would have been lynched live on The View today.

14 million more voters? More like 2 mil.
roux on November 5, 2008 at 9:54 PM
Where are they getting these “14 million voters than the last numbers?” Ed Morrissey gave another figure altogether, and his sounded more reliable. Especially given that the popular vote was so close, as well as the final % in battleground states.
I am more inclined to believe that low base turnout and ACORN helped the Dems in an already tough year.

I think Elisabeth showed class, much more class than any of her co-hosts would have if McCain had won. Republicans don’t whine and pitch fits when they lose. That is because the Republican party is about being responsible and accountable. We work, we don’t expect gov. handouts, we don’t use abortion as birth control, the list goes on… liberals don’t lose well, they cry, get lawyers, and judges, and the msm, and hollywood, etc… I never watch the view and never will. I would rather stab myself in the eye with an ice pick. It is pointless.
mcplumbercuda on November 5, 2008 at 10:07 PM

Oh, no DOUBT! She’s a traitor!
Just like that evil John McCain! Who purposefully lost the election! And the concession speech and the times he was going against republicans is the only time he was serious! And O’Reilly? In the tank for Obama! Add this hussy fist bumping sell-out to the list of people we need to throw under the bus!!!!!!!!/s
wise_man on November 5, 2008 at 10:10 PM
Haha Brilliant. That is a true statement. Of the entire View panel only Elisabeth thinks. The rest feel.
carbon_footprint on November 5, 2008 at 10:10 PM
I don’t know of ONE SINGLE PERSON that watches The View intentionally…..or has ever expressed interest in watching the show.
It almost seems that the only thing helping The View is how often the media has stories on what happened on The View since no one would know what happened unless they had been home to watch the show when it aired.
TheMightyQuinn on November 5, 2008 at 10:10 PM
Just pretend you’re Peggy Joseph and start telling everyone about how Obama’s going to give you free gas and a free house!
Then start moaning and groaning the Obama Swoon while doing the herky-jerky hop like you’re seriously about to piss on something.
Or offer everyone the official Obama emo-porn HUG as you cry uncontrollably about how how unbelievably happy you are while violently shaking your hands.
Or just chant “ObamaObamaObamaObamaObamaObamaObamaObama…” in a total dead zone monotone while holding your head in both hands as you rock uncontrollably on a public bus. The best if you can fake tears and keep a straight face. Kissing a framed mini head shot of Obama at regular intervals should land you an Oscar.
Believe me you’ll feel much better.
spaceman spiff on November 5, 2008 at 10:14 PM
I just had to click because I must be a masochist. It was the most sickening thing I’ve seen in a long time. I wish Hasselbeck would find another line of work. I absolutely despise her.
nottakingsides on November 5, 2008 at 10:17 PM
Funny you should mention that:
Early this morning I got a call from Hilton Hotels, the “Hilton Honors” membership club, and they wanted to sell me a 3-day vacation to Vegas or Florida. I told the guy that “now after the election, we’d be less likely to spend money on vacations because the new government is going to have its’ hand in our pocket so we won’t be able to afford any luxuries anymore since we will have to pay for other people’s gas and mortgages”. That pretty much shut him up.
He caught me at a really bad time.
tru2tx on November 5, 2008 at 10:19 PM
The only public service this show provides is to drive thinking people out of their homes in search of work so they don’t have to hear the cacophony those birds make by leaving the TV on after the news.

spaceman spiff on November 5, 2008 at 10:28 PM
I just double checked the final numbers on Fox and CNN and they have it at a little less than 64 million for Obama and a little less than 57 million for McCain for a total of around 120 million. The total for 2004 was 121 million,so Elizabeth must have been misinformed.

I was planning to watch your View clip but was distracted by a really funny squirrel. Woo, look at him run!
Coronagold on November 5, 2008 at 10:47 PM
I watched about 7 seconds of this clip before closing it in disgust. Elisabeth is sweet but she has to admit that a LOT of people lost yesterday. But I can understand her not wanting to get into all that with her little daughter. Or with the witches on the View.
What I really would like for Allah to post is the video of The One toasting Rashid Khalidi at that dinner. You know, the one that the LA Times has been sitting on and promised to release after the election? We can trust the LAT to do the right thing and release the tape, right?
Yeah, right. Not going to hold my breath.
UltimateBob on November 5, 2008 at 10:53 PM
Whoopi needs to get the data on why people voted for Obama. His skin color was a huge factor and had it not been the case, those people would never have gotten out to vote and McCain would have won.
csdeven on November 5, 2008 at 10:53 PM
I don’t think I’m going to be nice to Democrats ever again in my life. (Except the PUMA’s.)
I not a registered Republican, much less a rabid one. I was thinking of voting for Obama myself. I changed my mind after the savage and disgusting display of misogyny toward Palin, and all the salivating commies that crept out of the woodwork, and then the thuggish threats and arrogant condescension to a working class man and the open intimidation of the free speech of citizens, plus the media’s criminal behavior, the lawbreaking of A.C.O.R.N. and the court’s blind eye to it, and so on, ad nauseum.
And now I think of the vile contempt they treated President Bush with – like jackals! – which I have suffered through for years, and to heck with being nice. They may have thought they were “expressing themselves,” or hurting him, or maybe hurting Republicans, but they were actually hurting all of us.
And now they want everyone to forget all that and make nice and “unite”?
Not in this lifetime. Their idea of “uniting” is everyone else going along with whatever they want to do, anyway. If that can’t happen, then like spoiled brats, there’s zero uniting and a whole lot of name-calling.
I’ve taken names, both in my personal life, and in the public sphere, of those who have been most egregious, and they will never, ever get the time of day from me again. I won’t go to their movies, watch their shows, read their papers, or shop in their shops. I’m like Bette Davis in Of Human Bondage: Try to kiss me, and “I wipe my mouth. Wipe my mouth!”
They may take my money and force me to do their bidding, and that will suck. But they will never, ever have my respect or willing cooperation on top of it, and that is their greater loss.
Let these hypocrite bullies “unite” with Bill Ayers and the rest of that crew. It’s what they deserve. Including these disrespectful, wretched excuses for human beings on The View.
(I hope I haven’t put too fine a point on all this.)
Alana on November 5, 2008 at 10:55 PM
It scares me that there are people, mostly women, that watch this show. And what’s most alarming is most of them are raising their young children with this crap show blaring out of their TV’s.

Ugly on November 5, 2008 at 11:03 PM
Right on, Alana. Stand tall.
I agree, the Dems idea of “bipartisanship” means going along with their proposals. But if you take a principled position you’re being a partisan ideologue. We don’t need to cooperate with people like that.
As Ayn Rand put it, when you compromise between food and poison, death wins.
UltimateBob on November 5, 2008 at 11:04 PM
Not in my lifetime, Alana. They way I see it, we have 8 years of being as bad as them, to Obama and Biden and anyone else. Do you remember ‘draft the bush twins?’ or ‘send them to Iraq to they can die by an IED?’
I do.
F*ck them. The longer it’s been since the election the more disgusted I’ve become.
