Here are my predictions for the next four years:

Unemployment: Up
Taxes (for the middle class including the "rich" which now apparently includes people making up to $150K): Up
Interest rates: Up
Wasteful government spending: Up
Deficit: Up
Inflation: UP!
Energy prices: Way, WAY UP!

Stock market performance: Sluggish.
Housing market recovery: Delayed, thanks to these stupid bailouts (Hey President O, I have a house I've been trying to unload in Florida -- you're gonna buy it from me right? At its appraised value, of course. ;o)).

Instability in the Middle East? Check. (All we can do for you now, Israel, is pray!)
Massive government corruption? Check.
An end to the investor class in America, by way of the elimination of the tax-deferred 401(k) and IRA? Check.
A curtailment of 1st Amendment rights, in particular freedom of speech? Check.
Activist SCOTUS? Check.
A return to federal abortion funding and a loosening of the restrictions on abortion? Check.

Get out your bell bottoms and your disco albums, folks -- it's 1976 all over again! The good part about it, tho, is that if history does indeed repeat itself, then after this inept Marxist effs it all up, our 21st century Reagan will be riding in to the rescue in 2012. I don't know who that will be -- Palin, Romney, who knows -- but I have faith it will happen. In the meantime, I am going to continue to fight for ideals and principles, and wait on my opportunity to say, "Hmm, told ya so!"

I didn't vote for the sOb.

Can someone start putting together some papers on impeachment now? I mean, you know, he is going to be a war criminal. When our miliatary starts bombing villiages in Pakistan and kills innocent civilians, that makes him a war criminal.

I think a lot of people are looking at Palin the way the Dems see Obama. They kind of project what they want to see onto her. Calling her the female Reagan or Margaret Thatcher and such. She's a good speaker, she's pretty sharp, she's likeable and she's conservative on most issues, but she's got some problems too. She needs a lot of work on foreign policy, and somebody's got to clue her in on illegal immigration. Let's see if she's improved in four years before we coronate her. I'm keeping my options open.

So now we choose which fork in the road to take:

Right fork: Fight for our conservative principles and regain the congress in two years and the WH in four years

Left Fork: Register Democrat so we can cheat, buy, steal and overlook party corruption in order to regain power. Hey, the cynical part of me(which is pretty strong right now)is seeing that being a democrat right now is a good thing if you want to get away with anything and everything!

So basically...as usual, conservatives have an ever higher hill to climb in this increasingly hostile environment.

Of Course, I will choose the right fork and begin again today to get our great country, a country my military husband has defended for 31 years, on the right track again!!!

We all MUST defend our constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic! Our children and grandchildren deserve nothing less......

My thoughts on Palin. She has many great qualities, but…

Remember when she was debating Biden, and Biden spewed that total horseshit about how 'we threw Hezbollah out of Lebanon, along with the French'. Total, gibbering nonsense. Cliff the mailman on drugs.

And when he finished there was Sarah, smiling politely and ready with her next talking point. No clue that what Biden had just said was garbage. If she'd have said "Joe, I don't think ya know what you're talking about do ya?" She could have made him squirm for a good couple of minutes.

I could have done it – and that's what worries me – that I, and most of you here, know more about what's happening in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Lebanon and lots of other places than she does.

This isn't an attack. She has more appeal to the base than anyone around now, and probably anyone who'll emerge in the next four years. But she really needs to start cramming on stuff. I'm sure she can do it – everyone says she's a 'quick study'. She will also have learned a lot about handling the MSM next time.

So Palin, yes. But a smarter, more streetwise Palin, paired with a walking brain like Jinal.

A very sad day for America. Exit polls showed that most voters based their vote on "change", and they went massively for Obama. But did they really know what "change" Obama plans for them?

Obama talked in his victory speech of trying to bring together Republicans and Democrats, but is this an instance of being able to fool half the people all the time? With a Democrat majority in the House, 44 Republican Senators (assuming Coleman, Stevens, and Gordon Smith hang on to win) may be all that stand between turning America into a weakened Marxist paradise--the dream of Putin and Chavez and Ahmadinejad.

Obama skated by on platitudes about change, and was never really challenged on his past by the MSM, which were all too eager to cover up for him. The Democrat-created banking crisis hit at exactly the right moment for the voters to blame Bush--McCain was leading in the polls until the banking crisis hit. Bush himself was extremely weak on this issue--he blamed "greed" and "Wall Street", and gave Paulson excessive power, but never used the "bully pulpit" to fix the blame where it belonged, on Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Democrats who enabled them to bankrupt the mortgage system by forcing banks to make unsound loans. McCain should have hammered the Democrats for this from the day the banking crisis first hit, but he wanted to be a "bipartisan statesman" and "problem solver" rather than a politician--so he lost the election and saved the economy--for now.

Perhaps, in hindsight, Romney as VP could have saved the election for McCain--he could have better explained causes and solutions for the financial crisis on the campaign trail than Palin, and prevented voters from seeking some vacuous "change" whose only virtue was not being George W. Bush. But it's not clear whether he would have lost votes based on Evangelical revolt against his Mormon religion.

I don't blame Palin for this--she is a true reformer, a true conservative, and she probably does have a bright future ahead of her. She is very knowledgeable on energy issues and issues concerning Alaska, but she was not prepared for MSM interviews and attacks. In he RNC speech, she said she was not seeking their approval, then went and sought it anyway, not realizing that they would deliberately try to destroy her. The Palin choice looked great in late August, when the country was reeling from $4/gallon gasoline, and Drill, Baby, Drill was a good idea.
But when major banks started going under, and all Bush could propose was $700 billion in bailouts while blaming "Wall Street greed", McCain's attacks against "socialism" rang hollow.

Now, what will Obama do? Will he suddenly be faced with a recession, possibly an international crisis forecast by Vice President Biden, and suddenly veer toward a pragmatic center? Or will he remain true to his Ayers/Alinsky/Pelosi roots, and try to impose nationalized health care, socialism, union bullying, appeasement to dictators, stifling of conservative speech, abortion on demand, while squandering America's energy resources (oil, coal, nuclear) and leaving America at the mercy of its enemies?

If Obama veers to the center, he could have a successful Presidency, similar to that of Bill Clinton post-1994, but he would have to keep the House Democrats in check. But power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. If Obama tries to implement what he campaigned on, his first two years will look like a mixture of Carter and Hoover, and voters will probably realize that they unleashed a monster, look nostalgically at George W. Bush and John McCain, and Obama might set himself up for a re-run of 1994 in 2010, . The question would then become--would the GOP have recruited enough credible House and Senate candidates to take back Congress, and how much damage will be done, and can it be undone?

A very sad day for America. Exit polls showed that most voters based their vote on “change”, and they went massively for Obama. But did they really know what “change” Obama plans for them?

Obama talked in his victory speech of trying to bring together Republicans and Democrats, but is this an instance of being able to fool half the people all the time? With a Democrat majority in the House, 44 Republican Senators (assuming Coleman, Stevens, and Gordon Smith hang on to win) may be all that stand between turning America into a weakened Marxist paradise–the dream of Putin and Chavez and Ahmadinejad.

Obama skated by on platitudes about change, and was never really challenged on his past by the MSM, which were all too eager to cover up for him. The Democrat-created banking crisis hit at exactly the right moment for the voters to blame Bush–McCain was leading in the polls until the banking crisis hit. Bush himself was extremely weak on this issue–he blamed “greed” and “Wall Street”, and gave Paulson excessive power, but never used the “bully pulpit” to fix the blame where it belonged, on Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Democrats who enabled them to bankrupt the mortgage system by forcing banks to make unsound loans. McCain should have hammered the Democrats for this from the day the banking crisis first hit, but he wanted to be a “bipartisan statesman” and “problem solver” rather than a politician–so he lost the election and saved the economy–for now.

Perhaps, in hindsight, Romney as VP could have saved the election for McCain–he could have better explained causes and solutions for the financial crisis on the campaign trail than Palin, and prevented voters from seeking some vacuous “change” whose only virtue was not being George W. Bush. But it’s not clear whether he would have lost votes based on Evangelical revolt against his Mormon religion.

I don’t blame Palin for this–she is a true reformer, a true conservative, and she probably does have a bright future ahead of her.
But when major banks started going under, and all Bush could propose was $700 billion in bailouts while blaming “Wall Street greed”, McCain’s attacks against “socialism” rang hollow.

Now, what will Obama do? Will he suddenly be faced with a recession, possibly an international crisis forecast by Vice President Biden, and suddenly veer toward a pragmatic center? Or will he remain true to his Ayers/Alinsky/Pelosi roots, and try to impose nationalized health care, socialism, union bullying, appeasement to dictators, stifling of conservative speech, abortion on demand, while squandering America’s energy resources (oil, coal, nuclear) and leaving America at the mercy of its enemies?

If Obama veers to the center, he could have a successful Presidency, similar to that of Bill Clinton post-1994, but he would have to keep the House Democrats in check. But power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. If Obama tries to implement what he campaigned on, his first two years will look like a mixture of Carter and Hoover, and voters will probably realize that they unleashed a monster, look nostalgically at George W. Bush and John McCain, and Obama might set himself up for a re-run of 1994 in 2010, . The question would then become–would the GOP have recruited enough credible House and Senate candidates to take back Congress, and how much damage will be done, and can it be undone?

That picture of Palin waving goodbye really hits hard.

Dudley Smith on November 5, 2008 at 7:38 AM

she isnt going anywhere. We arent going to let her! haha!

Besides, she knows that she was the only thing to really energize the party. She knows that those crowds showed up for her and the future of conservatism, not the past and the the republican party.
She'll be back. But she better (and I say this as someone that adores the lady) she BETTER REMAIN SHARP. Hit those books Sarah. be the quick study that you are. And remain in the public eye if you are even THINKIN OF ANOTHER RUN.

If she does that...she'll have her backing. We'll be with her.

All my pre-election gloom and doom has allowed me to manage the sting of this bloodless coup this morning. Nevertheless, the bloodletting comes very soon in the form of a thinner wallet and a substantially edited Bill of Rights. Never before in our history has there been a president we knew less about, and, yes, with such a "different" name. We reached a tipping point in 2000. Things have definitely and obviously changed. A new generation of empty heads now march lock-step into the sea. Look into the eyes of the teaming masses as they offer adulation to the newly elected "messiah." Scary. What do you expect in a society in which all that pertains to God has been sucked out? The vacuum was bound to be filled and it was. Heaven help us. It's our only hope now.

Take some time to mourn, for the America we knew is dead.

Then let’s start community organizing. We have to hold for two years, and start winning back in 2010.

Home school your younger children. Send your older ones to a college or university that does not spew hate for the USA, if you can find one. Boycott the major news outlets and their advertisers. Be prepared to march on Washington if when they propose the Freedom of Choice Act and the Fairness Doctrine. “Get in the faces” of your legislators. Let your senators know there will be hell to pay if they put legislators-from-the-bench on the Supreme Court. Run for school board. Call in to every talk show you can get on, not to whine, but to expose the sheeple to solid conservative ideas. Write your memoirs so that your children and grandchildren can know that once America was that shining city on a hill.

Pray, Pray, Pray.

God Bless America!

At some point,, the party is over. Obama can not just keep giving speeches day after day. People will not continued to be spelled bound and dazzled while their pay checks shrink, inflation soars, crime increases, electricity rates skyrocket, jobs disappear and terrorism and war continues.
OK,, Obama is black. Cool. That is going to carry him so far,. The novelty will wear off. Just like it did and does every where else.
And when it does wear off, another real "history in the making" event will take it's place.
The next woman president will be waiting. And it won't be Hillary.
