It begins: Palin didn’t know Africa was a continent, claims Fox News

Via Ace, a tasty pile of shinola straight from the stovetop of disgruntled McCain staffers. It’s too cute by half, as is the detail about NAFTA; they might as well have tossed in a story about her having to guess who’s buried in Grant’s tomb. To believe it, you have to believe she figured out a way to become governor of Alaska while somehow lacking the mental power to piece together which three nations might be involved in the North American Free Trade Agreement. Diehard ‘Cuda-haters like Sullivan will, of course, be more than happy to oblige.

You’ll find another clip from Fox that aired earlier today below the Carl Cameron video. See if you can figure out the thematic link. Exit question: If she’s really this much of an abject imbecile, how did that detail manage to escape the attention of Newsweek? There’s no sign of it in their highlight reel of the dishiest dirt they learned about the campaign, a piece which actually includes a quote from another aide about “Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast” as if to prove that they’re not holding back on the ‘Cuda.

Update: The plot thickens.

Jack#ss’s on parade!

I’m getting pretty sick and tired of this crap that
Governor Palin was a boat anchor on the Republican
ticket!

Why O why,are the Republican pundits,and talking
heads besmirching Sarah,and on a side note,whether
any of this has merit,

Memo to Conservatives, Stop airing Republican infighting
laundry!

All your doing is fueling CNN’s
time slot segments!

And this crap about Africa, here’s the impression and
and narrative the Lefty’s want to paint, and that is that
SarahCuda is a bumpkin,in the wilds,up in the boondocks,
the sticks,in other words an “IDIOT”!

Their not content for SarahCuda to lose, the know Sarah
is a threat,a danger to their power, and in doing so,they
want to destroy her politicaly!!

It’s times like this that I’m glad that I’m actually registered as an Indpendent, and not a Republican.

Because the party sickens me anymore.

Oh the irony. McCain and his staffers didn’t have the ball* to attack Obama yet they have no problem attacking GOv Palin.

About CPAC, wouldn’t you want to ban Bush, John Bolton, etc., as well? Who would allow?

jazz_piano on November 5, 2008 at 8:44 PM

If only they’d have attacked Obama-Biden this way. It’s refreshing to see the purging happening so soon, though. I could sense the tension last night on stage. Their handshake..partial hug..was tense.

We lova ya, Sarah. McCain was never our choice, but you were the seasoning in a pile of crap.

SouthernGent on November 5, 2008 at 8:44 PM

Okay.

Now Cameron said Sarah would have temper tantrums each morning when she read her press clippings bring staff near tears? And he gives the bathrobe story. Calls her a “shopaholic”.

Is anyone watching this exchange with O’Reilly and Cameron? This is unbelievable.

Kamikaze on November 5, 2008 at 8:45 PM

Carl Cameron seems to be enjoying this report on O’Reilly a bit too much. What’s up with that? This is pathetic. O’Reilly calles nitpicking and Carl argues with him. I haven’t seen Cameron this animated through the whole campaign. Maybe he wanted to follow Obama?

Dee2008 on November 5, 2008 at 8:45 PM

This is truly gross. They picked her and now they’re throwing her under the bus in the way they were to cowardly to attack their actual opponent in the election, Obama.

Clearly some of McCain’s campaign purposely tried to throw this election, and dishing tell-all on Palin to hurt her future electability is just an extension of that.

Obamalama Deprogrammer on November 5, 2008 at 8:45 PM

Off Topic: I was really feeling down and depressed about the upcoming administration and then this thought cheered me up: even if he is a horrible president we will probably get schools, avenues, holidays and government buildings named after Obama. Looks like there is no getting away from this guy. Ever.

I’ve been irritated with FoxNews for a long time. They’re sensationalistic, and the reason they seem to lean right is that the rest of the MSM leans so far left.

Their reputation as “conservative” reflects badly on all of us.

jazz_piano on November 5, 2008 at 8:48 PM

So apparently “We Report, You Decide” is “We Report One Side, Leading You to think Palin is an Idiot”.

Only with 10 secs left did Cameron report that maybe ALL OF THE MCCAIN STAFF WAS FUBAR.

But really? No contacting Palin staff? Weaksauce.

gdonovan on November 5, 2008 at 8:48 PM

Cameron also said that McCain’s people (cough cough Nicole Wallace) said Palin didn’t know that South Africa was a country and thought that it was just the southern region of Africa. He also said she wasn’t aware of the definition of “American exceptionalism.” Hmmm.

CanadianGuy on November 5, 2008 at 8:48 PM

Ok people. Listen up. this is the rino’s way to save themselves. As Rush said today. their entire belief that the way to win elections has probven a failure. You need to start with you base. Moderates and independents are not a base. Therefore to defelct from that and still keep this insane belief alive they are going to try to pin the entire lose on Palin. forgetting for a moment that McCain was 8-10pts behind before annoucing Gov Palin. GOv Palin quickly closed the gap and pushed the old fart ahead for the one and only time in the campaign after her speech. He remained ahead until wall street went nuts. The leadership is truely scared of the repsonse that Palin got on the trial. the 20,000+ for an outsioder Palin is making the moderate RINO scared. <Mitt and that bunch knows they have no chance to the presidentacy if Palin is standing in the way. the gop will go to the rank and file and conservatism, small government less spending ect will deprive them of power.

You know, you’ve got some staffer who now has to look around to find another campaign to latch on to. These staffers know they screwed up with SP. What to do? Well, since she’s riding off into the sunset, it only makes strategic sense to hand your bumpling on her. Who’ll know the difference.

You can be ethical, or you can be employed.

While we’re on the subject, let’s talk about clothes. You send some volunteer to the store to buy her some outfits. So you get a couple. Then you start thinking….. hmmm … you’re shoe size is the same as hers. Nice blouse. Hmmm… campaigns are chaotic things aren’t they? Moving all the time, stuff gets lost. If this Sarah chick never see’s the outfit, who’s to know…

I wish they would cite their sources — I absolutely believe that there are GOP staffers who are petty, self-centered, and lack the character to take a loss without whining and blame-gaming.

It would be very helpful to identify them now, so future GOP candidates don’t make the mistake of hiring them.

So a disgruntled McCain staffer who couldn’t get his ticket elected is blaming Gov Sarah Palin. Sounds like someone can’t take the pressure fingers are pointing and “Someone” is trying to blame the ticket for their failure.

Meet the Real Sarah Palin Blog, is getting nothing but high traffic like her sister blogs, and Sarah Palin Supporters don’t want her to go away. They want her to form a new coalition. She was a threat to the Progressives, and she still is a threat. We had to put the blog back on moderation. The leftys want to bury her, they are that scared of Sarah Palin. John McCain had his shot, I voted for him but Sarah Palin, has a future in the Republican Party, and I hope she makes the most out of her Political Future.

That’s it. It’s over.

I had so much hope for her, but this will be forwarded and played on tv constantly, with no mention of romney. It will hit every blog, every john stewart, and might get a mention on SNL in a week or so (weekend update).

Bye bye Sarah. Sorry this happened to you, but when independents turn on you, it’s over. She is effectively a cartoon character now…sigh.

jazz_piano on November 5, 2008 at 8:44 PM

If you think I voted for Obama, you have me mistaken. I could never vote for that socialist. I voted for Bob Barr only because Chuck Baldwin wasn’t on the California ballot.

As far as CPAC goes, it needs to shun as many big government pseudoconservatives/neocons as possible. If Bush isn’t invited, so much the better. Let’s close this embarrassing chapter of the GOP.

MedSchoolCatholic on November 5, 2008 at 8:52 PM

I find the accusations to be rather unlikely. If not outright lies they gotta be misunderstandings.

FOX has been sucking a little more every week for the last year and a half, but in the last few days they have pretty much jumpped the shark.

And if you hadn’t already figured it out, it must be obvious by now that the entire McCain Campaign staff sucked from the beginning; and as has always been the case with the democrats, they refuse to accept the blame for their own lack of competence…. or perhaps malfeasance.

Skrooemall.

jazz_piano on November 5, 2008 at 8:52 PM

Anyone want to start with the story of Palin “throwing a tantrum”, which for males would be “Give ‘Em Hell” Harry?

Or the “McCain staffers went to fetch her, finding her in only a towel and were shocked!”?

If the 2nd one is true, there were some damn perverts in the campaign and McCain deserved to lose.

TheEJS on November 5, 2008 at 8:52 PM

If everything they say about her is actually true, it would give many of us pause in our support of her. But I have grave doubts about the validity of these reports. There may be seeds of truth in them, and haven’t we all had stories or gossip told about us that had an element of truth to them, but then they were warped by those who wanted to tell a different narrative than what actually happened.

I also am suspicious because these stories/leaks seem to be coming from people who’s careers are all about working on political campaigns. That means they don’t want to take any blame for this loss, since they need to get hired for the next political campaign.

Red State State of Mind on November 5, 2008 at 8:53 PM

I’m jumping out of the Sarah boat. She might have executive experience, knowledge about the Energy Sector and be a stalwart social conservative but that’s not enough to be President. She’s just not smart enough to be President. The GOP Conservatives aren’t that desperate that we’ll elect someone who can’t name the countries that form NAFTA and who didn’t know that Africa was a continent. Please. I’m out of the Sarah boat. I donated thousands to independent 527’s and McCain, but I’m not throwing my money on Sarah. It was so evident from the way she dropped the Rose Revolution and the Orange Revolution during her interview with Charlie Gibson. He should have asked her about it…
She refused to be coached for the Katie Couric interview and thought that she could actually wing it. DARN! HOW WRONG COULD YOU BE SWEETIE! We need Brainiac Conservatives like Reagan not bimbo’s like Palin.

They’re not going to reveal their sources, but we could find out who is on McCain’s staff and not support any campaign that hires any of them — except Scheunemann.

CanadianGuy on November 5, 2008 at 8:53 PM

I think we conservatives need to get our focus off on Obama, with an expectation that his policies will not succeed. We need to go and reclaim this mantle of conservatism and take the RINO trash out.

I do not like the left, but with their organization and the way that they took their message, I respect that. Not their message, but their method. We can do that here, and the American people are more willing to support us than the left. When Prop 8 fails in CA, conservatism is still strong, never fading.

Hannity now starts his program stating that conservatism is in exile. IT IS NOT! It’s plain as day, the GOP has not offered it to America. We need to start mobilizing today, screw waiting around for 2012, I got a Tim Kaine to kick out now.

In all honesty I have not been all that involved. Sure, I have voted but that’s pretty much all I did. This election did not demoralize me, it challenged me. I now have made it my purpose to contribute to this cause. I hope it does the same for all of us.

(Sorry for the long words, but I needed to get that out)

It’s ridiculous to even try to present evidence that might refute this stupid story but anyway, in Oct 2007 Palin met with the CEO of the world’s second largest mining company about his wanting to set up shop in Alaska. His company, it was noted in the papers, did business in other countries, one of which was South Africa. In fact they did lots of business in South Africa, Botswana, Namiba etc. Is it possible that in his pitch to her that he mentioned that? Do you think she said “South Africa? What’s that? I’ve only heard of Africa. I didn’t know there was a South Africa.”

Anyone who spends someone else’s money on clothes – for their husband – as well as themselves – is not a regulator.

That clothing bill is just another earmark….fashion pork.

AprilOrit on November 5, 2008 at 8:56 PM

Gov. Sarah Palin is the only reason that John McCain did as well as he did……….. if he picked Grahmnesty or Liberman, he would have gotten 1% of the vote.

These as% clowns are pandering to the Obama campaign, and are following orders…………… Start to trash Palin and Conservatives if you want any access to this White House.

Is anyone surprised by this? This is only the beginning people…………. one by one, anyone who was seen as the “opposition” will be destroyed. This is how Obama and his political machine works. It was all out there before the election for everyone to see, but interestingly enough, the “Media” never brought it to light, they acted as accomplices.

I wonder how loud they will scream when he finally comes for them………………………?

Seven Percent Solution on November 5, 2008 at 8:57 PM

McCain is a disgrace if he does nothing to stop this. Wasn’t McCain known for his temper and erratic behavior? And they have the gall to trash Palin for getting upset at anything? McCain’s camp never defended her, they just trashed her and let her flap in the wind.

SAZMD on November 5, 2008 at 8:57 PM

Some of you will never learn. Infatuation with Palin trumps clear evidence for some of the drones here. Any criticism of Palin’s lack of curiousity or lack of knowledge is somehow seen as disloyalty. Carl Cameron is hardly a liberal reporter with an axe to grind.

Keep acting like she knew what the #$#% she was talking about, see how far that gets us next time around.

The McCain campaign forgot to craft a comprehensive economic message or even talk about his healthcare plan until the last two weeks. Not Palin´s fault. The McCain campaign forgot that “maverick” is not a policy. Not Palin´s fault. McCain´s glorious idea to own the bailout? Not Palin´s fault.

No, she merely brought in some serious donations and energized the party faithful across the country. Who needs that!

These people make me sick.

I hope she took the time to spit in McCain’s face. Hey, people in Arizona, do your duty and put the man out of his, no our, misery and vote him the hell out of office. Sarah, we love you….

I see O’Reilly is going to carry the same trash. He’s ticked that she didn’t pay homage to him so he is out to get her as well. I am disgusted.

A man who doesn’t know the difference between a loofah and a falafel has no room to criticize.

Palin is “over” for me. Media image epic fail.

Question is now, who do we build around? Not “who runs in 2012″, but who are the leaders?

McConnell obvoiusly in the Senate, but who else? Who in the house? WHat can I do?

battleoflepanto1571 on November 5, 2008 at 8:58 PM

So are these inside sources the same people who ran this feckless campaign? They screwed up and now Palin has to go down. Ridiculous.

*watches trolls jumping out of boat turned into chum by props*

That’s Governor Palin to you, chums. Heh.

Christien on November 5, 2008 at 8:58 PM

About the clothes. It is my understanding the RNC allowed her to spend the money; so, the issue should be with them first. Second, 5.3 BILLION DOLLARS was spent on this election overall. $150,000 worth of clothes is just a very tiny tip of the iceberg as far as this election goes. I can’t even begin to imagine that kind of excess.

The bottom line for me is this. Sarah Palin’s crowds were large and enthusiastic. I would be concerned if a candidate did not have any reaction to being trashed like she was. But did anyone in the McCain campaign really defend her… The fact is the McCain campaign had multiple opportunities and never were capable of capitalizing on them. Sarah Palin is a genuine american success story who is not an elite or snob. Sarah speaks to everyday americans that is refreshing. Hell most Americans could not tell the difference between a country or continent. This is the problem with the Washington elites and why they can not connect with the folks.

canesfan on November 5, 2008 at 8:59 PM

No news here, folks. We were warned they would throw her under the bus and blame her for McCain’s loss. I don’t care what anyone says about her. I like her. I like her better than McCain.

PoliticallyIncorrectSandy on November 5, 2008 at 8:59 PM

Greta is getting anearful from her viewers tonight who want Fox to apologize to Gov. Palin and either put the McCain staffers on the air or STFU about them.

Hey sockpuppet, the election is over.

Haunchie on November 5, 2008 at 8:59 PM

Oh the irony. McCain and his staffers didn’t have the ball* to attack Obama yet they have no problem attacking GOv Palin.

unseen on November 5, 2008 at 8:42 PM

Irony?

Attacking fellow GOP members is the stock and trade of McCain and his ilk, the type of people who would say…run his campaign.

No surprises here. The Queeg Machine are a bunch of losers and are desperately trying to deflect blame for the crappy campaign they ran. The target?

Sarah Palin.

Now, alas, even FNC appears to be willing to jump in to try and burry Palin.

Perhaps, the folks at FNC need an object lesson in how conservatives handle media outlets that trafic in hatchet-job journalism…

I’m beggin ya Allah – the election is over – you won. Stop with these hit posts – they only feed the trolls. Maybe that is what you want to do?
