Video: Palin votes in Wasilla

Another mid-day motivator for our swing-staters. Three points of note. First, her reaction halfway through to the new Troopergate report: “I tell you, you didn’t believe us. We told you that we had done nothing wrong!” Second, the extent to which she ignores her aides’ attempts to shoo reporters away. After two months of them trying to hush her up, she wants to chat, and chat she shall. And finally, her refusal to say who she voted for. Has the ‘Cuda caught a little Hopenchange fee-vah? (No.)
If the fates are unkind tonight, we’ve got maybe three more weeks of seeing her on TV — postmortem interviews here and there, plus the inevitable Barbara Walters sitdown — and then she’s gone, into the Alaskan ether until 2012. Heart-ache.

Is she cold or does she look really emotional? Love that woman — I just couldn’t figure how she was feeling.

Good lord guys, I like Palin but if she’s smart she will sandbag herself, get some accomplishments, and give off the impression that she’s staying up in Alaska… the party has to be rebuilt on ideas no people so building it up around Sarah is kind of silly…
ninjapirate on November 4, 2008 at 2:26 PM
Dream on. It is Gov Palin’s ideas that people rally around not her. Small gov, lower taxes, less spending, taking on the special interests, special needs children, family vaules,

Good news I feel most blacks voted early but a low turnout for them is a low turnout. I think the talk of a landslide for Obama is going to hurt his turnout. Why get wet and stand in line if your guy is going to win big. Whereas the McCain campa has stated we are pulling close every vote counts we need you. Plus its raining down here. Young people don’t like to get wet.

I was choking up just watching her get deeply emotional over the major privilege of being able to vote.
Methinks I could sense her overwhelming pride and patriotism,
just shy of a tear or two.
Felt like I was watching Reagan.. choked me up.

Latest from McCain camp:
I just talked to one of my best Team McCain sources who told me that heading into today all the key battleground polls were moving hard and fast in their direction. The source, hardly a perma-optimist, thinks it will be a long night, but that McCain is going to win. So add this with the new Battleground poll (Obama +1.9 only) and the rising stock market…

I agree. I detected some emotion in her and I felt it too. I get emotional quite a bit when I see clips of her. I honestly don’t see how she can give those speeches, introduce her kids to the world, etc. and not cry. You know it’s got to be the most overwhelming thing. I’m so glad she hasn’t slipped up and cried though. Dear God, just think of what the press would have done.
Oink on November 4, 2008 at 2:40 PM
When the reporter pointed out that she had been in that building as mayor just 6 years ago, my first reaction was anger that he was trying to ambush her. Then I thought that if his motives were left out it was like a Preston Sturgis film: a little like America when America was at its dynamic best. An ‘O, sister where art thou’ moment.

Sarah Palin is truly an inspiration and I admire her and wish her well. I also voted for her today and want her to win. She is as bright and cheerful today as she was when she started. She’s tough, smart and secure in her own skin. This is what drives the leftists nuts. They can’t stand her because she is everything they are not and she isn’t looking for the approval of the Washington elite.

Like I said, a different breed.
I overheat easily, so I’m usually wearing a lot less gear than those around me (which meant something in KC in the winter, not so much here in SoCal). Even so, I could not have stood out in the snow chatting it up for 10 minutes without my nose turning bright red and starting to run.
I look forward to the next 4 years of VP Sarah Palin (and not just because she is impervious to the cold).
JadeNYU on November 4, 2008 at 2:52 PM
If they aren’t able to pull out a win. This is a perfect analysis of why. I hope that Palin/Jindal will learn from this and not hire these people in 2012.

Yes and every time him or Palin brought up personal responsibility their poll numbers jumped. Yet for some odd reason McCain used the carpet bombing approach in this campaign instead of the guided misslie approach. McCain put out everything he could instead of choosen a couple positions and hammering them home except for pork that is..

Living in Seattle the first year sucked due to the humidity. We don’t have a whole lot of it here in Alaska. Actually the breath coming out and breathing in can hurt do to lack of humidity.
It isn’t the cold that can kill you up here. It is the lack of water… even though it is everywhere frozen.

Ice is a stable form of water, even frozen. Snow is not and takes more energy to melt then ice does.
Ice will only lower your temperatur a degree or two. Snow can take more time, due to eating it and having it melt in your mouth. You will actually dehydrate faster on snow then ice.

Keeping snow and ice in a insulated bag, next to your core can give you enough water to drink through out the day if hiking in the cold country and the ice and snow pack keeps you from sweating and over heating walking through snow, which is the biggest danger for hypothermia. I always keep an extra set of socks around for my feet as well.
