Something to motivate any swing-staters among us who might be thinking of staying home. Guilty as sin, free as a bird, sorry for nothing — and as fully entitled as you or me to help pick the next president. “What a country, America,” indeed.
Also voting at the polling place seen here: Louis Farrakhan and the likely next president of the United States. What time does Wright get there?

Seems to be a lot of Americans in Chicago with no self respect.
BL@KBIRD on November 4, 2008 at 12:03 PM
Why, when you ask such a foolish question?
Terrorists take on many identities…in this case Ayres organization attacked innocent civilian people, and killed several. He didn’t just terrorize, he killed and attempted to kill whole families of innocent people. All for political purposes.
That’s a laughable understatement.
So whatever measure you want to use, he is a terrorist. You don’t need Webster in this case, common sense rules.
He is a unrepentant terrorist, self confessed, that wishes he would have killed more people.

Shows how broken the justice system in this country is. This person and his wife should be behind bars, and as traitors to this nation have lost their privilege to vote and citizenship.
Hening on November 4, 2008 at 12:05 PM
I’d seriously consider bombing William Ayers’ house with his family inside.
And by “bombing” I of course mean tagging it with graffiti. Get hip, Allah.
Someone who makes threats of violence against civilians as a means of gaining political power and influence that was not earned through democratic means. See, e.g., William Ayers.

To quote Melanie Phillips again:
“Barack Obama appears to sit on a nexus between Marxist revolutionary activists, unrepentant former terrorists, Black Power racists, Chicago mobsters – oh, and a Saudi who is trying to buy up America. If you were to turn up at US immigration control with a background of such associates, it’s a fair bet they wouldn’t let you off the air-bridge. Yet this man may well become President of the US! If any other candidate had had merely a fleeting relationship with William Ayers, his candidacy would have been terminated before it was even articulated — let alone what we now know about Obama’s key role in Ayers’s CAC and its funding of radical groups; let alone the fact that Obama had been mentored during his formative years by a Communist Party plant; let alone his work for organizations modeled on the seditious philosophy of Saul Alinsky; let alone his two-decade membership of a Black Power church; let alone his relationship with fraudster Tony Rezko. And yet despite all of this, virtually no-one in the mainstream media is asking any questions. Has there ever been a more staggering, surreal and scary race to the White House?”
Kevin in Washington State on November 4, 2008 at 12:09 PM
They’re targets and motivations.
Then maybe you should try a dictionary rather than relying on opinion for definitions.
terrorist
noun
a radical who employs terror as a political weapon; usually organizes with other terrorists in small cells; often uses religion as a cover for terrorist activities
Do you think it’s possible for Osama to be anything else, even if he quits fighting, which, considering his medical condition, he probably already has?
What about Timothy McVeigh?
The problem is that most terrorists are stopped by force and are actually made to pay for their actions. Ayers will never have to pay and won’t even repent and even claims he’s still a radical who doesn’t regret anything he did.
Would he still be one in your eyes?
Let’s be honest here. Had he bombed abortion clinics in an attempt to make abortion illegal, he would never again be accepted in civilized society. He would always be scarred with that past. There’s no way he’d be given a talk show.
I tried.

In order to make a transition like that requires repentance and second thoughts.
Meanwhile, Ayers must be be proud of his allies in anarchy and revolution. Members of the Black Panthers are holding nightsticks and blocking access to a polling place in Philadelphia, and accusing the White Supremacist Fox News of (you guessed it!) suppressing the vote.

How many Barack followers love the picture of this piece of garbage trampling on the American Flag??
What has happened to our country??
pherrman on November 4, 2008 at 12:11 PM
Is Ayers a citizen? Check.
Is Ayers a convicted felon? No. Check.
Has Ayers renounced his citizenship? No. Check.
Despite the fact that he is a freak of the political world and rightly detested, he still has every right to vote, as do all of us. That is a great example of why our constitution works and needs to be protected – the fact that even Ayers can vote is a protection of our rights to vote – even when we actively work against the government, dissent from the majority view, or do really stupid things.
What a country. I couldn’t be prouder of it!

Impossible, not the dittohead part, the part of not throwing out personal insults.
That is maybe the stupidest post ever written in the past year on HotAir.
Only a lame brained fool would post such a thing. At first when I read it, I thought maybe you were misguided. But after rubbing my eyes and reading it again…it is shocking how naive and irresponsible such a post is.
You confuse terrorist with murderer, you confuse dittohead with conservatives, obviously you know very little about being a conservative. Well this is going to come as a shock…think before you post such dribble, you just embarrassed yourself, or if you are a liberal you lived up to your standard.

For over 30 years or more. They have been teaching their poison in our Grade Schools, Jr. High and High Schools and Colleges. The Government has been in our School systems way to long. The teachers get more and more Liberal each year. What is a student suppose to think to the ones that they are suppose to respect? Why so many lose respect for their parents, and morals that some parents do have and try to instill in their kids. But, they teach their kids to respect the school teachers. So the kids stay mum. Look at the years that Ayers had time to poison so many children with radical views. Nobami was handing out the money for Ayers. But he forgot about that. It was innocent though. Right. Parents need to start looking at the School systems. Now they are trying to make it hard for Home At Schools. If I had a child these days, they would be taught at home. Look at all the little anti American young adults, teens and little kids. And Ayers and his dirt bag wife are roaming around free as birds.

Rovin on November 4, 2008 at 12:13 PM
The problem isn’t that he’s allowed to vote per se but that due to our country’s judicial incompetence Ayers was never sent to jail as he rightfully should have been.
If he had been, then he wouldn’t be able to vote (unless felons can vote in Illinois.).
Esthier on November 4, 2008 at 12:14 PM
stupid thing = leaving brown bag of dog poop on fire in front of neighbor’s door
not stupid thing = trying to commit terrorist acts.
YellowDawg on November 4, 2008 at 12:16 PM
The key here is “unrepentant” terrorist who wishes he had done more (and if he weren’t so old and didn’t have so much to lose would probably still be advocating terrorism). That makes him still a terrorist.
txsurveyor on November 4, 2008 at 12:17 PM
I’m confused…the man is a committed anarchist but he’s voting to ensure the orderly transfer of power? Do you think maybe he doesn’t know what the word means?
So if Obama gains power, will all these fight the power people target him or will they have to change their slogan to fight the powerless? Feel for them…not easy being a mindless idealogue.
AmericanUnderground on November 4, 2008 at 12:20 PM
If dead people can vote in Chicago, I think probably felons can too. Don’t know about dead felons.
I think you are right on the justice system failure – he should have been stripped of freedom and his voting rights, but he wasn’t, so he can still vote like any other citizen, and should not be threatened, just like any other citizen, much as we detest him.

I’ll take that bet. You never used the word repentant in your discourse. I don’t care if he and I agreed on every value that we have – except murder obviously, because he does believe you can kill to get your way.
He would have to renounce that idea, show repentance, make good that change and go the opposite way – then, yes, we can talk about his not being a terrorist.
Until then…he remains and is a terrorist.

Ayers never expressed remorse for his actions. Worse yet, he regretted that they did not go far enough. That alone makes him suspect.
If you cannot make the connection then you are either supinely ignorant, hopelessy obtuse or irredeemably stupid.
Perhaps a combination of the three.

Ya think the local Chicago police he calls for “protection” ( against an inquiring O’Reilly producer who was simply asking questions) know that he killed a couple of NYPD cops?
Wonder how quick they would respond in the future if they knew?
The press should keep the spotlight on this rat and his wifey. Rats like them don’t like the attention, they don’t want people to know their dirty little secrets.
That’s the best punishment we can hand out legally now. Like his buddy, the big O says, “Get in their face.”
shmendrick on November 4, 2008 at 1:06 PM
Not Ayers. The U.S. Government dropped all charges against him based on the FBI actions during COINTELPRO.
dedalus on November 4, 2008 at 1:17 PM
That would be something worth getting angry or possibly banned over, but even then, it’s best to respect the government we have until we’re able to change it.
Otherwise, we lose our democracy.

Tried what? You asked a question. We answered it. That’s how things work. Next time you might ask for the definition of “civil discourse” before throwing the term around. Discourse would imply that you respond, not back out self-righteously.
If you were trying to make a point rhetorically, you failed. You’re welcome to try again, though.

Michelle & Co, thanks for the open registration! Please keep up the excellent work!
Well, I live close to downtown Minneapolis, MN and just waited 47 minutes to be able to vote for McCain and Palin and against Al Franken (and it feels really, really good).
If there are any other Minnesotans here, I live around Loring Park(a very beautiful, but very gay and anti-conservative area. Some of the folks are really cool; some aren’t). I was the 901 voter at 12:05pm and I’m sure I will be out-numbered at least 30-1.

Ayers and Obama in Regular Contact Says Source Close to Obama Candidacy

Just two years ago Ayers and Dorhn compiled and published Sing a Battle Song: The Revolutionary Poetry, Statements, and Communiques of the Weather Underground 1970-1974. Doesn’t sound like he’s too anxious to shed the “Weathermen” label. Rather, he’s doing what he can to keep the “brand” alive in the marketplace of ideas.
saint kansas on November 4, 2008 at 2:02 PM
So who do you think Ayers voted for? The Democratic Party, the Communist Party USA or maybe a write in vote for Mao Zedong?
aengus on November 4, 2008 at 2:04 PM
No, they are now a the Prairie Underground or something like that as a non-violent group==that is against imperialism, classism, racism, etc. Basically an anti-capitalist organization.
However, there is still Alf, and Elf, those type of “green” groups that advocate violence.
These groups like the Black Liberation, and others come and go as the leaders move on in age. But another organization crops up, always a Marxist, communist supported and embracing organization.
right2bright on November 4, 2008 at 2:06 PM
Bill Ayers is disgusting on so many levels. And now he’s just a bad joke:
Placing his orders (to capitalists) for edgy red-star t-shirts…
Living in his upscale bourgoise house…
Calling the same “pigs” he wanted to blow up, to come walk him across the street to protect him from the big, bad Fox reporter’s evil questions…
Going to the polling place to cast his secret ballot…
Loser. All the photo-ops with Chavez in the world can’t hide the fact that he’s nothing but an old burnt out hippie trying to cling to his “glory days”. And really, he didn’t even get that right, considering he’s still got “regrets”… He’s exposed himself as an ideological sham and a hypocrite, time for him to take his metamucil, eat a few worthers butterscotch candies, and go away.

Bad enough that steaming pile gets to vote, how in the world is he established as an authority on education, and gainfully employed by the university system there? He has influence on what our children receive for a higher education? And we pay exorbitant tuition for the priviledge of indoctrination of the garbage that comes out of him and his ilk?
