Video: No candy for Obama supporters

I’m oddly impressed that she was willing to go on camera and cop to this jackassery. What she lacks in simple decency she more than makes up for in courage! Or maybe she’s trying to prove a point about taxes. The case for redistribution made simple: When stingy homeowners won’t part willingly with their candy, the candy must be seized for the common good.
T-minus one hour and counting until the exit polls drop. Can you feel it?

Boy it sure was lucky that guy had a giant cardboard cutout of Obama so he could retaliate on such short notice. I’d hate to think he was campaigning to 4-year-olds just like the woman he was complaining about.

Asians for McCain baby!
Yellow Powah!!!!
YellowDawg on November 4, 2008 at 4:25 PM
Hey this gal is a nut, thank God she is. Everything would be so boring without wacky people like her.
Fortunately, her neighbors were cool, and rolled with it.
Remember: 10% of the people still think Elvis is alive…and there is even a flat earth society, along with several % think the lunar landing was faked.
right2bright on November 4, 2008 at 4:25 PM
I have had Obama supporters stealing garden ceramics from my front door the week before Halloween.
“At every other house, all the kids got plenty of candy.”
I don’t believe that. I know more folks than I thought were around who won’t allow their kids to trick or treat, not because of the danger involved, but because they believe that Halloween is an evil celebration. I never knew anyone like that when I was a kid. But they are certainly around now, and very nice people, indeed.
Those were M&M chocolate candy treats attached to her door flyer handouts. Reminded me of older kids running for student body office, bribing the elementary aged students with a promise to trade candy for their votes.
Halloween is not a civic duty to celebrate. This lady posted no Obama supporters welcome. Parents of Obama supporters made the big deal, and the media announced her name and neighborhood for thugs to visit later. It was her right to post what she wanted on her property.
Little kids don’t go to doors unlit. So NOT EVERYONE was handing out candy to every kid. Worst case scenario: child molesters are supposed to keep their doors closed regardless of political persuasion.

Razor blades….*sigh* now that takes me back.
ManlyRash on November 4, 2008 at 4:26 PM
BTW what’s the problem with no candy for kids?
Just be glad they didn’t goto Obama’s house, he’d probaly give them condoms.
YellowDawg on November 4, 2008 at 4:26 PM
Only if I actually posted something stupid. Thanks for the mesomorph comment anyway.
barry norris on November 4, 2008 at 4:26 PM
Actually that’s going too far!
She should have broken the candy in half, and said, be good patriots so I can give the other half to a needy child!
time2taketheglovesoffGOP on November 4, 2008 at 4:27 PM
I doubt that fat lady’s kid would have any chance at eating the candy anyway. I bet she conficscates it and eats it herself. Get over it.
bloggless on November 4, 2008 at 4:27 PM
That is really cool of the reporters to put her name and town on TV.
Elizabetty on November 4, 2008 at 4:04 PM
Yea, that’s messed up – they shouldn’t have done that.

TheBigOldDog on November 4, 2008 at 4:28 PM
It is not something I would do, but it is her house, her candy…

idiots, this woman commits no crime, but she is being lynched by a significant number for crimes of taste. Get backbones, because invertebrates are not the kind of comrades the conservative movement needs.
Don’t make me go on my Nixon G Gordon Liddy tirade. And, you all wonder why we’re going socialist. They have more balls, obviously. You shrink at the slightest blemish on a person’s righteousness.

anti-boomer on November 4, 2008 at 4:28 PM
No no — she should have given them a piece of candy of poor quality and taken a higher quality piece (or pieces) of candy from them as a trade-off. THAT would be redistribution in real time.
Republican on November 4, 2008 at 4:29 PM
What this women needed to do to make her point was this.
Dress up as obama, with an obama mask, and scare the children when they come to the door. That would create a mental image of Obama = bogeyman. The child would grow up and vote conservative for life.
keep the change on November 4, 2008 at 4:29 PM
You know there’s stuff going on in that neighborhood that’s driving all this that went completely unreported. I hope that wasn’t influenced by the color of the reporter’s skin.
TheBigOldDog on November 4, 2008 at 4:30 PM
She would have been arrested and charged with a hate crime if she did that, keep the change.

Dude…discretion is the better part of valor. There is a time to shout and a time to whisper. You’ve done a yeoman’s job rallying the troops, but the time has come to ratchet the fervor down a notch.
History is taking its course just as I said it would. So relax and enjoy the banter.

She isn’t their parent.

Esthier on November 4, 2008 at 4:30 PM
Obama will make it mandatory to give candy to all people who come to your door under penalty of imprisonment.
And not the fun size candy either.
Elizabetty on November 4, 2008 at 4:31 PM
Exactly what I was thinking. Why DOES this man have a life-sized cutout of Obama?
All Glory to the Hypno-cutout!

For those that don’t know the Detroit area, Grosse Pointe Farms used to be a great place to live. It borders the city of Detroit, separated in some areas by 8 foot high cement walls.
In the last 10 years, it’s gone downhill fast.
swami on November 4, 2008 at 4:31 PM
My daughter (an Obama idiot) showed me that and I made the exact point to her that Allahpundit made about seizing the candy through intimidation. I also added that those kids have no right to her candy.

My wife and I are both teachers. I live a few blocks from where I teach. I choose to live in the community and be a positive force among and for my students. We live in a nice, middle-class neighborhood. I see all the kids in their costumes at school on Halloween, so I’m not missing anything that night. In the past we only got about 30 or 40 kids coming by, and according to my in-laws that live down the street, even less this year.
I love ‘em, but the dogs don’t!

It’s really sad that this woman has to politicize Halloween. It doesn’t help her cause either. It just portrays McCain supporters as being crazy and stingy.

“I’m SORRY!” to all my new HotAir friends, I should NOT have used the bold so much, but guys I did already get the MANLYRASH seal of approval, and I just joined yesterday…
I’m trying to fit in, but I am very comfortable with you all because I have read this forum for months… I feel a bond, and I’m again sorry if I got a tad bit excited, BUT I CAN FEEL THE SPIRIT OF OUR FOUNDERS, OF OUR COUNTRY MOVING OVER THIS GREAT LAND TONIGHT! IT FEELS LIKE FREEDOM!

Oh yeah sir, please move over in front of your Obambi cutout.

She looks like she’s Korean. Koreans don’t have difficulty saying “love”, that’s a speech impediment that is normally limited to Chinese speakers.
YellowDawg on November 4, 2008 at 4:35 PM
It’s not like this lady is interviewing these kids for a job, or taking applications for a rental property.
She is giving away candy that she purchased to kids that come to her door.
It’s a voluntary agreement and can be arbitrarily revoked for any reason she likes.
But, it was still kinda nuts.

This woman was awesome! Give the candy to kids whose parents pay for their health and dental care. ‘Halloween is all about taking responsibility….’ I like it!

Lampoonery == Racism now?
Tuh-wat
LimeyGeek on November 4, 2008 at 4:37 PM
What’s the problem?
The left abuses children for political gain all the time. To oppose immigration laws. As the new Hitler youth squads. Even Pelosi surrounded herself with children when she took her place as head of the House. Just as Hussein used them as human shields in the Gulf War.
So. What’s the issue?
madmonkphotog on November 4, 2008 at 4:37 PM

Can I make another “epic” post at 11 est when we are fact based sure of the win ?
ROFL :)
Mark Garnett on November 4, 2008 at 4:39 PM
She should have handled this differently. This was a teaching moment. She could have given the kids who were Obama supporters a slip of paper saying that a donation has been made to UNICEF or some other children’s charity in honor of their support of Barack Obama and how he wants to spread the wealth.
Alternatively, she could have demonstrated Obama’s concepts about spreading the wealth to the kids by examining their candy bags and telling the ones with more candy to give it to the ones with less.
Obviously, only with kids old enough to understand. I’d say that even a five year old understands what “his” candy means. Teach ‘em property rights when they are young.
rokemronnie on November 4, 2008 at 4:40 PM
You have to lampoon things correctly though.
YellowDawg on November 4, 2008 at 4:40 PM
That is why we are reviewing manlyrash’s right to give out the seal of approval…if it is misused, we must revoke that privilege, as much as we do not want to do that.
May I suggest you drop the bold, and write some original posts. You apparently can write well, and enthusiastically, we are not a bunch of sheep, we respond to originality.
We are conservatives, not liberal lemmings…

You all are missing the point … this is NOT news.
It’s only ON the news to intimidate others from dissenting from Teh One.
So it is scary, but not for the reasons posted here.

YellowDawg on November 4, 2008 at 4:40 PM
What she should have done is put on an Obama costume. When a bunch of kids knock on her door, ask who has the most candy, reach into that kid’s sack and redistribute the candy to the other kids.
.

You know. I am so sick of seeing these people crying and whining on television. Go to the next house. But, for the love of all that is holy, DON’T CALL THE MEDIA! This is not important enough to even be on youtube.
Now, if the woman was SHOOTING at Obama supporters…that is a different story.

CyberCipher on November 4, 2008 at 4:44 PM
Almost got it right…actually she takes all of the candy, places in on one bag, takes out 28.6%, then distributes the balance to the kids. However the ones with the most get to keep all of their candy, as long as they give just 10% to the women, and make calls to other kids to come to the house.
She will then have distributed candy equally, and make a healthy addition to her candy supplies.
At the end of the night she will have much more candy then she started with, and everyone will have an equal amount.
right2bright on November 4, 2008 at 4:44 PM
your desire for approbation is humiliating. i mean humbling. ;)
anti-boomer on November 4, 2008 at 4:44 PM
I overheard a girl at work talking about taking her kids trick or treating. She told her kids that if the house had a McCain sign in the yard they were to ask if the resident voted for Bush. If the answer was yes, the kids were supposed to refuse the candy. If I typed out what I think of this girl, AP would ban me, so I’ll leave it up to your imagination.
I handed out candy to all the kids who came to the door. I wanted to turn away the teens who clearly put no effort into their costumes. If I didnt give the candy away I’d eat it myself, so they got lucky this year.
hump1201 on November 4, 2008 at 4:44 PM
Good point, he wins because he means well.
right2bright on November 4, 2008 at 4:46 PM
I agree, and their parents would damn sure understand.
I WISH I AHD THOUGHT of the whole slip of paper in the candy bag, so that when they were unloading the booty, they got the political hit in their face. Something along the lines of…
“Dear Begging Mongrel,
Please explain to your parents how I would have given you candy, but the kid ahead of you looked like he needed it more, so I gave him your share. OBAMA believes in redistributing the wealth. Explain how this SUCKS to your parents.
McCain Palin 2008 , So Our Kids Can Keep What They Earn”

hey, we didn’t give out candy either. My wife will tell you I wasn’t about to waste money giving candy to kids so they can fatten themselves up. Plenty of others out there already doing that.
Then Arnold said what he said Saturday. I felt vindicated with the “typical liberal giveaway” quip.

This lady has every right to be selective about who gets her free candy.
.
And the TV station was way out of bounds broadcasting her name and town.

Being completely surrounded on all sides by 1.3 billion Chinese as I am, and being a fluent speaker of Japanese I’ll just say two things:
- ‘R’ and ‘L’ are not clearly distingushed in Japanese, so learning to make a distinction is problematic.
- This woman looks a lot like my typical white, dark-haired grandmother.

Kind of along the same lines — this Halloween, two trick-or-treaters actually started chanting “Obama! Obama!” at our door! My mom told them that it was a free country and they got more polite. She still gave them the Bible tracts that we hand out every year, they need it more than anyone else, lol!
I loved that this lady, Shirley, handed out campaign literature! I’ll have to do that four years from now along with the Bible tracts!

These kids today are a bunch of wimps. In my day if someone refused to give me candy operation Eggs and Soap would be enacted. But today’s kids are so pampered that if someone refuses them handouts, they simply cry and run home to mommy. I guess that’s why Obama is their candidate.
