Track today’s vote at Hot Air!

In partnership with AOL News, we have a handy way to track the votes in every state. The interactive map below will tell you what states have polls open, when they close, and will track the calls made by the AP on whether each state goes to Barack Obama or John McCain. Click on each state to see a county-by-county breakdown of the voting, as well as more detailed information on state totals.

I’ll be checking this throughout the day, and it’s just one of many reasons to make Hot Air your primary Election Day website!

Update: Bumped to near top.

Historic election for me – I actually made it to the polling place and voted before my wife did (she was 6 places behind me); first time ever. Of course, I was up at 4:30am in order to do it! :) And she had stopped to pick up her father and take him along. That’s 3 for McCain/Palin!

IrishEyes on November 4, 2008 at 1:28 PM

The husband and I voted this morning for McCain/Palin of course. We are nearly 29 years old and we were the youngest people I saw! I don’t worry about our state of GA. I have such a good feeling that it’s all gonna be ok. Sure glad I’m not in an area where black panther members stand outside the door. Hope and change indeed.

GAnewmama on November 4, 2008 at 1:28 PM

Was very excited to be # 1 in line here in Beloit Wi this morning I wanted to be one of many to help bring McCain across the finish line. Please please get out our votes we need to fight for that which will keep us safe and protect our country and our constitution.
Go McCain/Palin!!!!

Question: I’ve lived overseas a lot lately, and as a result, I’m registered in both Indiana where I grew up and where my parents still live and in Maryland, where I just moved back to after a year abroad. I’ve already voted absentee for Indiana, just for pres and governor. Is it voter fraud if I go vote on the local Baltimore referendum issues? Triple quadruple promise that I wouldn’t vote for president again!

This was my first vote as an American. Became a citizen in July. Very happy to give my vote to Sarah and Whatshisname.
My wife and I waited about an hour and a half this morning here in southwestern Ohio ( Cincinnati area).

Just curious though, why is NH showing on the AOL map as ‘Polls Closed’?

pambi on November 4, 2008 at 2:12 PM

New Hampshire has a couple of areas that have very low population and they have a tradition of getting folks out to vote at midnight and closing the polls early after everyone has voted. Here is the story. That doesn’t mean the whole state has closed.

JackOfClubs on November 4, 2008 at 2:12 PM

I was pleased to see when I went to my polling place to vote McCain that my 20 year old daughter made it in before work to vote. Later I will take my 18 year old daughter in for her very first ballot cast! Both of them are McCain supporters too. The youngest has faced some pressure since she is still in high school and she has been surrounded by outspoken Obama supporting teachers (yes, I complained), but she stood up to them all. Most of the high school students want Obama. I told her to tell them that at least she was eligible to actually back up her opinion with a VOTE!

Beledibelle on November 4, 2008 at 2:16 PM

Why does the map show NH polls closed? It’s only 3:30p!

Had to wait 30 minutes in Ohio to vote. Never waited before. Turnout is very high due to unseasonably warm temperatures. Expect a McCain victory in Ohio. I have even managed to get my wife to finally see the light and not cancel out my vote for once. She too will be voting for McCain/Palin

Today Ladies and Gentelmen, we are in the valley, clad in our battlegear, awaken to the day by a force from within, a purpose, a mission, battle lies ahead!

We have been joined this “MORNING IN AMERICA” by PUMA’s, Reagan Democrates, RHINO’s, Conservatives, peoples of all faiths, of all social backgrounds, of ALL races, arm in arm, shoulder to shoulder, clinging to our God, our Guns, our Flag, our Constitution!

We are looking up at a huge mountain, with a fortress of the far left radicals inside awaiting our attack. The Socilialists, protected all the way up the hill by the MSM, and with Pundits blocking our paths, the task is daunting and will require all of the effort a human can muster!

But we are bolstered by our faith, comforted by that still small voice inside… Fortified by the knowledge that from our efforts here today our children and thiers will grow up in a FREE, PROUD, STRONG AMERICA… The America of our Founders, of our Grandfathers and Fathers, of our FALLEN HEROS who gave it all for our RIGHT TO FIGHT TODAY!

Drawing comfort from our friends, family, church and our mission we march onward, “RUSH”ing up the hill, tossing aside all the Pundits, embarrasing the MSM, confronting the radicals and leaving them wondering what hit them…

VICTORY AWAITS for all those willing to lay it all on the line today! Are you ready? Will you fight? Will you vote?

LET’s ROLL!

Yeah, the path to citizenship (legally) isn’t easy or particularly pleasant. Suffice it to say, INS and State are quite a bit less than helpful.

SpudIslander on November 4, 2008 at 4:33 PM

INS is a antiquated, slow process managed by less than enthusiastic beauracrats…and the INS wants it this way. With BO we can expect more of this big government inefficiencies.

jbh45 on November 4, 2008 at 6:15 PM

The youngest has faced some pressure since she is still in high school and she has been surrounded by outspoken Obama supporting teachers

In our school district, teachers are forbidden from telling kids how they’ll vote or what to vote for. It doesn’t stop the kids from debating though!

Actually, some of them got suspended today. They were debating in the cafeteria but the school is a polling place and it was too close. According to my daughter, no one told them about the 100 ft rule. Short-sighted of them.

The high school kids today seem to be much more politically aware than I was at their age. Both of my high schoolers wish they could vote now. My 22-year-old will vote when he gets home from work. McCain/Palin of course!

Why is VT called for Obama with 0% reporting? Is that supposed to be NH?

JackOfClubs on November 4, 2008 at 7:14 PM

So, no shockers in first results:

Obama: VT (electoral-vote.com last poll = 57/36 BO)
Mac: KT (ev.com last poll = 55/41 MAC)

Both had poll leads of 10 or greater, which is about where I had my cutoff point for believing any poll – double digits.

RedNewEnglander on November 4, 2008 at 7:15 PM

The returns in the reporting counties of Kentucky are overwhelmingly in favor of McCain. Louisville and one other county are less heavily in favor of Obama. I hope this is a trend for the neighboring states eg Penn, Ohio, Virginia!

Well, my state of Tennessee is sure safe. If that makes you feel better.

Judging from yard signs and bumper stickers in Nashville, McCain should take 85% of the vote.

I just polled about 20 4-year olds. 19 of them said Mommy and Daddy were voting McCain.

For some reason, they all knew Sarah Palin – but they think she’s McCain’s wife. Go figure.

Nifty map, Ed, but I don’t think too much of the AP results — calling Vermont for Obama with 0% reporting? Sure, it will probably end up that way, but come on, at 0%?

Gilda on November 4, 2008 at 7:29 PM

McCain has an early lead in VA and FL, both of which were dicey. And the lead is pretty big, though not enough reporting yet to tell if that will hold. Could that be military absentee ballots? They typically get counted early in CA, but I don’t know what the policy is in other states.

So far, by my count McCain has 74 (IN, KY, VA, FL & GA) to Obama’s 8 (ME & NH) though IN keeps flipping. Meaningless, I know and no reall surprises but VA. Still, encouraging…
