Round two: PA, FL, MO; Update: NBC calls Pennsylvania for Obama; Update: Fox too

No calls yet in round one as I write this. Florida and Missouri won’t be called until late, either, but if The One’s exit poll margin in Pennsylvania really is 15 points, there’s at least a chance it could go early and puncture Maverick’s balloon.
New general election updates will appear in this thread, but I’ll update the last one with results from those states as they come in.
Update: Bright and early as the clock strikes eight, NBC calls Pennsylvania for The One. Start drinking.
Update: Here’s my map from the predictions thread the other day. To get to a McCain victory, you had to flip 50 electoral votes from blue to red. Try doing it without Pennsylvania.

Update: Steve Kornacki does the math. Barring any very surprising upsets, Obama’s already banked 259 EVs. All he needs is one red state from 2004 worth 11 EVs to turn blue and he’s pretty much set.
Update: ABC also says Obama takes Pennsylvania. And, to add insult to injury, New Hampshire.
Update: Exit poll data from Florida per Marc Ambinder has Obama, amazingly, winning Hispanics by 10 points.
Update: Fox News says Obama wins Pennsylvania, too. And according to the CNN map, with 36 percent reporting, he leads in Florida by more than 200,000 votes.
Update: A McCain aide acknowledges to Ambinder that they need a miracle.

Now Fox is just rattling off these states 2 seconds after voting closes. All based on exit polls.
Mr_Magoo on November 4, 2008 at 9:02 PM
Early results in PA look really wierd!
Obama, 138,000 votes
McCain 51,000 votes
Nader 53,000 votes
I don’t care what district it’s in, how does Nader pull 21% to McCain’s 20%???
Professor_Chaos on November 4, 2008 at 9:02 PM
Fox said calling Ohio for Obama mistake.
Gave me a hear attack. Or atleast just delayed it.

Idiotic, why do they do this every friggin election year? Calling states with 3% of the vote in then having to recall them two hours later?

Saltysam on November 4, 2008 at 9:04 PM
Something that you guys don’t get is that 50% of self-identified catholics just call themselves that because of ethnic or social reasons. Catholicism is not their religion, they do not go to church or practice the faith. There is nothing the church can do about people identifying themselves as catholics just because the want to.

How did Obama’s EC vote go from 200 to 163?
Mattpat11 on November 4, 2008 at 9:04 PM
Lieberman may caucus with Repubs, we’ll see. and Mathews will be a weak candidate, he’s said too much controversial stuff not to have it used against him. He’s only running because Olbermann is basically running him out of MSNBC. I don’t see Specter voting for liberal judges (remember PA is still socially conservative on many issues) or for Obama’s New Deal 2 policies. I also think, given the possibility of a prolonged recession, that many will be having buyers remorse when it comes to Obama, and there won’t be any Republicans left to kick around.
that number needs to be under 60, desperately.
DAMNIT FOX. they accidentally called Ohio for Obama, i just died a little inside.
Nina Easton is a fool imo, she actually thinks this election is showing that America is now a Center Left nation. I see no sign of that, what i see is anger directed at Bush’s center left policies…but they aren’t looking at it from an ideological standpoint, they just see Bush.
and Bill Kristol is always sulking during these things. He needs to cheer up a bit.

Relax people. They’re calling states with like 1% of the vote in. They’re just calling them because the other networks are so they can keep a hold of the viewers.

olmojoe on November 4, 2008 at 9:05 PM
The early calls are always aggravating because of the effect on the western states. It’d be nice if they’d quit doing that and just let the actual election play itself out. This is particularly true of a state whose role in this election is as important as PA’s.

Naw, we got the 2010 midterms to offer Americans one last emergency chance to reverse the leftward shift. If we can make big gains then, we’ve got Jindal, Sarahcuda, Mitt, and probably some as-of-now unknown leaders waiting for us in 2012. We can survive (if we can filibuster some of that hopenchange).

Exit polls should be illegal. Only actual REAL fricking votes should be reported.
Calling a state before at least 50% of all precincts have reported should be illegal as well.

I am beginning to think we would be better off if the networks and cable just sort of laid back on all this and let the votes be counted and then once they really knew what was going on, just told us. It would beat the hell out of this crap. I made my guy turn the TV off and go to bed. I just got sick of listening to them yak.

354 out of 9293 PA precincts have reported (thus far as of 9 pm) reporting,
so it must be true, the newies know more than the Commonwealth’s own voting results counters itself,
plus Bucks Co. had precincts open until 9pm because of voting machine problems.
So…anywho

There is nothing else to be done tonight. It’s over and done.
As for the GOP: it might as well close shop and disappear into the night, because I really don’t think it can recover from this blow. Burn it to ashes, and probably, just maybe, something else newer and better can rise from it.
As for us, all we can do is to stay silent for a good, long time and watch as it all unfolds. With Democrats having absolute power, there is nothing (I repeat: nothing) they cannot do to harm us into oblivion.

*** Let me explain this ONE LAST TIME, the MSM is using it’s own agenda, it is giving ALL the STATES to Obama based on what they want you to see, you can NOT call a State with ZERO % of the vote counted, but yet, they have in PA, but why have they NOT called TEXAS and other RED States for McCain??? Because they want to DEPRESS the west vote…

cobrakai99 on November 4, 2008 at 9:09 PM
Manly you are right. McCain will win, and it will be a testimony to God. Many Churches have prayed and fasted these past few days for this nation and it’s people.
When Obama loses, it will be a referendum against his Marxist ideologies, his stance on abortion, his arrogance, and his willingness to be projected as a ‘Messiah’. Our Lord will only have us worship him, not some ‘idol’ that people have propped up.
After this is over, the United States really needs to look inward and see how a Marxist came so close to becoming our President. I’ll give you a hint, the public schools, and liberal Universities.
Stay strong & thank you Manly!
