Round two: PA, FL, MO; Update: NBC calls Pennsylvania for Obama; Update: Fox too

No calls yet in round one as I write this. Florida and Missouri won’t be called until late, either, but if The One’s exit poll margin in Pennsylvania really is 15 points, there’s at least a chance it could go early and puncture Maverick’s balloon.
New general election updates will appear in this thread, but I’ll update the last one with results from those states as they come in.
Update: Bright and early as the clock strikes eight, NBC calls Pennsylvania for The One. Start drinking.
Update: Here’s my map from the predictions thread the other day. To get to a McCain victory, you had to flip 50 electoral votes from blue to red. Try doing it without Pennsylvania.

Update: Steve Kornacki does the math. Barring any very surprising upsets, Obama’s already banked 259 EVs. All he needs is one red state from 2004 worth 11 EVs to turn blue and he’s pretty much set.
Update: ABC also says Obama takes Pennsylvania. And, to add insult to injury, New Hampshire.
Update: Exit poll data from Florida per Marc Ambinder has Obama, amazingly, winning Hispanics by 10 points.
Update: Fox News says Obama wins Pennsylvania, too. And according to the CNN map, with 36 percent reporting, he leads in Florida by more than 200,000 votes.
Update: A McCain aide acknowledges to Ambinder that they need a miracle.

Manly,
This thread is dying down. Thread 3 needs your help.
BadgerHawk on November 4, 2008 at 9:19 PM
I remember the days of Carter too. And not fondly. And that got us Reagan. If Ford had won in 1976, would there have been a Reagan win in 1980? Maybe not. So if we lose the W.H. tonight, then it’s back to basics, focusing on the local races, the state level, and looking ahead to the mid-terms and eventually 2012.
Obama and his pals in Congress have a big mess on their hands. He’s said a lot of things, about Iraq, about Iran, about the economy, health care, etc., that he can’t deliver. And some bad thing will happen somewhere and whatever he’s got planned will go out the window anyway so it’s not going to matter. Just ask George W. Bush.
But it’s not over yet…is it?
Bennett on November 4, 2008 at 9:19 PM

Re Catholics in PA: Not trying to start a war, but let’s face it: Half of Roman Catholics are RC because they were born into it, not because they chose it. Half are Christmas/Easter types with little knowledge of scripture, who view most doctrines of the church as quaint antiquities. That’s not a slam on Catholics (Episcopalians, and increasingly, Methodists and Lutherans) are as bad or worse. Roman Catholics voting for baby-killers is nothing new (and neither is Methodists voting for baby-killers, Episcopalians, etc.).

Holy Christmas, this blog goes fast! Lost where I was…sorry. Thanks again to those who care about me :)
There is one light in this mess we are in…the enjoyment of watching the NObama administration (and associated Congress, it seems) crash and BURN. It will be fun to sit and say, “I told you so”.
You see, I have to give up now. Still DONE with this …. there is no hope left. It’s better this way (read: denial)…..
To those who soldier on, good on ya…
Cheers to those who drink.

RedNewEnglander on November 4, 2008 at 9:22 PM
OK, so I was looking at the various county results in the quickly-called PA, and saw Dauphin County as 95% Obama, 4% McCain with 884 votes in. Dauphin County went for Bush 65,000 to 55,000 in 2004. Where do you get such a skewed sampling without some ballot box stuffing?
They just refreshed it and it’s now 78-22 with 5400 votes in. Maybe a few heavy union precincts coming in early? Still seems high to me.
hbrooks on November 4, 2008 at 9:22 PM
Terrye, I was but a newborn when Watergate was going on.
Have you seen what’s going on in the other states? West Virginia! Coal Country, for cryin’ out loud! They’re going for The Man Who Will Ruin Their Coal Industry!
Not to mention this: what do you think happens when the meme of Republicans being “racists, sexists, bigots, homophobes, Nazis,” etc. repeated over and over by those with influence in our society (from college professors to the entertainment and news media), don’t you think that meme has sunk in beyond the point of no return? If the GOP is to rid itself of it, something radical MUST be done. Nothing short of burning it to the ground and raising the Phoenix will do.

No, no. Get some rest, and be right to fight again. Whatever GOP or conservative Dems are in office have to hear from us, at every level, as Obama and the libs in Congress try to push their agenda through. This is actually when the real fight begins.

Mr_Magoo on November 4, 2008 at 9:39 PM
It took a Carter to bring us a Reagan and it will apparently take an Obama to give us a Palin.
IF Obama wins he will be the most despised President in history. The whackos who voted him in will turn on him rather quickly when he fails to deliver. They’re not sane to begin with so I doubt seriously whether they have will have the patience or the reasoning for Obama’s overly promised miracles. Miracles that will be impossible for him to deliver. Look at the democrat Congress. How’s that working out?
Plus when the economy tanks, and it will, all blame will be on him. He and he alone will bear a heavy heavy load and with no experience to back him up he will fail miserably.
On a side note the next liberal city that gets hit during an Obama administration gets ZERO sympathy from me. You asked for it. You deserve it.

Pelayo on November 4, 2008 at 9:43 PM
Then what the fuck are you doing here?
malan89 on November 4, 2008 at 9:43 PM
You know, I was thinking of this today. McCain can handle a loss. At his age, he has accumulated much wisdom and grade to handle things like loss and rejection. He can take it and move on with his life, and be OK. He will, in the end, have no regrets about how he has lived. Again, he will be OK after tonight.
Not so with Obama. He has never had to handle a major rejection from anyone. His inner self is filled with a vindictiveness that can scare anyone. Someone like him will never be able to handle a major defeat like this. And he would have blamed it on “the white man” for the rest of his life. That would have been a sorry sight.
But things are what they are. We will have to live with his pettiness and vindictiveness for a while. And those who voted for him will see, too late, what we had warned against.
newton on November 4, 2008 at 9:43 PM

hawksruleva on November 4, 2008 at 9:47 PM
I think the biggest difference is the how and not the what.
With some exceptions.
Even on a hot issue like abortion there is a common ground. Liberals and Conservatives don’t like them and what to reduce the instances of it happening. Obviously there are disagreement on the actual procedure but the goal is similar (reduce the rate of occurence to 0).
