Round three: CO, NM; Update: Fox calls Ohio for Obama; Update: CNN calls Iowa for Obama; Update: Fox calls Virginia for Obama; Update: Denver Post calls Colorado for Obama; Update: NBC calls the election for Obama

At this point I’d be shocked if either of them mattered, but the polls have closed so here’s a new thread for results.
As I’m writing that, CNN calls Minnesota and Michigan for The One.
Update: Turns out my prediction was too conservative: I had Ohio going for McCain. Fox calls it for The One. And with that, the hour of reckoning is at hand.
Update: I said in this post over the weekend that under no circumstances could Maverick lose more than one among Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia. Unless the network projections are drastically wrong, he’s already lost two. According to MSNBC, with both PA and OH in the ledger, Obama has 195 EVs with 55 still to come from California. Florida would put him over the top.
Update: Ohio’s the first red state from 2004 to flip, incidentally, and the only one Obama needs thanks to its high EV number. He can win the election now simply by holding Kerry’s states.
Update: The nets will be appropriately cautious about calling Florida early after the fiasco eight years ago but Obama’s leading steadily by 150,000-200,000 votes with 60 percent reporting and the bellwether counties don’t look good. If that flips, we’re approaching landslide territory.
Update: Obama wins New Mexico, unsurprisingly.
Update: The polls are closed now in Nevada and Montana too, but neither will matter. CNN calls Iowa for The One.
Update: With 84 percent reporting, Obama’s now ahead in Virginia by 13,000 votes.
Update: With 91 percent reporting and a lead of more than 50,000 votes, Fox hands Virginia to The One. That gives him 220 EVs, according to my tally. California will put him over the top.
Update: More blood on the floor: The Denver Post says Colorado belongs to The One. We should have a call on California from the networks within the next five minutes, and that should wrap things up.
Update: And there’s California, and there’s the election.

Ask that lady in 4 years if Obama payed her mortgage and put gas in her car. My guess would be NO! And If he is making her work for her welfare check, you know she ain’t gonna be happy.

I know some folks who will be really surprised when the Big O takes there money and schools still suck. And then takes some more money and unemployment continues to suck.
That’s what really makes this sad. Millions of people have voted to keep their children, and their children’s children, shackled with poverty.

Esthier on November 4, 2008 at 10:34 PM
I like them all too. But this is not really as much about the candidates as it is about the American electorate. Lets face it, our country has been dumbed down terribly thanks to all levels of education and the MSM. Nominating the greatest candidate will help, but we need to do a lot more than that. We will all have to take an active roll in re-educating our fellow citizens and getting them to the polls next time. We really need to start thinking about how we will organize ourselves to start doing that.
This is a very depressing and crashing blow, but many of us prayed extensively for this election and God will help us turn this into a much greater victory.

It occurs to me that we could hope that everything we know about Obama is wrong. That he is really proud to be an American and won’t sell out his own country. That he is a true convert to Democracy. I know it’s a long shot but it would be a better outcome for the country.
I hope he personally fails so he is a one termer..but that he is a decent administrator and makes better decisions than he has in the past. I mean he puts country first when all is said and done. I hope Obama will be a better President than I think he will be now. I hope he has put away his socialism and come to his senses.

That is not what I said. Palin was not my first choice to be honest with you. But I have rarely seen a politician inspire people the way she did. She might not have attracted people who probably would not be attracted to the GOP anyway, but she gave the base someone they could identify with and look up to. That was worth something.

Agreed, 100%. I cannot imagine how difficult it has been for him in that job with all the deranged maniacs and the hate being directed at him from his own party. I haven’t agreed with everything he has done, but damned if he wasn’t the right man at the right time.
Had the privilege of speaking with him years ago when he was our governor. He’s a regular guy, comfortable in his own skin, and put me at ease instantly. I may be the only person in America that will miss him, but miss him I will.

tessa on November 4, 2008 at 10:36 PM
Petunia, it gets worse.
The United States and its European and Asian allies kept military pressure on the Russians, while their economies relatively boomed. Under the leadership of Reagan and others, they destroyed the Soviet Union.
What country will save America?
Your electorate voted for this. McCain warned them and they voted for this.
With Obama controlling the levers of power — a man so cold he can support infanticide and partial birth abortion, a megalomaniac who creates his own symbols of power before even gaining office, a political thug, a person who sought out domestic terrorists and other communists (the Weather Underground plan to kill 25,000,000 Americans who couldn’t be reeducated according to an FBI informant is a peachy touch), a media almost totally in the bag for him — how much will the American people’s choice matter?
Obama will command the most powerful military on Earth too, and 100% of America’s nuclear forces. No state or collection of states could withstand that.
The 1861-1865 American Civil War? If Obama became as ruthless as some believe him capable to be, that would be a best case scenario.
But the author Robert Heinlein put it best and I’m paraphrasing from memory:
Christoph on November 4, 2008 at 10:36 PM

I don’t post on here very often, but you folks have got to chill-ax. I am a conservative; I have never, ever voted for a democrat, and I never, ever will. Obama won, and he’s got a big fat majority in Congress. OK. They’ll either do a good job (exceedingly unlikely), or they’ll overplay their hand and send the democrat party to the wilderness for a couple of decades. It’s a win-win situation for conservatives. Obama will move to the center like Bill Clinton did, and be an inconsequential president like Clinton was, or he’ll overplay his hand, lose Congress in 2 years, and…be an inconsequential president like Clinton was. He’s got the job. That was the easy part. Doing the job? That pretty little man is in so far over his head that utter failure, or inconsequential seat-warmer are the only 2 ways an Obama presidency can go.

Usually a very good point. In this case though, the known goal of the core ideology in play with Obama is to make sure the US does not survive as a “go it alone” sovereign “greedy” caitalist “arrogant bully” superpower. Obama will be a Black Swan President taking power in the middle of a Black Swan financial meltdown with crisis nuclear threats. All bets are off.
I’m also betting there are several hardcore Marxist lawyer/judges who have been sponsored and groomed for decades under the radar on a parallel track to Obama. They will surface with their deceptive records and biographies when he appoints them to the Supreme Court. It makes no sense that he was the only one groomed as a “Mansourian Candidate.” These guys have been targeting the judicial system even more than the Presidency.

Mark it well: 10:15PM MST. The time that the election in New Mexico was stolen.
At that moment, without any additional precincts reporting, the vote totals flip-flopped and changed from a huge lead for most Republicans, to a huge lead for all the Democrats. That was the FIRST injection of some of the 2 million extra ballots that our corrupt democrat Secretary of State printed.
